$50 FOOD CHALLENGE in Largest Open Air Mall | [Honolulu, Hawaii] Local Plates, Dim Sum, Food Court!
• $50 FOOD CHALLENGE in ...
thanks for always supporting the local businesses. great to hear about the pop-ups!
Especially in the mall with those high rent, we gotta support local as much as we can🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Hey Foodie Ohana! Even though it’s tough to keep it under $50, we have learned that sharing is caring and SAVING. If you don’t mind sharing your food, it tends to go a longer way. When everyone gets their own plate or meal, it usually is more expensive and doesn’t all get eaten (leftovers). 🤙🏽❤️🫂🌴 love the episode as always! Have a great week Foodie Ohana.
We love supporting local spots especially in the mall where rent is super high! Mahalo Armando for sure gonna be sharing more food🤤🤙🏻
Foodie Ohana great choices ! You guys did it !!! Mahalo for sharing !
Mahalo Gail🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I miss the Hawaii Life. I used to lived in Hawaii specifically Aiea from 2002 to 2009. Last 2 years, I worked at Starbucks Sears Ala Moana and Hallmark Ala Moana. Love eating at the food court.
😅 dannnggg Felix, you almost made it through da whole video without getting into trouble 😂😊😆🙂😀😃😁😎👋🤞✌️👌🤙👍☝️👏🙏.
Hey yeah, where's Da Vonne????😊
Well need a bigger budget to include Da Vons next time!🤤🤙🏻
I vote for a $100 local seafood challenge!
What a great challenge! Mahalo for the rec 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Oh that takes a lot of self control not to buy extras😂 love this...
Alex and Felix other than your personalities I think your biggest strength is in your description of whatever you're eating. Thanks for supporting local.
Mahalo for the support as well! 🤙
I enjoyed the challenges…
Glad you enjoyed it! Much mahalo ❤️🤙🏻
Aloha Amanda and Felix. I also love Aja Bento garlic chicken. Mahalo for all the videos!
Another GREAT video!
I love the pop-up shops at Norstrom, my favorite Mochi Shop, Bake You A Smile is there once a month.
Definitely love this kind of content. Yes please do more of these. Love you guys ❤
Great job guys! Yes I love to see this kind of content. Thank you!
Hi to you both! Wonderfully fun and interesting... good job on your choice of foods and desserts. You always make us smile 😃 keep up the good work!
Mahalo Diana! 🤙
I miss the open air Ala Moana open mall with the stream and koi fish. The Ward Warehouse, too. 😢
Soooo nostalgic 😭
no more Ward Warehouse anymore
Hi guys! Great vid, I always get siu-mai, it is a must! As for Aja, I love their bento’s as well, the food court is always packed when I go there!
Garlic chicken is always one of my favorites with extra sauce!
Mahalo! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Mahalo Craig! 🤙
Hi Amanda & Felix...Love the video. That was a nice challenge. Look forward to more of those. YYK Dim sum, I have been there 3 times since they opened. It is so convenient to get Dim sum on a take-out order, pick & choose, on the run basis versus having to sit down in a restaurant and order and wait to be served. Love the new concept. When Felix went into the food-court I just knew he was going to AJA. How can you not eat that garlic chicken and mac salad LOL! I heard about that pop up at Nordstrom. That was a great choice for a dessert segment. All on budget, well that is happy eats.
We managed to get our money's worth! We were actually full! 🤤 oomai is a must try if you ever crave macarons 👍 Mahalo Rick! 🤙
wow, everything looked really good, and bonus for being local spots. What a fun video, staying on a budget :)
Mahalo! 🤙
I would like you to go the Seed Show and get a lot of Ling Hing Mui. I love your shows
I didn't know they had that dim sum place at the Food Court! I gotta try it out. Everything you ate looked delicious, though! Thanks for another fun episode!
Best seafood in your are? Keep up the great vids
Mahalo for the rec 🤙🏻🤤 seafood sounds awesome!
My go to places now are The Poi Bowl and Aja. Formerly was Poi Bowl and Patti's Chinese Kitchen and its immediate successor. Panda Express and the rest of chains similar to this are simply wretched.
I was disappointed when one of my favorite places (despite the long wait) at the Lānai, Da Spot, closed a while ago, but itʻs good to see the YKK Dim Sum in its place. I would have ordered the same things Felix got -- the char siu bao and siu mai, as well as the garlic chicken, mac salad, and taegu at Aja Bento. Guess we have the same taste. I love grilled cheese sandwiches but have never eaten at Honolulu Bistro, even when they were at the ol;d Ohana Hale Marketplace, but now I know what I should try there. I also love macrons, but Iʻd have to track down Oomai (Is the way Felix pronounced it correct?) to get a taste. Everything has gone up about 20% (or more) in the last two years, so if you can eat three "courses" for lunch for two for under $50, I guess thatʻs good, but minimum wage is still only $12. And you had to forgo the usual expensive drinks. Just imagine what families have to do when they eat out. Mahalo for sharing this new variation of "Cheap Eats."
Mahalo Jody! We love supporting local spots especially in the mall where rent is super high and of course want to encourage others to do the same! $50 for us to was actually a lot, we ended up taking home leftovers and eating it for dinner later 🤙🏻🤤
Still open at the og location on king st.
You guys did good with $50 I like to see these kind of challenges plus you guys are too funny can't wait to see more fun contents😊
More challenges coming up! 🤙
Aloha 🌺🥰
You guys did pretty good for 50 dollars. 🎉
Mahalo Larry🤙🏻
That grilled cheese looked AMAZING!
🤤
Thanks for the heads up on Oomai! Just placed my online order! Viet coffee all the way!!! Keep up the great work!
We hope you enjoy it! 🤙
Try the the Palama Supermarket on Makaloa.
The BBQ chicken plate is Ono in their mini food court.
Can’t wait to get there
Mark from Vancouver
Sounds good! 🤙
Hey Guys. Fun video. How about an all-day challenge like $100 total for breakfast, lunch and dinner between both of you? Gives you an opportunity to be creative since I know eating out can be really expensive, especially in Oahu. LOL when you blurred out the random person who talked to Felix.
The macarons looks super good!
A must try if you like macarons! The viet coffee is our favorite! 🤤
Thanks for the tip on Yung Yee Kee having a stall at the Lanai Food Court! I’ve eaten at their main restaurant and loved their dim sum.
Great to know they have a quick grab-and-go option available too.
Keep up the great work. My list of eateries to try gets longer and longer thanks to you 👍
Good choices, but dang the. char siu bao was kinda expensive!
It’s well worth it! One of our faves🤤🤙🏻
Aloha guys! The good looks deelish, That grilled cheese sandwich looked so good, let’s face it you can’t go wrong with those 😻Mahalo 👋🏼🌺
Crowd favorites for sure! 🤤
Below the Nordstrom is the Foodland, which has the best poke bowls in town!
Foodland is great!
I gotta to try Aja bento!
Try the roast beef too! 👍🤙
How about a $50 challenge at the KCC farmers market?!?
Sounds like a good idea! 🤙
Hi Amanda do you see Indonesia food there in honolulu ?
Family comes first. I hope things get settled for all. >^.^
Do you both really like all the foods you try? Are you giving an honest review?
Taste is subjective but we try to describe it the best we can 👍
Great job! How fun! When u said $50 ( in Hawaii) , I thought for sure no way! But u guys did it! Looked like it was enough food too! I think the macarons place is pronounced umai , like “ tastes good” in Japanese? Amanda can correct me. It could b pronounced hawaiian style too… but who cares, that coffee flavor one looked amazing! I definitely need to hit that dim sum shop I didn’t know about this. I do like the concept of grab n go. Great job to both of you! Oh and you both r looking amazing! Keep up whatever u r doing! This was fun! Mahalo!💕👍🏿😀
Not sure on the exact pronunciation but the macarons were delicious! Definitely try yung Yee kee if you can! One of our favorite dim sum 👍🤙
The food prices seem very expensive!
Hawaii prices 🫣
I’m sure you guys know this already, but har gow ≠ siu mai. 😊
Oops they did type it wrong but they are forgiven. Restaurant labeled it wrong too! 😊
Yes, we typed it out as har gow so that people knew what we were talking about in reference to the price.
I think Felix is thinking $50 at each place.😂
And that camera woman sure takes too big a bite.😁
YYK has a sweet crust on top, just like at Tim Ho Wan.
Siu mai and har gow are different.
Macarons have unique flavors.
Nice choices. $50 went a long way. Can you do one for the best poke bowl? I know Foodland, but what other places. Thanx
We have plenty of videos featuring poke bowls 👍 check out our other play lists! 🤙
1:26 Sept Oct 3 2023, Hello from Gilbert Arizona USA. Hey Felix and Amanda. Well I've never been to the islands. But it's awesome that you're supporting local businesses. So when I get to go, I know where to go. Great job. Awesome video. Healthy Blessings to you both and have a great day 🎉 9:23
Mahalo for watching and supporting! 🤙
LOVED this episode! The macarons looked so ono. Have to admit, prob wld have blown the budget at the 1st stop. I ❤ dim sum!! You two look GREAT (but u always did😊). Mahalo for making me hungry....again😂
Mahalo always Barbara! 🙏🤙

Mahalo! 🤙

You guys should do a 2 day challenge (weekend maybe?) and you both have the same budget and create a day plan for breakfast/lunch/dinner and see who had the better set of meals. Have a strawpoll to see who did it better based on your viewers voting.
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
👌🤤
Amanda, you have lost a lot of weight! Great job!!
Oh, I love this! Honolulu is overpriced so it's nice to see what you can do with $50! I'd say the prices are comparable to LA or Southern CA. What we think is cheap, is expensive to other States, haha.
Way too much single-use plastic waste from the dim sum and bento places! Poor earth, poor sealife.
don't worry--trash goes to the hplant to provide more energy for the island!
also many places are using eco-friendly biodegradable single use plates and utensils. not as much plastic as before!
@@kimcheelove Yes, they have to by law.
Aloha 🌺🥰
