They fell off the rails after about the 2018 model year. When they canned half the ARCTCO engineering staff and brought people up from Textrons Golf Cart plant And at the same time canned several local dealers for mystery reasons I felt like things haven’t been this bad since 1981. A friend used to go to the plant every year and pick up his new sled. Last time he went was 2021 he said moral is LOW. I understand supply issues are bad but dang. I am often stunned at the lack of marketing by AC/Textron. They could stay viable in the market by simply refining there current models and offering a less expensive and reliable option, somewhat like the Japanese dual sport motorcycles (ie KLR 650, DRZ 400 etc.). I think they could even hold their loyal fans by offering a raised platform (like an Ice Age kit) trimmed tail section, say without the terrible snowflap, and bring back a MC dual rail as an option and keep the price less then doo or poo. Ironically they seem to be going the same direction of Suzuki in North America, no new product and almost zero marketing. As a AC loyal fan I actually hope for a Yamaha buyout to possibly revive the brand, but honestly don't know why they would unless they wanted to maintain a presence in the snomo world.

I ride a ‘16 M8 154x3” snopro ltd all black. Love it. Wanted a new one this year but realized how good mine already is with that Suzuki 800 motor. But I can’t agree with your sentiments I mean they came out with the Alpha which has its naysayers, but I think they really could do a twin alpha rail kit for people who are really bothered by it. I want that gray/blue one, was hoping to catch a rebate. What are your issues with them besides the lack of major changes and the poor marketing, market share? The alpha was a major change/innovation and I love the body style. Proclimb - Ascender might look similar but they handle immensely different. If they can keep shaving off weight and making good looking sleds I think they can keep us core customers that ride or die with cat. I think I actually like the fact that they’re less popular and always do the opposite of what the crowds do. I also switched sleds with my buddy who has a 165” 2021 Polaris and I wanted my sled back in about 5 minutes while he enjoyed learning how to get on edge with mine better than his - 5 years older - because Cats come out the box with excellent Fox suspension instead of needing a $4k upgrade from the walker-evans crap. End rant/rave lol.

@@daverothgery7854 Thanks for the rant. I’m just having some fun because they’re so lame at giving the market a sense of where they’re going, and judging by the reaction lots of people agree. Suddenly he could get on edge and sidehill the sled.

@@AkatarawaJapan I was there at the forefront buying 4-stroke sleds from them in the mid 00’s thinking they were going to revolutionize the sled market like they did with MX and the YZ400F. I did well in the first XC race I competed in on my Vector. Then the Nytro came out in ‘08, the rider forward sled many of us were waiting for. And…. it was a Ill handling turd. What’s Yamaha do to fix it? Nothing. In the meantime the other OEM’s improved their sleds almost every year, made changes, developed and released new chassis and pushed the industry to create better, lighter sleds.
Then there was Yamaha, not innovating, not responding to rider complaints, not reacting to the market and look where it got them. A solid 4th place in sales and now they don’t even make their own sleds. It’s pathetic. They could go away tomorrow and few would miss them because they could buy Arctic Cats and have the same thing.
I’m actually a Yamaha guy, own a bunch of Yamaha dirt bikes and four wheeler and a VK. But I won’t defend their piss poor performance or attitude towards the sled market. Doo went from #4 in the late 80’s to #1 by innovating and improving their sleds. Yamaha is just an engine supplier that sells blue AC sleds. They still produces few Japanese built models that are obsolete so that proves they could still manufacture new sleds and get back into it if they wanted but they choose not to.

Have you tried a 22 Alpha? It really agrivates me when people say Cats are behind the competition, because they simply are not. Ive ridden with the 22 Ski doos and polaris and my cat goes everywhere they go. Weve all raced up hills and the 800 hangs right with the 850s.

I’m not brand tribal but I’ve had a good run with Cats and have a great dealer 15 mins away so I’d like them to succeed. And I’m not naïve enough to expect every brand to make everything new every year. Look at Cat’s history, even fairly recently, and there is plenty of innovation and solid engineering. Amazing riders out there doing crazy things on Cats, too. So it beats me how they manage to come across so tepid.

@@JoeyNemetz no, I’m not a mountain rider, no mountains even remotely close to me. I have a fairly new 998 turbo cross country. Love the sled but it’s dated, doesn’t ride or handle as good as the competition and is missing some of the fancy do dads. I’m a cat guy, and would love to see them rise to the top and I know in order to do that they need to step up their game. That’s all I’m saying. Plus I’m soon going to need a new sled and would like the coolest thing I can get my hands on lol

Wow alot of shitting on cat for no real innovation in the last 10 yrs.shit polaris road the indy chassis hard for what 20? I'm glad to see cat still around. Imagine how boring it would be with just ski-doo and polaris building new sleds. Think about this people's livelihood depends on that plant and it staying open. You don't need smart shocks and a state of the art dash display to have fun snowmobiling.
