With a group of recipients of the nation's highest military honor on a trip from New York to Washington for National Medal of Honor Day 2011. See more at stripes.com/medalofhonor
Our V/A is terrible, the only “lovely treatment” veterans get is a couple discounts and a pat on the back. The government doesn’t care about our military. A lot of our soldiers end up as homeless, addicted or both.
"Above and beyond the call of duty...." It's telling that even a five star General salutes a recipient of the Medal Of Honor. They represent the highest values of courage and sacrifice in our country.
Technically, the Medal of Honor gets the salute, not the recipient, but the rank of a medal-wearing recipient only matters if they encounter another medal-wearing recipient.
Medal of Honor recipients hold an annual convention. If it comes to your city, there is a time during the convention when there is a "meet and greet" session which is open to the public. By all means attend that session if possible. I attended in Minneapolis and it was one of the highlights of my life. They will all return your salute if rendered...and it should be.
Thank you for your service to all the veterans who fought for the freedom of Korea. Still remember your great sacrifices in South Korea. Really thank you America.
Your kind words and gratitude mean a lot. My uncle saw combat in Korea….his squad was wiped out except for him. He was not the same coming home. My other uncle was in the merchant marine…civilian ships that supply the Navy in combat. My dad had just finished Army basic training. Orders were cut for his unit to deploy for combat in two weeks. A week later, the Armistice was signed. I’m glad S Korea is doing so well. I pray that the North will be free soon and communism fall…everywhere. It is a curse upon humanity. Peace.🇺🇸🇰🇷
Never served, but I understand the weight and sacred position of the Medal of Honor holders. This brought tears to my eyes. So many heroes in one place! It was good to see the respect shown.
That you have these Men to honour is a comforting way to go to sleep at night , knowing we are safe in our beds with them to uphold our way of life so we can sleep peacefully.
These brave souls, along with all who ever honorably wore the uniform, are the ones we owe the greatest measure of devotion to. NOT the overpaid underperforming athletes who sit down during the National Anthem out of "protest", not the nutjobs, lunatics who trash the very country who gave them so much and asked for little in return....it is such as these who made it all possible....God bless and keep them and their families and our country safe always.
David, I agree with everything you posted. My only wish would be for the NFL spoiled brats be made to watch this and maybe they will see how insignificant they really are. I have personally boycotted the NFL for 4 years and have vowed never to support them in any way, shape or form. Have a great Labor Day.
Thank you so very much, to all of our Medal Of Honor recipients. Thank you to all who have served, are presently serving, and those that will serve in the future. Your courage is so very much appreciated. Semper Fi
It would indeed be the highest honor to meet each & every one of these men! Since that is a bit unlikely, I will thank the ones I know who have served, or are serving, all the more fervently and often.
The Angel of Fredericksburg should have been awarded a posthumous Congressional Medal of Honor. The Federal soldiers who fought for the Union at Fredericksburg would welcome his recognition.
Sometimes people tell me "Thank you for your service," and I just nod my head and move on, because the wouldn't have said it when they saw me come off the plane from Vietnam. But THESE are the men and women who should be thanked far and beyond our poor abilities to do so.
Mr. Block, There are those who may have been ignorant, were very wrong or deceived about your service in Vietnam. I was a child then, so didn't understand all the discord about the war. But I was raised by a proud Army veteran to love my country, honor those who served, to weep over those who lost their lives spilling blood for my freedom, and to cherish those who are blessed enough to come home. Thank you, sir, for answering the call to arms. I rejoice you came home, & hope you have lived a full life.
Among the many benefits given to medal of honor recipients is free flights on all us aircraft all military personnel will salute you nomatter the rank and your decendants will have a spot in in any service academy of their choosing (ie. Westpoint, Annapolis ect)
what does it mean to receive the medal of honor? to me it says that there are limits to "going above and beyond the call of duty" and when you surpass those limits is when you get the medal of honor. thank you to every past, present and future recipient of this medal as you have demonstrated that you are what we see in real heroes.
@@jamespiattsr7758 not really, most awards in the military are awarded for going above and beyond the call of duty but the difference with the medal of honor is that most who are awarded it are awarded it posthumously or they died because of their brave actions. I watched a video on the differences between the medal of honor and being knighted by the queen of england and in that video was a story of a military Chaplin who personally carried at least 20 injured soldiers to medical helicopters during vietnam and was awarded the medal for it
William Kyle Carpenter is a medically retired United States Marine who received the United States' highest military honor, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in Marjah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2010. Carpenter is the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient.
I hope these incredible chaps never have to pay for a beer, never have to pay a parking ticket, and would be welcomed as a guest into any home in the USA, for the rest of their lives. I would far rather be awarded a MOH than a Nobel Prize.
Just think of them now, EACH ONE OF THEM POTENTIALLY WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIFE FOR A FELLOW SOLDIER!!!!!!!!! MAY GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Not too sure of the airline who flew them but is it the best idea to put all of them on the same plane? They’re a national treasure and it would be an absolute tragedy if we lose any of them. Only 66 remain alive.
When will they ever build a Medal of Honor memorial in Washington DC? Just announced a memorial for Desert Storm which was a very short fight. I don't think that should be cancelled but a Medal of Honor memorial should have been constructed long ago.
I wasn't born in USA, but love how they treat their veterans and war heroes. Long live this great nation!
Our V/A is terrible, the only “lovely treatment” veterans get is a couple discounts and a pat on the back. The government doesn’t care about our military. A lot of our soldiers end up as homeless, addicted or both.
@@Coolguy992 They can apply for SNAP, housing, college, etc. I think only the people who are in to drugs suffer a lot.
Thank You.
Hahahahahha great nation hahahahaha
Not all veterans get this treatment. Sadly some end up
Homeless and most don’t talk about it or get the welcome until years later.
1:56 thank you for your service Korean War veteran
Thanks to your sacrifice, we're alive.
From an old beat up disabled vet....I was almost moved to tears watching this.
From a beat up civilian, thank you for your service sir.
dabprod from a honored, proud American citizen...thank you for your service sir.
"Above and beyond the call of duty...." It's telling that even a five star General salutes a recipient of the Medal Of Honor. They represent the highest values of courage and sacrifice in our country.
Even the president of the United States is required to salute a middle of Honor recipient
You have to salute a Medal of Honor recipient even if they're a lower rank.
Technically, the Medal of Honor gets the salute, not the recipient, but the rank of a medal-wearing recipient only matters if they encounter another medal-wearing recipient.
Wow. Those that saw all these veterans with the Medal of Honor is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
🇺🇸
I got chills watching this. God bless you guys.

From the UK. The greatest respect to these guys…
Each one of you are not regular people. Each of you are the shining example of what a hero is.
Putting someone else's life above one's own, even for just a short period of time, is heroic and brings tears to my eyes.
AMEN, ME TOO
No greater love has a man who would lay down his life for a friend.

What an awesome clip. Can’t imagine how LOUD those bagpipes were in the cabin of that plain.

Let each one of us have a SERIOUS moment of silence for everyone who UNFORTUNATELY DID NOT or WILL NOT make it home !!!! 😭😭😭😭
There is still some amazing signs of excellent respect in the USA that is worthy of admiration.
The best America has. How could anyone. Possibly object to this video?
Great respect and appreciation for veterans:-)
These heroes need to be honored.! Any man or woman who fought for freedom anywhere in the world is a hero in my book.!🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏😊

To think that a TSA employee confiscated a Medal of Honor because he thought it was just another sharp, pointed, metal object.

미국 영웅들 미국이 강대국인 이유가 이런분들의 희생때문이란걸 알아야된다
The difference between the MOH and any other medal is that the MOH involves saving lives. The others are for eliminating the enemy.
Not really. DSC, NC and AFC sometimes involve saving lives, and some MOH recipients received the medal for killing enemies like John Basilone
