Lewis Noble has lived and worked in Derbyshire since 1996. His focus lies in the physical and emotional impact of the landscape on the senses and the effect this experience has on us.
His paintings are not snapshots or photographic frozen moments but through repeated layering and eroding of the painted surface, they contain all of the time it takes to make them.
The result is a body of work that speaks to the heart of what it means to be part of the environment.
I really like where this is going and I'm looking forward to following along. At the moment it's giving me some Anselm Kiefer vibes and it will be really intersting to see where you take this. Thanks Lewis
I love the choices you’ve made so far!
And I love it hanging down like that ❤
I love the way the canvas drapes and the uneven edges. Maybe the rusty marks will react in an interesting fashion with the primer and paint... looking forward to how this progresses!
Please don’t cover up that rust!! It’s gorgeous. Good luck and have so much fun!
It looks like at the top where the eyelets are is a channel no dissimilar to one where you can run a rod through. I put such channels on my textiles to hang them….I make quilts by hand and the get hung onto walls. My thought was to have a wider channel, wide enough to run a flat 3 inch wide but THINNER board thru it to facilitate hanging it on your stone wall
I love the stains so much, I'd probably use a clear gesso in order to keep it
Look forward to seeing how it progresses
What have you decided to seal it with?
Can’t wait to see the next stage
I can’t wait to see what you do with it!
