    Wow! That was a nice strong stream she was providing there at the end of the video. Excellent information, Delci! Thank you for sharing, and this is one video I wanted to pay close attention to. We are very fortunate with our Kikos; they are so self reliant, have strong parasite resistance and rarely need help kidding. Our Nubian goats as well as our Nigerian Dwarfs are a whole other story. So much care has to be taken, just as you were describing. Just another reason I feel so blessed to have your goat binder available at all times. You are such a blessing! Looking forward to the next video!

      It is important to breed animals who have less problems! But my problem is that I fall in love with them. I have a doe who probably isn’t the best but I love her and it would be hard to get rid of her LOL
      Thanks for watching :-) I hope you have a great day!

      I don't know why u guys call this breed Nigeria dwarf goats. They are actually WAD (West African Dwarf goats).

    Great video. I have been volunteering on farm and one of the goats sadly died today of this, and the two kids too - she was quickly opened up after she just died, however the kids were not fully developed and a way off delivery. She wasn't fat, but had looked bloated and had signs of swollen face, all the signs of being lerthagic starting a week ago, and difficulty getting up, we thought it may have been early labour as upper lip had also been curling, we did contact the vet and she had been given energy drinks. Her diet had been x 2 a day mixed soaked grains and sprouted beans, and she had a large supply of hay, they were also put out to graze each day on bushes and grasses. Additional molasses or glucose hadn't been given, until a few days ago and since there was little room in her rumen I wondered if a higher nutritional density of lighter foods would help. In the end she was eating little and often. Thank you for the molasses tip, I heard that grain could be good as better nutrition than hay if the space in rumen is so restricted. The calcium tablet / tips are helpful, she had been giving glucose drinks and calcium, in the last few days but I feel this may have been too late.

      Ah 😕 I’m so sorry that that’s what your day held. That’s no fun. And you’re right, sometimes a goat just doesn’t have time to get back to health when they get so sick.
      Many blessings on all you’re doing at that farm!

Can I get it from a local vet for her? Or what information do you have on it, any info in much appreciated 😁 you sound like you know your goats and all your information is so clear and understanding!!!

    Hi! Just found you! Will start watching you now... I was looking for info about late pregnancy strokes in goats, because Daniel on Arms Family Farm (YT )has a goat that I think may have had a stroke and went lame in one hind leg a couple days before kidding two very large kids. She couldn't get up or walk. It's been a week and she can get up and walk a little, but has to sit down and rest before walking again. Have you ever experienced this or heard of it before?

      I did watch that video 😕
      I’ve never experienced that. I really don’t known what would have caused that or what should be done about it

    • @heidinein645

      A stroke has maybe the same causes in goats as it has in humans. And it can Happen any time ....Mine was because of an arterie that ruptured...

    How did you know all this knowledge?

    • @DelcifromALifeofHeritage
      @DelcifromALifeofHeritage  4 года назад +1

      Well, I’ve owned goats for 11 years and sometimes by necessity I’ve had to learn a lot. Trial and error. Studying. Reading. Asking lots of questions. 😊

    I need help! My goat has had diarrhea for about 2 half weeks now and I have tried corid, electrolytes, prebiotic, kefir vitamin B complex injection she is pregnant but I'm not sure how far along. She was pregnant when we got her. Then she got diarrhea and has dropped off her feed and hay maybe a Bite or two here and there. But is exhibiting some of the signs you were mentioning in this video. I'm at my wits end! I know you can't diagnose because your not a vet but maybe some ideas would be helpful.

      It could have been stress of some kind, sudden change in the weather or she wasnt getting enough nutrients

    • @DelcifromALifeofHeritage
      @DelcifromALifeofHeritage  3 года назад +1

      yes, that's correct with what Naiah said. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what could have happened. There could have been a toxic plant, nutrient deficiency, medications given, infections.
