I have a 790 which I love, but its quite jerky and annoying at low speeds, especially from a cold start. I'm really surprised it got released in that form with such an obvious fuelling issue. Once the bike has warmed up it's much better. When it's in its happy zone, above 3000 revs, it's a dream... that said the 890 seems like a good upgrade. Thanks for a good review for real world ownership.
👍 Great bike. I had both a 790 Duke and 790 Adventure. The Adventure was not like the Duke in that regard, they changed the fuelling I suspect. Have you seen CampbellZeroOne channel. He used a booster plug on his to improve low rev fuelling. ruclips.net/video/upvc1oJgWdM/видео.html
Good review codger. I rode the Duke 890r recently whilst my 790 adv was being serviced and I was stunned by its performance and handling. Filtered through heavy Nottingham traffic immediately on jumping on the bike then through some quick Twisties and onto a couple of fast roads and found it outstanding across the board. Not sure how long I would keep my licence if I owned one though as it was quite rapid 🤣

Those are the best factory mirrors I’ve had on on motorcycle, but ended up putting KTM bar ends. I went with the Arrow Race Pro can and it sounds amazing.
I have a 790. Went one tooth down on the drive sprocket and one toth up on the rear sprocket. Rides like a 890 now....well almost. Stops most of the clutch slipping at low speeds

Time flies! Bolt can fall off anything. Loctite I say! I’m still loving the 690, but feeling a supermoto of some kind might be in the far far distance 😉👍
Remarkably, in those conditions which were about as bad as it could be, they were rock solid. I was really impressed as they basically looked like track tyres to me 👌

That's how I felt about my Duke 790. But this one will go steady too, ready to be unleashed when required 🤣👍

The mirrors were very good I agree, but bar end much better 👌 Good the endcan is still switchable. Great bike 👍
No what you mean about the 790 ended up having a re map done on mine to smooth things out.
Yes. It was only annoying in town. Once clear it was fine. I bet the remap helped a lot 👍
Here in the States, it does come with complete pillion conversion.

In my opinion you'll be fine. If concerned ride in rain mode for a while. Ride safe 👍
