The tie breakers (different for castles and towns) are not intuitive. For a light area majority game like this, that is supposed to be very accessible, that fiddlyness is a major cons to me.
Thanks for the review! Wondering if it is worth upgrading to the KS version for the thicker tiles, or if it does make much of a difference in terms of durability and comfort. Any thoughts based on your experience? Thank you 🙏
@Alex: Did you check out the Ireland map that's gonna be printed on the flip side? Allegedly it's more meaty and complex, and the Scotland is meant to be the introductory map and Ireland being the "real" thing with its own separate components and stuff
Hi Alex, hope you are well. I am happy you reviewed this. I feel like your reviews are honest while I find many others to lean excessively positive for all KS promos. Especially for this game, everyone seems to be trying too hard to hype such a simple, basic game. My concerns are - seems like certain areas will end up being targeted early in every game leading to poor replayability. - no solo mode is a real negative - looks kind of boring and repetitive - pick one tile, place one tile. - I would love to see even a partial playthrough of Ireland but no one has one (or even a review of it or a written review) - at $61 (49 + 12 shipping) it doesn't seem to be better than waiting to get it retail after seeing more unbiased reviews and possibly playing myself. - the only KS exclusives over retail seem to be bags...🤷🏽♂️ Am I off base on any of these? Thank you again for another honest, informative, yet concise, review!
@distortedsteeve2980 Are you talking about Alex? My comments are not just based on his review. I have watched quite a few. They all seem to be mostly positive, but they are also all paid promotions. My comments are my gut feelings from my gaming experience after evaluating playthroughs. I am wondering whether I am missing something about the gameplay.
The game looks interesting but dang the price of these RK games needs to come WAY down. I want Yellow and Yangtze but for $120. I want to try this game but not for $62. Need to get them down in the $30 range with cheap components so more people can try them.
Do you see this having a place in collection with limited space, that also has Ticket to ride: Europe in it? I can see several similarities with it. Certain tiles that can only go on certain spaces, having long roads/lines, secret objectives and so on.
I was intrigued but seems like another decent enough game but not a great game. I will most probably pass on this one waiting in case the retail version
I think it would be better to do a review once you have access to the other board as it makes the game more interactive and has more interesting stuff.
I love Cascadero but i won't be backing this one. The tracks and decision making in Cascadero seem more suited for my style.

i second this, the ireland map is supposed to be more competitve and adds a few more mechanics, it could take it to an 4/5

This dude is super biased against kickstarter.. he works for the competitor, Gamefound.

Thanks for the review. What would you rather play between Rebirth, Cascadero, and Through the Desert?
oooh....all are similar but possibly Cascadero...although it might literally just depend on the day
was anticipating your review on this. thank you, alex. :)

Sure, but in the meantime that's not available
Shalom hope you are doing good 😊 hopefully you come gencon this year
Blows my mind he can keep pumping games out like this and people keep buying them. Not my idea of fun at all.
it's a matter of taste. You probably buy a lot of games that I consider garbage or bad games.
Luckily @bobby you don't have a RUclips channel. It probably wouldn't be fun at all.
