I really like this idea, honestly. Taking a step back from the doom and gloom of the constant combat of the Rimworld and just making a living out in the land, it's a nice change of pace. It's not a combat focused series, it's just a place to settle down and rest for the night. It kinda reminds me of this one moment during D-Day where two American medics set up a hospital in the church and healed friend and foe alike, with their motto, and enforced rule, being 'Leave your weapons at the door.'
I never mentioned this, but I knew (more like theorized) Nenaul was gonna be the main character of the rags to riches because Rat Knight said, "Maybe we will see him again" (he said it in the gun empire season 2 series if your wondering)
I’ve got 3 suggestions for mods to add 1. Door mats mod; to give the rooms a more homelike feel and secondly lessens the need for cleaning the rooms as much by having people wipe their feet before entering a room. There are two or three door mat mods and I don’t know which ones best but if a door mat is inside a room and of good quality it increases the room quality (maybe a quality increase mod too now that I think about it, become the best carpenters or something but that’s neither here nor there) 2.Dubs Bad hygiene; gives pawns human needs like the need to use a toilet, thus turning this place into a rest stop (we’ve all been on a long drive and needed to pull over to use the restroom, which helps pull in business). Dubs bad hygiene also lets you turn the “leavings” into chemfuel which you can use to sell to customers for any vehicles they may have and finally I think it adds sinks or showers (less certain of if it does since it’s been a while) if it does you can add it to the room prices for a toilet and sink/shower combo and become a gas station. 3. There’s a collectors mod or a plushie mod that I can’t remember the name of but some of them add plushies you can make so you could sell them at the gift shop.
Maybe having a clinic possibly a sorta back alley mob style doc would be another service you can offer. diversifying ones portfolio is what most business people do to make more money.
Jor real smart for being an ambassador of a business like this because he is disguise as a hamlet worker and if any kind of marshal services soldier make there way in hamlet he will gather informarion by maybe talking to them or eavesdropping
Real talk, why hasn't rimworld ever entertained the idea of an adventure mode like dwarf fortress? Being able to be a gutter rat in the big city, or a Merc fighting for a faction as a contractor, hell maybe even just getting a farming job, it could be really fun and open the game play a lot more. Plus it's kind of risky, instead of having five colonists, you only have yourself and maybe one or two companions, and if it's like dwarf fortress's adventure mode, your companions might just be NPCs you can't control besides a few commands and loadout options.
Btw the cash register works for a restaurant as well, you can switch it over from a store and they will actually act like a restaurant with servers and such, you can even have your colony be served at it when they aren't working, its really cool, can set up a kitchen and meal storage facility and link the fridge to the store from anywhere on the map.
I kinda like it especially cause the Hotel could become a neutral place for spies and ambassadors could come hold meetings in secret and marshals could drink or smoke or even the Rifle company could meet buyers on neutral ground.
There also is the hospital mod that allows you to open up a hospital with patients that other settlements will give you, you can set prices and such like with the hotel, as well as the museum mod that lets you open your own museum and find artifacts and bones and such you can show off to earn money too.
Lore suggestion: During the visit of the two officers, 19:45 Plum stayed close to Nenaul while the other officer Toni was kinda sniffing around. As she seems to be half thrumbonian i can see that getting her rank must have taken a lot of effort and maybe she owes something to Plum. Or maybe theyre just good friend. However I can´t really imagine that they wouldnt notice your pretty little garden and just let it go. If, of course, they werent somehow involved in black market and didnt come to make friends. And as they did leave you a pretty expensive gift, it would only make sense. Maybe in the future they will reach you with some kind of business proposal.

Lore drop for Lev, if you wouldn't mind - he was really good veterinarian, and loved animals with his whole soul, but at some point of his career, he couldn't save one animal, something small and cute like cat, dog or even racoon - like Ace Ventura, yeah - and had a complete meltdown which resulted him in roaming the wilds, plagued by self-destructing guilt, losing his humanity and sanity bit by bit. First he lost his mind, then he lost his clothes, became closer to the animals he held so dear. Because of his skill of veterinarian, which was engrained in his very being, he evaded or made peace with more dangerous animal in the wild, and he foraged what food he could find. And in that sorry state you found him, a blank slate with engrained skills, muscle memory and anguish hidden deeply in his souls. But maybe now, working for Nenaul, he could find some solace and maybe even redemption. PS Thanks for your hard work from you fellow knight (pun intended), rat-knight. A speak ez (I can't spell) is a awesome idea, and I think another idea that would be cool is if the idea that the independent Hamlets inc is kinda sold as a "oasis from the chaos" of the rest of deghom, were people from all factions and backgrounds can come together to talk and share stories but it would also be a place the oak foundation and similar intelligence organizations often come to the place to definitely not try and pass info to other agents or spies on others. It could kinda be a friendly competitor to the United traders in a attempt to unify the world but instead by trade, by a nice home/bar/meeting place for all
An ambassador is a representative of a governing body that resides in another country to influence the country that they live in with the likeness of their home country.
I think the condiments idea could be beneficial. If they find you growing smokeleaf you can just point out that your use it to make butter. And any other drugs that you decide to grow in the future. I wish there was an adventurers guild mod where you can give out quests to travelers. I think something like that would be perfect for your little hamlet as well. Like you get a quest from a faction or something but instead of doing it yourself you can put it up on a quest board and random npc's would accept the quest. The after they leave the map after a set time they would return having finished the quest or failing it. Like you wouldn't be doing quests for the guild you would BE the guild. But sadly nothing like that exists atm.
Lore Idea!! the ruins left in the area long ago used to be a known Marshal service meeting spot and staging area from before the peace treaty was signed, and Jor was sent to investigate the recent movement in the area.
Tbh the speakeasy idea is actually pretty cool, a hidden place for the people of the RMS to indulge themselves without the Service watching over their shoulder like a hawk. Also I would suggest maybe making some double bed rooms for lower paying tenants since many couples would want to visit but aren't exactly "high rollers"
Maybe you could strive to establish a major corporation in the planet, selling (non-weapon related) goods and services while rival corporations try to discredit or worse, wipe you out.

You should absolutely have some sort of gift shop or attire store to give the Hamlets a more resort feel. As others suggested with Dub’s bad Hygiene, I believe there is an add on that adds hot springs. In case you’re interested in expanding the Hamlet’s attractions.
Would make sense if your tavern has a small herbal shop that sells tea, ointments and other stuff made from homegrown drugs for pharmaceutical use since most of the people visiting would be travelers, soldiers etc and they would likely suffer from pain or mental issues so providing them with some relief after a long hard journey makes allot of sense

I think a private room preferably sound proof might be a good idea. Afterall if a certain gun empire wants to hold talks with people they dont necessarily want to be asscociated with, they need a neutral place to do so.
And since the series is in the same one as the Gun Empire, You should make the Gun Empire Base a deserted structure, which can be found later on, with the loot left in it, except the silver of course. Run-down, old, rusty, maybe a body here and there. It would be great to see something like that
The S&R Rifle Company's HQ is still operational (Even after the rebel nuke) and so are the S&R Rifle Company itself, It just merged with the United Trader faction which kinda acts like the UN and the S&R Mercs are just the peacekeepers/security guards.
However it might be interesting to see other locations from the RKRU series, the only abandoned RKRU Empire base was the Mining Empire, which is deep in Marshall territory, which in my opinion the only ones who could visit there was the Gun Empire (S&R Rifle Company).

Try the Smoke leaf industries mod, which lets you turn smokeleaf into more stuff like harder drugs or even smokeleaf stuff like medicine, lotions, food products, and even building material. Go all in on smokeleaf and I feel so long as you don't publicly sell drugs, the marshels might look the otherway if you are publicly providing say hemp powers, medicines and so on.
I feel like he should try looking into Cheese production, a good "whey" to make some money with that dairy gold. Plus get exotic cheeses that no one has had and you got a good way to be a unique businessman. Plus ve mechanoids have factories to make cheese production faster n easier if ya want. (the cheese production is ve cooking)

How about a smuggling operation, playing the part of hauling contraband, things like drugs, medicine, booze, explosives and other things that are not usually in towns, making profits on people's vices and needs
