Luv your comprehensive videos… quality information! Ok I’m trying to get the industry, I have done a ton of recruiting work, but I need to be w2, so what companies will hire to provide you that Career opportunity? In Texas and willing to go the extra mile!
This needs to follow the real estate broker/agent relationship. The broker already opened the doors already…I did a case study on Lodestar in college. Managing 1099 “employees” sucks though, but if you get a few motivated agents, you can really start to succeed and grow.
Brandon thank you so much for the time you take to put put these videos. I've been watching for a while, and looking forward to acquiring some training in the near future. I have a question, I have current authority, and am interested in becoming a freight broker. I understand that credit will be a big issue untill you start moving loads. While I believe maybe setting up that I am willing to work with new carriers, that way there will be an acceptable risk to both parties, and benefit to new carriers as well as my new brokers authority credit. While I'm initially planning to adding broker authority to my current mc under the same business, could I potentially set it up as a separate business, then broker the freight to my carrier for the first few to get the ball rolling and help my credit go up? I'm already signing up with ecapital for factoring both sides, and looking up surety bonds. Does this make sense to do?
Hey Brandon, great info...how do you feel about the idea of starting as an agent and transferring over to running a brokerage after u learn the business
What if I wanted to pay someone hourly and with a sign on bonus and a smaller commission as an employee to come on board for the day to day operations? And later switch to only commission to be independent as a freight agent?.I think it’s good to have more people than just me solo.
Brandon, if hiring a 1099 agent - can I deduct or charge them for the user account on my load boards? If I provide them the "tools" to do their job, are they still a 1099?
Did you apply for your authority yet?...I was getting terrible expensive quotes before I applied but after I applied and received my MC and DOT numbers, surety bonds and trust fund companies will find you!
This was super helpful as in w2 employee an private contractor! Thank you again!

If you have more agents that makes you earn more money?
Of course it does, it’s expansion.

yes you can charge for board access...SHOULD not change private contractor status but good question to discuss with your CPA/Tax professional...
How much percentage he get paid freight Agent, thanks for your information brother I just get my authority and looking for more information
freight agents split could be 70/30 or maybe 80/20...freight broker decides...
Great video. What's a reasonable commission fee for Freight Agents?
When I called around to brokerages, they paid their agents anywhere from 50-75% of the rate. I'd like to know what Brandon thinks is good, too
Do you broker loads in tri-state area
