Why do we do this to ourselves? It is lovely as it is and continuing with bullion knots will make it lovelier still. Looking forward to seeing it develop. 😀💚💚💚
Oh dear, the voices in your head sound like the voices in mine! But at least you have gotten a bit beyond them and told them to be quiet and moved ahead anyway. They scare me too much and I worry about failure. But, one day, I will walk beyond too. Your work is beautiful.
I think we all have those voices. If I start questioning myself, I'll walk away from it for about 24 he's. Then come back & reevaluate. And 9 times out of 10 I continue with my original plan. Lol Bad voices! With urs I also see an underwater scene. But at 2nd glance the purple reminds me of a beautiful bunch of purple waters. I have a feeling, no matter what u choose to do, it will be absolutely lovely. In the meantime, tell those voices to shut up & have a big cold drink! ✌🏻🪡
I actually like it exactly how it is. The voice is good and it sounded like you were working through it pretty well to me. I am also an artist and do a similar process of discussions with my higher self 😊
Thank you. Sometimes those conversations in my head are helpful. Other times, not so much. Haha. This piece is still just hanging out and waiting for me to finish.
That voice is what makes us creative and keep going. I'm one that wonders if anyone is going to like it. Than I'm saying, what does it matter. I think most of us are full of insecurit. It usually ends up that they all love what I do. But again, I have to stretch myself to do better. This is not a fault
I love what you've done there, Susan. I do like those couple of places where the green bullion stitches seem to burst away from the center. And I'm with you. I'm not at all brave about covering things up. I cower at the thought and try to push myself to do it. Then watch other artists, like ShelC make gorgeous backgrounds and cover them ALL up. And I end up loving her piece. For the most part, I try to listen to what the piece wants. Does it want more? Does it want that?
Hiya Susan! :) Could you possibly take some colored chalk that would wash out and give it some highlights and lowlights before committing to thread? Just a thought!
Each time you work on this piece I’m inspired. Too bad it’s not 3 different pieces. I loved them all. Honestly these bullion knits are gorgeous. And the feather stitches are great to anchor it all together. I’m popping popcorn for the live. I’m in suspense to see what you do next.
@@SusanTaylorBrown it’s like watching a sequel to Star Wars. I’m in my sleeping bag waiting fir the ticket booth to open. Can hardly wait to see what you will do next.
I see seaweed and coral...its turning into an underwater scene Add 1 more color? Blue bubbles (French knots?) or a peachy color or another shade of purple for more coral.
When I start a stitching book (which is the case now, I’ve just started my first page), I never have a plan. If I get stuck or hear voices, I stop and I do something else completely different, like painting or drawing. Unfortunately I don’t have any friends who like any kind of art, so I can’t ask anyone’s opinion. So, the page stays there waiting until I feel like going on. I have a cover of a book that I started months ago, but somehow I got stuck. That poor cover is there still waiting. I don’t need it, so I don’t care. If you love green (I love green too) and you want to stitch, let’s say, everything in green, that’s totally ok. If you want to cover up the feather stitch, that’s totally ok too. The work is yours, you do whatever makes you happy. If green makes you happy, go for it 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Hi Susan, Is there anyway that I could do the bullion knots with my only left hand? Is there anyway? I wonder if anyone could figure out a way to do it with one hand? I love the way you make it. It is very pretty.Judy
why do you keep saying "I need to stop"? talking things out with yourself is part of the process. This is a fabulous piece so far, maybe try making bullion knots in between the feather stitch? And I disagree about not listening to the voices in your head, I always know when I've made crap and I chuck it in the crap pile. Likewise, I know when I've made something awesome

Love this piece
My goal is to learn how to manage that inner critic! Thank you for sharing, Susan.
I love it 🥰. My three favourite stitches too.

I fix a whole lot. I find the most successful pieces I have were fixed and fixed again.
Yes go with the flow. Could you please show us feather stitch. I like your instruction

No I don’t plan my projects much but I really dislike undoing stitches so I just stitch more over it. Layers make it look better anyway. Thanks!
