I found the same concerning thing abt lack of women artists in my wrapped as well. Then I realized; almost every week, there were albums by women I would listen to a few times and then move on, so statistically I probably listened 2 an equal amount of artists by sex, but individually the women are less represented in my wrapped, since I would actually go back throughout the year and listen to the same male artists (yung lean, bladee n baby keem were my top 3) also, congrats on the internship man!

No hate Matt, love the videos but politicizing your music listening behavior is crazy, relax, no harm was done by listening to music you like. There are plenty of great female artists out there, same with the fellas, just listen to what you like. What's next? Not wearing enough clothes designed by a woman? Not consuming enough food products that come from companies with a female CEO? What about POC or religious minorities? Such approaches will just burn you out and achieve very little, the best way to be a good feminist as a man today is to not actively harm the women around you and instead support and enable them (like reviewing a female artist's work or whatever). No need to adapt a quota system into your music listening habits (which would just end up being a form of tokenism). That won't make a difference in the world besides maybe make you feel good about yourself or something which is toxic towards yourself because your sense of how good you feel about yourself shouldn't be linked to how others judge you. xoxo
