    The second gun I ever bought was the Beretta Cheetah. It's 380, and very comfortable to shoot. I also grabbed a Bersa Thunder due to its value. Again, very comfortable to shoot and very accurate. And at the end of the day, who breaks into your house, looks at your gun and goes "Lol, it's just a 380."

    Nice review. Thank you. I have this gun and it is concealable, easy to shoot and easy to operate with arthritis. I also have a Ruger LCP Max for pocket carry. It is has more muzzle. flip and recoil. The main thing is shot placement. Up close they are both good. Add some distance and the Security 380 excels. I know that for new shooters its a great gun to let them use at the range as it does not scare them with its recoil/muzzle flip.

    Saw the promos on that gun, especially it taking 15 round mags, and went n bought one. Took it to the range, shot it, n was surprised of very little recoil. Ex wife shot it n loved the ease of shooting it so bought her one. For those who believe 380 ammo doesn’t have good stopping power I use Hornady Critical Defense ammo as my carry ammo.

      Watch Northwoods Testing , Tools &Targets, and Gun Sam Aficionado"s videos on U tube for 380 ammo tests. I am not a fan of Hornady's "Critical Defense" ammo especially in 380. I say this to help you better equip yourself with the best 380 ammo. There are better options. In 9mm their "Critical Duty" 124 gr is one of the best! However In 380 their "Critical Defense" doesn't seem to be a very good one.

    Nice review. I like the security 380. It’s a great gun when bringing family and friend new shooters to the range. Great for those that have hand and wrist issues. It’s dependable and accurate, good for sport and self defense, hand issues or not.

    I actually purchased this pistol as soon as hit the shelf … Picked it up a very good deal
    Probably 1K though it
    I only use FNFMJ and it has eaten them all
    I have purchased a Galloway +10% RSA
    With that it even reduces the recoil more .. amazing
    I don’t have reduced hand strength
    Im not recoil sensitive
    I have been shooting semiautomatic pistol’s for 40 + years…
    So .. why do I love this pistol???
    Crazy fast follow up shots in 18oz (sub compact 26ish) sized pistol
    Not only fast but accurate follow up shots
    Mozambique drills made easy

Academy does not have layaway , I had rifle on layaway at a another place, so I waited until I got that one off ,that didn't stop me from getting extra magazines

    Great review thank you!!! My wife and 2 older daughters have been wanting to start shooting and I've been taking them to the range. They mostly shoot my 22 pistol and are not crazy about the recoil on my 9mm's so this might just be worth getting for them as an in between the 22 & 9mm.

    Just got mine today. I have had 4 surgeries on my right hand and elbow and 4 in my left. Nerve damage. Ive had 2 spinal cord surgeries and titanium plates and screws in my neck. I can not use any other gun except for this one. I tried. I think this is fantastic for people like me. For the few people that I've talked to that talks about a 380 not being good protection, i just tell them that I could get another gun, but i couldn't fire it, so it would basically be a paper weight.

    I chose this Ruger 380 over the smaller, shorter LCP type guns, even though they cost less and are much easier to carry daily. I chose it also over the Smith for the capacity, etc. I am SO GLAD that I did. I have plenty of 9's and 45s but wanted a smaller easier to shoot 380 , but I didn't want a 6,7,8 round single stack. Its a great pistol to shoot and I can keep it on target and make faster follow up shots on target than most all of my 9mms. Its a great lil pistol imho. Xtra 15 round mags are inexpensive as well. I also have the Girsan MC14T which is a all metal Berretta 86 clone with a tip up barrel that is 4.25" long. I believe the 380 needs all the barrel you can give it. Chronometer tests of 380 ammo usually confirm this. The Girsan is a DA/SA tho and weighs a bit more so I wouldn't carry it as easily. The Ruger wins again as a carry with 15 rounds and less weight over the Girsan MC14T that I have. The Girsan is 13+1 and a fine 380 as well but the DA/SA requires more skill imho.

    My hand strength is going and I have nerve damage. I have one for times when I can't use my 9mms or other 380s. I have some 9mm rounds that are still doable though it is a very limited number. Ftuted solid copper rounds in a 380 work just great (Lehigh, Underwood, and g9). I do love my new Cheetah 80X 380 as well.

    I recently acquired one of these, and have put about a hundred rounds through it. I have had several failures to eject that jammed it, and a couple of failures of the slide to lock back after the last round. I blame the ammo for these problems. I was shooting low-cost ammo; I will be loading higher-quality stuff from now on. It is pleasant to shoot, especially with the 10-round mag in it.

    The guy at the gun store showed me this gun and it has the easiest slide ever, but if you get a gun this size you might as well get a 9mm. Anyway my wife has a S&W 380 Bodyguard and its okay just use Hornady ammo if you want a 380.

    • @rmikel14789
      @rmikel14789 3 месяца назад

      Good choice. You are actually using 9 mm, this is 9 mm short, AKA 9 x 17 mm, the difference I believe is it’s loaded with less powder and a lighter
      around creating less spell recoil at the expense about 33 to 50% muzzle, energy, and exchange. The contract is still deadly enough at close range. However, I wouldn’t trust 380 ACP beyond 25 yards. Realistically 15 yards maybe 20. However, home defense gun and a fun training, gun, even a concealed carry gun absolutely. This will be hard to conceal, however, it’s light enough that loaded and will be same weight as say, Springfield hellcat with a 13 round magazine. The only issue is size here. This is not a concealed carry gun, however, it is just small enough to be a concealed carry piece in an emergency or if a person shoots it well, then this is their gun. We had to remember the 380 ACP was always designed to be an up-close and personal fight stopper. I’m not at all concerned. Is the regular 9 mm better? Yes. I’m coming around to the idea that a Ruger LCP Max, that recoil less than a Springfield Hellcat For its intended role as an up and close fight stopper, has a place.

    Galloway Precision sells some very nice aftermarket upgrades to the Ruger Security 380 (& 9mm, and many other mfgrs!). Including a new +3 round magazine bumper, for your 15 round mags, to total 18 rounds!

    How would you compare the Ruger to the P365 .380, my ATF CC?

    • @DaGunGuy
      @DaGunGuy  5 месяцев назад +3

      GOOD QUESTION! I should probably do a quick video on that. It's a tough question for me to answer because I shoot the P365-380 a LOT and I'm definitely bias in favor of the P365 over almost any CCW! I carry and shoot the P365 more than any of my other guns so shooting it is close to second nature for me. I think the Sig is easier to CC because it's smaller (the P365 is .72" shorter in length, .8" shorter in height and 4 oz lighter). I think the Sig shoots very soft and easy BUT the Ruger does, imo, have less recoil. The Ruger is easier to rack, has a crisper trigger and it does have higher capacity (15+1 vs 12+1). Anyhow, that would be my quickie comparison.

    Not so pleasant when you need to tap rack every other round because the recoil and mag springs are weak and the feed ramp is poorly made.
