I give up. Been playing all year, NMS 3.3m MT, just been saving and strategically upgrading. You can definitely compete in the other modes...but my drive is the build best team possible and duke it out in unlimited. It's at the point now where the paywall is creating a massive competitive advantage. It wasn't an issue at the beginning, when the cards weren't prevalent...but the meta has shifted drasttically. I'm in a high SBMM bracket...everyone has absurd teams, just played a dude with 100 Jordan and Kareem...it's really blown my mind how many people are dumping money gambling real money into a video game.
The most frustrating thing for NMS there is no option to upgrade/build your team the way the game was laid out to be played. I'm done with 10-15 hour grinds for some opal I don't like (AR, Worthy, Middleton) or some deluxe pack with a bum that won't play. They took all the fun out of this...they're clearly pushing a guy like me to gamble from frustration, but I have too much self awareness to go down that track to play 2k.

As soon as I learned 2K was removing the Auction House, I knew they were turning the game mode into an online Casino. They don’t care about the community anymore, they are just trying to grab as much money as possible before the game mode gets replaced

Last Iconic pack I pulled Klay, Unauctionable Penny, Kid and today last pack I had sitting before the maestro drop Wilt. All MT earned from playing. So it's possible. Now I don't blow it all at once I open 3 packs max per boot up of the game daily, this is between singles and exchanges. Then I stop and move on about my day. I'm not sitting there blowing 300k a day. But I do play a lot so he's not lying
Imagine still not ripping an opal. I have ripped close to 2.5 mil mt since all star packs and still haven’t ripped not one opal. Not everyone pack odds equal and does feel like game forcing you to spend money.

I got drob from pulling 3 singles Wild West week then wall after like 100k but the luck comes and goes. Iconic and todays set have been terrible for me it’s all a gamble and if someone has been lucky, their luck will get adjusted down the line so that the house (2k) always wins

All I do with my MT is buy packs. Spent 800K mt in one sitting for the iconic set. Not one opal

Other issue with packs being so expensive and so many now going NMS, most teams look the same from Agenda Rewards. The only teams you see different are those spending money or those just starting out

I haven’t played NBA2k in a couple years. But this past week it’s been free on XBox game pass so i decided I try it again.
Immediately I was shocked by the current setup of how to get players. I thought the old system was bad but they managed to find a way to make it even more addicting by gambling.
Reason I stopped playing a couple years ago was because I was spending to much $. Soon as MLB the show drops next week this game is getting deleted again.
Damn, you described me perfectly at the end. I hoarded 1.4 mil and spent most of it on today's drop lol. I got artest and kyrie though. I'm overall happy, but you're 100% right, this sucks.
as somone who played lots of cs when i was younger i was exposed to gambling early on and got addicted very quick. I needed therapy and counseling to eventually move past my addiction and the fact that kids these days are being forced into gambling addictions for profit is disgusting. i love basketball and this is really our only option but this is just sad

Since I stopped buying packs my cards have started glitching. Passing to wrong person, major lag spikes happening, not being able to pull up player icons, and repeated CPU controlled fouls. The game is rigged!!

I was a hardcore fifa player for many years and I moved the last year to nba 2k, besides knowing it's the same gambling sistem or even more agressive. I'm being completely honest, I like myteam because it's similar to ultimate team, but the fact that i'm not so in to nba (only know quite a few playres - the most famous ones) I just play it offline and the grind is getting mt to buy them like lebron, kd, etc...
One more thing. Maybe it's because im getting older, but for me there is literally no point on spending money in this knowing that the next year you will have to start all over from scratch and after two years the servers are shutdown and nobody plays it no more. Safe you money guys, and just enjoy the game, once you guys realize this you will enjoy it more
Facts. Myteam is fun aside from wanting the newest cards every other week. I understand the frustration but I’ve had an outdated team for the longest and still enjoy competing against the ppl who have pulled the best cards, but 2k should jus bring the auction house back . Simple

I remember after the MT ban last year I said I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of the auction house and got to VC only or packs only for cards and a bunch of people told me I was stupid and "they would never do that because everybody would quit." Sadly I was mostly right. I hope I'm not this time, but it's becoming clearer that as DBG predicted, this has become a pay to play mobile game.
Its kind of wild thinking about it. If 2k just had the sets be $50 a week and lets say someone buys 30 of the sets out of the games cycle that would be $1500. I would think financially making the cards available would do better for the long run. Because an average Joe is more than likely fine spendjng $50 if they can pick which Opal they want.

Yup I pulled that onyx kobe, I was running around my neighborhood like a maniac. After that year myteam became a money grab
i got opal giannis from my free unlimited bundle, and i got pd kobe and klay from it last season. free cards are good enough, i have no need to buy packs
I bought 3 of the 21K maestro packs pulled my first Opal of the Year with Hedo used it once to see how trash the card was n instantly resold it for 96K MT to make 35K, honestly wasnt even excited that i pulled an Opal, 2K has literally sucked all the fun n enjoyment out of MyTeam
I got KD out of the Allstar pack and I haven’t gambled since. I wouldn’t even take him over Diamond Paolo

It’s so funny that these RUclipsrs are saying 2k is promoting gambling for kids. But they don’t realize kids are generally not even playing my team anymore. The game is DEAD as a doornail. Kids are too busy playing Fortnite to even think about 2k. 2k is only promoting this gambling for grown adults who have enough common sense to know what to spend their money on.

I hate that I had to delete the game, I hate that videos like this have to get made, I hate that we HAVE to just deal with whatever 2k throws at us because it’s the only option, I hate that we can’t use our favorite players, I hate that we can’t grind, or just plain but a specific player, and I hate that if there’s ever by some miracle there is a small win for the players, they change odds, difficulty, rules, or whatever to make it worse. It’s a damn video game, we all want to just have fun, play with a smile, and move on with our day, if anyone gets that out of this game, please speak up! Because I truly 100 percent believe it’s not possible. Being an avg player with a full time job. Awful awful way to play, so disappointing

I am sitting on 3.8mill mt i refuse to gamble it - I will buy cards that I deem worth buying, atm that's none of them. I ain't buying to gamble and get an opal dame or something either from an equal chance lock in. I will blow it on packs when there's some decent guaranteed cards near end of the cycle if they don't give me better cards in the player market eventually.
2k is uninstalled, can’t play with Kobe without locking in ten sets for a pink diamond or gamble for an Opal , take the man off the front cover . I’m don’t with 2k and it’s bullshit thanks dbg for the good content over the years

I have been playing myteam since 2k16 and i played it the whole year until the next one. And the only two I quit playing halfway through was nba 2k23 and nba 2K24 they both are in conversation with nba 2k18 of being so bad. I just don’t get it make the boxes cheaper why one 20 box is 50$ dollars. 100$ should get you at least 4-5 boxes

Gambling is growing worse, since it is so easily available for us all. Fanduel and their likes... The fact, my 9 year old son plays and the grind for him, lets say to get Allen Iverson, 15 domination games with 50 points. But if you spend real money, the grind is not as bad. This game is toast.

Respectfully I was one of the people buying packs with mt regardless 😂😂 did not care about a 100k card because they weren’t the best so I just said I’m going for the best card every time and if I didn’t then oh well 🤷♂️🤷♂️ it’s a game. To clarify I was not nms and would spend money when I felt I could or wanted to and spending of mt was fine and it got me to 250k tourney lol. But In hindsight taking better care of my mt would’ve gave me a better team but oh well
The fact they don't even have deluxe packs in the pack market is just horrible.. thats what proves 2k wants us to spend all our hard earned money on packs without a real chance of pulling a good card. It's getting pathetic

I get 2-3 opals a week and it cost about 100 cash and me selling a few cards too. But I always get duplicate opals. I got cousins twice and Ray Allen twice. 2k is garbage
man this year horrible. fist time playing 2k24 was last week cause of game pass. i played the game for 4 days and uninstalled. u don’t get enough MT for playing the game. CPU so stupid i still have no control over my players like other years of 2k. algo is crazy too.HOF pass stinks, still not rewarding enough. I don’t see any positives in the mode. If unsellable packs were not in the game 2k would be 70% better

Its a huge issue mainly considering this is a GAME. People play to have fun during their free time for the most part. It is so easy to mindlessly spend money on here, why wouldnt you want to have the most fun you can when you finally decide to relax and rewind? however it goes both ways, why on earth would you spend time compare prices and sweat searching the whole market? It is time consuming, so people dont put in the effort, which lets 2k get away with this. If more people seriously broke it down and saw how much money they are losing, I believe it would be much more recognized as a MAJOR problem. Lets face it, the people who are really feeding 2k all this money couldnt even imagine going in debt or having money struggles, so yet again they dont look into it and it goes over their head. But when someone accidently goes in credit card debt from this, it is a glaring issue but these certain people dont have the platform ( or public image) to preach about how this is so messed up. They are screwing over the lower class completely, while2k as a company couldnt care less, because there is always those people who can carelessly fall into these traps, and flush 2k with money, while suffering so little of a financial los,s that they dont even realize these things are happening.
Basically this was going to happen at some point, the owners just werent that low yet... you just have to hope the ceos and whatnot arent complete assholes because the game and market is completely in their hands. Just look at the turnaround after 2k decides to give us money well spent content... straight gambling, but since hopes are up, people buy and so on.... its already happened like 4 or 5 times this year.
Went on 23 and opened 4 end game packs and got all 4 end game players like this 2k the worst 2k ever between way less locker codes and encouraging you to gamble

Everybody is acting like gambling in Myteam is a new thing, however gambling has been the backbone of the mode forever. Its disgusting and unethical and the auction house was obviously better for non gamblers, however even participating in the AH was participating in gambling by other people. The whole system was based on people who arent you, gambling.
The only way for cards to get to the auction house, was for people to gamble on packs and not get the cards they wanted. It made it easier for some people to not gamble, but relied on gambling of others to create available cards for the auction house. If people didn't gamble, you would have had no access to cards. Somebody has always gambled so that others didnt have to. The problem is just more apparent now because it affects everybody directly.
It isnt right that 2k is forcing everybody to gamble in order to engage with the content that they want to engage with. But this mode has always relied on gambling, so everybody can't act like this is a new thing.
