This channel is like working with a top tradesman and a college lecturer at the same time. The mix of real life situations and the detailed explanations in a classroom setting is the perfect aid enroute to the ACS exams. Please keep up the good work Derek! Just a thought a video on your full toolkit would benefit. I'm going to try get a few tools every week in preperation.
Makes you wonder what a £20 lgsr entails... Step 1, light the appliance Step 2, run for the exit? Great job showing everyone how it should be done Derek 👍
I did my fires and cookers a month ago after a year of passed my ACS Exam and registered with Gas safe. Your videos help a lot. I still enjoying watching your channel 👍
Amazing video, enjoyed watching the video on how to carry out landlord checks, very useful for us trainees, once again excellent tutoring and well explained by yourself Derek. 👍👍😁
It’s great to see a gas safety check carried out correctly and the time it takes, how some “gas engineers” can charge as low as £35 for this service baffles me.
Brilliant video Tomkat. Ive been doing Gas works for the passed 14 years. People don't realise how much work there is on a landlords report, what is the going charge for a report lile this one your doing with 3 appliances. I would want at least £150 there is alot of work to do the tests thoroughly. What's your opinion.? Thanks Josh
It’s the letting agents that are the pain. They take most of the money for no work and pay the engineers very little. In our area a few letting agents won’t landlords reports for £35 for all appliances including fires they say we would make the extra time up when there is only a boiler.
So i only have CCN1 and CENWAT, I install boilers in council property’s but I also am required to fill out a CP12 but my question is can I legally fill out the CP12 if there is a gas cooker or hob in the property for example just do a visual inspection on the tenants cooker/hob or am I required to do CKR1? Because when I did my ACS I still had to cover the theory and practical on cookers and fires but because I didn’t have evidence in my portfolio for these appliances I couldn’t sit them even though in reality I did sit them?
Thanks for the reply, problem is I have already filled quite a few out, the company I work for must not have know that, how long after passing can I go sit CKR1 without portfolio evidence?
Fantastic video. Everything covered and well explained. On the report, the section ‘Operating pressure in mbar or heat input in kW/h’ you filled it in with 6.39kW. Was this the gas rating figure? Looking forward to watching part 2. Really enjoyed it. Thanks Derek. 👍🏻 Asian Jon. Training.
Good video as usual. I am gas safe registered, but still helps when I get myself refreshed when watching your videos, because they are so in deals. Thanks for the great videos.
Hi Derek if you went to carry out gas cert and you seen something that was going to be AR would you still check then issue AR warning or not carry out check untill it's sorted out
Peter sutton you fill in a warning notice and stick on the label and make the appliance safe then record it on the landlords report as you wouldn’t get paid for sorting the problem without the landlords permission. You have to follow the GIUSP if you find AR or ID appliances
Great insight and really helpful to revise what has previously been learnt before to test our knowledge, thanks TK!! #staystrongcovid19stowstradeshop 🇬🇧🇮🇪🇫🇷🇧🇧🇯🇲🇻🇨🇿🇦🇲🇺🇺🇸🇨🇦🇦🇺
I went to school in Watford when I was 57 years old...I won't sugar coat it. It's not smooth or a straight line. But with the right training and qualifications you'll be alright 👍
I am glad you released this video. It shows that you can’t do a full LGSR in 20 minutes like we too often see. Top work pal 👍

What tape did you use to protect the pipe of the fire?
Garlic just electrical tape as it is heat proof and the glue will not effect the copper pipe
Thanks Derek amazing video 😍
Good insight to cp12 derek many thanks
Just out of interest how much do you guys charge for this check. (London prices would be misleading)
Great videos 👍 will you be covering any commercial gas? Or the change over course to commercial? Thanks

Quick question, do you have to purge because you disconnected the gas to the fire? Thanks
Yes you do if you let all the gas out of the pipe you will need to purge
