Wow! Your decision not to retire and go around the world looking for adventure is turning out to be epic. Thoroughly enjoyed your North American tour culminating in Mexico. The intrepid trip to the arctic braving elements and bad roads was marvelous. Three cheers to Trudy for serving you well so far in spite of age and needing repairs along the way. All the best for Japan and onward. 😊👍
!!!!! Important!!! Just a thought regarding the door catch, sometimes the latch gets triggered before the door is closed, it gives exactly the symptoms you have, if it has triggered you can unlock it by sticking a screwdriver in the latch on the door and pushing the lever towards the van, away from the door, possibly by pulling the release handle as you do it. Hope this helps!!!!
I love your guys filming RUclips videos and love you guys and you never never give up you never know sometimes living in a van ups and downs van I'm am from Roy Utah USA
Thanks Rashelle - we think it is important to share the good the bad and the reality - it gives balance as Van life is not always pretty, and trying to drive around the world is certainly not easy !! We hope that anyone considering doing a challenge like this will get to see how we resolve some of the issues we encounter 🌺
Glad you didn’t get further problems with the gearstick. When I was training in my line of work, one of the bosses lent me his car to make a delivery to a client. Halfway down a steep hill on the way back to the company car park, the whole gearstick came out. I managed to jam it back in, but it came out for good, as I was parking up in the company car park. When I reported back to the boss, I said, “Oh, you will also want your gearstick back.” I put it on his desk, and we both started laughing 😂
Your energy is AMAZING! I subscribed to your channel and play your videos when I want to feel good about life. You made me tear up when you talked about Salvadoran people. I felt the same when I returned to El Salvador a few years back. I’ve traveled throughout Latin America, the US and Canada and Salvadorans have something special in the way they treat you. It’s something indescribable but you feel it as soon as you come into the country.
Wow guys they really looked after you which is awesome. Hopefully you have the export of your vehicle figured out by now. I have worked in international shipping and understand what they are doing,,, but normally they accept a copy of the vehicle title. Just to ensure it is not stolen…. Good luck. Hope all is well
Thanks Chris - yes it has been a bit tricky and we are working things out - we are working things out and grateful to all of the mechanics who have helped us repair and also do the maintenance work on Trudy - it has been critical to keep her on the road and to be able to continue the adventure 🙏😍
I love you guys so much your videos are so positive and amazing and it sets you apart from all other RUclipsrs. You’ve recently started doing sad faces and negative thumb nails and I don’t even click on them! I don’t watch the video! It’s so not you guys it’s not the message you give, what’s the point?
Hi Stacy. We always try and create some kind of curiosity and tell the story in the thumbnail it really is an art in itself and we have dont a number of courses on thumbnail design. When we have to take Trudy to get fixed in various countries we are of course nervous as we dont know their work. So the thumbnail says that. - was it a bad idea ? Of course when you watch the video you will find out the outcome. Hope that helps explain it to you - Chris

I am glad that Trudy is having a makeover(!) for traveling the entire world. I am thinking Tijuana may have the same Geolgical structures ( called blind faults to give you that rollercoaster topo) like in San Francisco. Like domino stones once you trigger the falling all of the stones pile up onto each other. Marianne you never stop to amaze me; driving on the left side wheel ( right side of the road).👍👍You also teach everyone a lesson that is never give to the originals of paperwork of the van and the passport I wonder what the heck they were trying to do! Be careful, thanks for the lovely video. Cannot wait for the next.❤❤❤🇹🇷🇹🇷
Loving your channel. Have recently bought myself a Fiat camper .......... but after I did, I later learnt that FIAT actually stands for 'Fix It Again Tomorrow'! 🤔 Here in Aussie, Fiat owners also seem to get that type of mechanics' reaction you talk about. There are very few Fiat certified mechanics here.

@@TREADtheglobe biggest worry for me with mine (after needing the strut towers welding, all the cills welding, the rear quarters welding, the engine rebuilding, gearbox losing all synchros a 2nd time so just leaving it....) is the rear "shocks" are higher pressure versions and harder to find. The 1500kg payload version has stronger leaf springs and the 1800kg has a single flat leaf with the extra support from the gas damper. (Otherwise it would need triple leaf which would bounce all over the road when empty) I'll keep it for ever because it's been a lovely van once fixed.

Love, love, love Mexico. Tijuana is a city that has fantastic food.
