Great overview on setup. I like that you've broken up the review into multiple videos. It's a little more "time friendly" in my opinion. I'm not going with ProTools but I think you're correct in saying that your instruction will apply to other DAWs as well. Using Reaper now, I'll comment again once I have my M-Audio and have hooked everything together. Thanks again (liked and subscribed).

Today 11FEB2021 I've got the M-Audio Pro 49 and looks like they changed a couple things: 1. the check box in settings of the software manager now is visible (white square) and the gear icon is now on the upper right corner. 2. the controller setup is slightly different: setup/perfipherals/Type: HUI, Receive from: Oxygen Pro 49, Mackie/HUI, Send to: Oxygen Pro 49, Mackie/HUI, #Ch's: 8

HI Beverly! It's a been a little while since I've used Mainstage, but if I remember correctly, you setup the mapping of the controller right within the Mainstage software. My ProTools First can not be controlled by the Oxygen Pro 61. I set the Daw right on the Oxygen and set it to Mac. Keys work but controls don’t. Hope you can give me a hint.
@@DSoundman wow that was a fast answer, thank you. The pads and faders also don’t Drive the daw. Pressing pads gives i.e. a key sound. All this is very difficult for me as a beginner at daw use. 🤔 Your Videos are providing great help. 👍🏻
Got the 49 Pro. Got Daw control to work..thanks for the help..but cannot get any of the pads to trigger actions in Reaper. Even though the software says theres a midi CC on it..A midi monitor program says nothing being sent.
Hey James! I don't have experience with Reaper, but the only thing I can think of is that possibly Reaper is expecting the communications to come on a different MIDI channel? I plan on downloading Reaper at some point and giving it a run through...I'll let you know if I'm able to figure anything out.

My Pro61 should arrive tomorrow. I'm more of a simpleton with these controllers. I don't like anything pre-mapped. Hoping I can just use some kind of generic mode where I can make the assignments I want, otherwise it's just a keyboard. I'm weird like that. 😂
I cant get this to work with Studio One no matter what I do. Any ideas. In DAW mode the Oxygen sends a midi clock but Studio One wont allow to sync to incoming midi clock. I have tried all the HUI options as well. Transport buttons on the Oxygen do nothing.

I have just bought an M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini from a reseller here in the UK. I tried to follow your instructions / advice and the information put out by M-Audio but the installation is a complete nightmare!!!!! My DAW (whatever that means!!) is Cubase and my platform is the iMAC with the most up to date o/s. I was able to update the firmware in th unit and download and install the Software Manager. However, when I tried to set-up the unit to run with my Cubase the instructions shown on the M-Audio site bear no resemblance to what is showing on my MAC's screen the net result of which is that whilst the "piano" keys on th unit will activate the notes when I call up Halion Sonic SE on a new track, none of the other function keys or pads work as controllers to the software. I also had installed the Hybrid 3, Mini Grand and Velvet apps but could not find any way to get the activation keys and when I started Cubase I got error messages for each application that said they could not be loaded into Cubase as they are 32 bit. Really, really fed up and frustrated by this experience and, when I try to contact M-Audio Support I get the message that my log-in is invalid despite the fact I had been through the registration and carried out the earlier download and installation. Not at all happy or impressed.
It technically comes with 7, but 4 of them are included with the Pro Tools First license/download. Only the Hybrid 3, Mini Grand, Velvet have stand-alone installers.
Normally the activation code is the same as the one in your M-Audio account, but with Avid discontinuing pro tools first edition, I’ve heard rumors that these are now trial versions. I’m doing a little digging to try to find out and I’ll update once I get more info!
I'm assuming the midi capabilities will work fine, but there's no DAW preset built in. You might need to build a custom preset to get the transport controls to work.
I just picked up a 49-key model the other day, and I have yet to get it to work in any DAW, particularly Reaper. After I hit the encoder after selecting WIN, an option pops up to save it. I select "Replace" and hit the encoder, but it just toggles back and forth between that option and "No" directly under it, and if I back out, it doesn't seem as if anything I did took effect, because none of the controls work. I just updated myself to the latest firmware, so there's gotta be something I'm doing wrong.

I have installed Ableton Live Lite and I manage to create some music with the keyboard but I don't manage to do it with the pads. I have MPC beats, and I'd like to use the sounds called "Basic", but when MPC beats opens from Ableton, I only have an empty template, and I don't know how to play and to record it for Ableton. I connected it with midi cable to my laptop and went to InMusic page from m audio main page to create an account as you said, after that I registered the midi seccessfully with it's serial No... but when I tried to dwonload the related softwares it didn't get me any where but a page says Forbbiden Error 403. Hey Tom! Are you using Pro Tools First edition? If so, First edition doesn’t support the use of DAW controls and therefore won’t have the peripherals menu.
Mine was working for a little bit but now the keyboard won’t work keeps popping up with a tho I followed this step by step looked for more answers online but it was useless I just got this today and am already thinking about turning it in for a cheaper and better alternative

I have this same model...I cannot get the daw to control my knobs.. I am using the PT daw preset even though I only have the protools 1 m audio version. And I cannot see my internal output “phones” on pro tools which is my line out to speakers. The controller is visible on a midi track, I just cannot hear it through playback. In GarageBand the daw works fine with the controls and I can hear through my speakers via the MacBook Pro phones jack???? Can you help? Cheers

Control Drivers (Midi3) do not send CC or Note messages. DAW mode uses only midi 3 apparently

When use with GRAND only, no problem. If I try to use in cubase 13, some of the lower notes didn't respond. I tried several things

Hi, sorry to bother but I've been watching your videos and I'm still struggling to make my new Oxygen Pro 49 work... I have installed Ableton Live Lite and I manage to create some music with the keyboard but I don't manage to do it with the pads. I have MPC beats, and I'd like to use the sounds called "Basic", but when MPC beats opens from Ableton, I only have an empty template, and I don't know how to play and to record it for Ableton. I just want to do live looping, can you help? Thanks Xxx
How I can keep the channel, note and color settings on pads? It does factory reset for them every time I restart my computer.

Hi there.. I bought m audio oxygen 61 recently.. I connected it with midi cable to my laptop and went to InMusic page from m audio main page to create an account as you said, after that I registered the midi seccessfully with it's serial No... but when I tried to dwonload the related softwares it didn't get me any where but a page says Forbbiden Error 403. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, how do I activate Ableton "skin" buttons, such as "Stop", "Rec", on my Oxygen Pro Mini controller? It has these buttons but they look dead in Ableton.
Any suggestions if "Peripherals" aren't there under "Setup" ?? Please help!
Hey Tom! Are you using Pro Tools First edition? If so, First edition doesn’t support the use of DAW controls and therefore won’t have the peripherals menu.
Mine was working for a little bit but now the keyboard won’t work keeps popping up with a tho I followed this step by step looked for more answers online but it was useless I just got this today and am already thinking about turning it in for a cheaper and better alternative

Hi, great video for the first set up, but since the PRO TOOLS Discontinued with M-Audio, can you do some basic videos how to start producing, recording etc. with Ableton please? :) I am complete beginer with the M-Audio Pro and just to see how to effectively use all feauters of the midikeyboard.

I have this same model...I cannot get the daw to control my knobs.. I am using the PT daw preset even though I only have the protools 1 m audio version. And I cannot see my internal output “phones” on pro tools which is my line out to speakers. The controller is visible on a midi track, I just cannot hear it through playback. In GarageBand the daw works fine with the controls and I can hear through my speakers via the MacBook Pro phones jack???? Can you help? Cheers
Yo you should make some presets to do specific things for like mixing and integrating certain plug ins...
