      @@liambuckley9370 same as me, have done for years and years, it's one of my favourite sitcoms with some of the best jokes that you sometimes think on for a minute, that others may not notice. It's that subtly that makes it believable, the characters are lovable and I feel like there isn't a sitcom out there right now that could match it artistically. When it does come back I will be watching it, hoping that a new generation can enjoy it just as much, I hope it can keep the original pacing and there is no social political pandering that feels off or dishonest for the character.

      They don't make TV sitcoms like they used to..
      Cheers
      Night Court
      Frasier
      MASH
      Wings
      Cosby Show
      Golden Girls
      Married with Children
      Roseanne
      Seinfeld
      Who's the Boss
      Home Improvement
      Drew Carey show
      Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
      What a decade that was from the mid 80's to the mid 90's. There won't ever be a lineup of sitcoms like that ever again.

    • @Aidanhatesyouall
      @Aidanhatesyouall 4 года назад +3

      Jason Burger no no Frasier on cheers is different in a number of ways than frasier on Frasier! He’s a lot more of a “common man” in cheers, and doesn’t mind hanging out in a bar with other guys and drinking beer and what not, whilst in Frasier he is wearing more expensive suits, shuns the idea of drinking beer, and bars aren’t really his thing. Niles is more so to blame on that one. If you can check out the season 3 episode of Frasier “you can go home again” which will give you an idea how Frasier started to adapt right from Boston to Seattle vs the pilot of Frasier which takes place 6 months after Frasier moves back to Seattle and became the Frasier of Frasier. Of course they’re the same in a lot of ways, but different of course. Our tastes change, and the people we spend time around definitely have an impact on the things we say and do I believe. It’s life, and progression

      Amazing ! Indeed when I was younger I loved Shakespeare and philosophy , English reading and writing , ancient cultures and literature, Dante’s inferno ,myths and folktales , Edgar Alan Poe , art work and museums so I would find certain things funny but I was still young and as I got older and continued to pursue such interests and rewatched the show out of childhood nostalgia I was like ooommggg this is why I love this show so much lllol always with the comedy about morality and virtue , what is just and right vs what is wrong or selfish , irony about all thr mishaps given his and Niles profession and how they are still figuring things out too and don’t always have all thr answers and in such a hilarious way at times even that side of showing their lifestyle living more upscale and upper class yet still have hardships and struggles and their own family dynamics . Their egos and delusions of grandeur , lol and how they get a reality check , lmao also how much they don’t always know about “the common man “ and how their father is just always there to get them off their high horse and ground them in other ways of life . It’s hilarious but also so very intelligent and academic and I learned so much as well. I felt like I could always relate to the brothers lol 😂 I was always interested in things in school that thr other kids completely thought was boring and geeky or nerdy I actually enjoyed learning and was also late in thr game of dating and all that stuff I just didn’t think it was that important to follow what the other kids were doing , I friggin loved channel 13 PBS ! Lol love musicals and watching operas and ballet and even got into theater and acting myself and performance art so when I watched it again I just adore it all because the way fraiser “over thinks and analyzes “ his choices vs what he may desire and trying to be rational yet loosen up sometimes and enjoy without guilt is totally me 😂😂

    I know a lot of people ask, "How can you have Frasier without John Mahoney?"
    First, Rest in Peace, John. Thanks for all the laugh's. You are missed.
    As Kelsey said in this clip, "Life goes on". It is that simple. I learned this fact when my Dad passed away in July 2012. That was the worst time in my life. I still miss him everyday. But Life goes on whether we want it to or not. You learn to go on without that treasured loved one. It's NOT EASY!!! But you learn.
    Yes, we will miss John being on Frasier. But we will enjoy seeing everyone else. These character's became part of our lives in the 90's. I will enjoy seeing how they're doing now.
    I got through some rough time's because these Actor's & Actress's gave me something to laugh at. Something to distract me from the terrible thing's going on in my life. Especially from 1995 onward! Laughter IS the best medicine!
    So I look forward to seeing these character's again. I, too, will miss John Mahoney, but Life does go on.

      Like you said in another comment, the last few (I would say the last two) seasons couldn't even match the ones preceding them. It seemed like the writing got stale, but what's more is that Niles and Daphne became a couple. I guess it was something audiences were waiting for, but the on screen chemistry just didn't work between Leeves and Hyde-Pierce. You could tell the two personalities behind the characters just weren't comfortable being close together. No offense to Hyde-Pierce - I think he does a phenomenal job in every role he plays - but for me he seems very awkward portraying heterosexual men (the movie "Down With Love" is one example). What seemed to work well for both Hyde-Pierce and the show as a whole was a distance from any romantic relationships whatsoever. His marriage to Maris was made both believable and funny simply by the fact that we never saw her. So what you had in the role of Niles was something of a "married bachelor." For Hyde-Pierce AND the show, this was a winning role, and sold me on the Niles character. With the lack of chemistry between the actors (sorry to repeat myself) any romantic relationship between the two just wasn't funny or believable, and I think it actually degraded the integrity of the show. That aside, both Hyde-Pierce and Leeves are FINE FINE FINE actors. Just my thoughts and humble opinion.

    • @Ralph_Sandwich
      @Ralph_Sandwich 4 года назад +5

      @@TVHouseHistorian very well said. I agree with you 100% on everything. I only rewatch episodes b4 they got together. Also Leeves character started out amazingly fresh and the perfect contrast to the pretentious Cranes but by the time her and Niles got together she was written just as pretentious or in my opinion even worse. The jokes in the first few seasons were often belly laugh inducing and they didn't belittle the viewers intelligence. By the last few seasons it was like watching a completely different show. I'd love to revisit Niles but you're right. Come to think of it, I'm now officially on team "no reboot please".

    • @TVHouseHistorian
      @TVHouseHistorian 4 года назад +4

      @@Ralph_Sandwich Haha!!! Well, time will tell as to whether or not they actually do a reboot, and IF it's even worth its salt. I've never seen a truly successful reboot yet, and the main reason for that always has to do with the fact that the network prepares audiences for the reboot by selling it, basically, as a continuation of a successful series we have nostalgic and fond memories of. The product we get in actuality is a completely different program that resembles nothing of what we remember. First of all, the characterization of each character gets stale throughout a series anyway, to the point where each actor begins to lose touch with the essence of the character they originally created. The writers also lose touch with that characterization over time as well, and once both writer and actor lose touch with the essence of a character, that usually spells the end of a series. Then 20 years later, a network attempts a reboot of something that had already gone stale after a 10 year run, and even with all original actors in place, the characters wind up being completely unrecognizable. I guess in all their desperation to stay relevant, networks haven't figured out that rebooting a former hit series with all the same actors doesn't work, first and foremost because the actors are no longer able to "conjure," if you will, the essences of their original characters. Even on a subconscious level, audiences immediately pick up on this phenomenon, and the reboot fails - as we have seen in EVERY SINGLE REBOOT THEY'VE DONE IN THE LAST 5 YEARS!!! Let's face it, American television has lost its ability to be both funny and entertaining. The fumbling fop writers try to pass off as humor nowadays is extremely artificial, as it depicts a culture that has surrendered itself to laziness, cynicism, and anger.

    • @Ralph_Sandwich
      @Ralph_Sandwich 4 года назад +3

      @@TVHouseHistorian you just perfectly described Trailer Park Boys after they moved to Netflix and even after season 3 of the original run. The boys became characters of themselves and it lost everything that made it what it was. The head writer/creator saw this and sold the show to the actors so they could bastardize it even more. American television is complete drivel now. Shows like The Wire, Mad Men and The Sopranos will never be around again.
      What's worse is it isn't just television or just happening in America. TV, movies, video games, music, sports, . .. Everything is a shell of what it once was replaced by quarterly profits and out of touch CEO's. Maybe I'm just projecting my grey feelings towards life but many others seem to agree. There's still some good stuff out there but you really gotta dig through all the bullshit to find it.

    Can't wait for the return of Frasier comeback. It was one of the best shows of all times. It's sad that John Mahoney is no longer with us. The banter between Frasier and Martin was a riot.

    we first saw him on Cheers. "hello Sam, I'm Dr Frasier Crane" and he stood up at the bar. And thus began our long joyous association with this incredible actor.

    I have dinner with Frasier every night.
    The Hallmark channel shows 8 episodes, late night through early morning, every night.
    I record them and watch at dinner.
    Now I'm just waiting on that reboot, Kelsey! 🙂

    Kelsey gets Frasier questions all the time. He was 100% PERFECT for Beast in X-men too! One of the greatest casting choices ever! People need to quit looking for a demographic. When I was a freshmen the only show I watched after school was Golden Girls. (I now work in a school and 3 years ago a kid placed that as his favorite show on TV. Which shocked the hell out of me. Whether it was real or for humorous answer didn't matter.)
