The decor in your kitchen makes me think of meatloaf. It makes me feel at home.
Ron from Saskatchewan in Canada, well I hit the jackpot, my wife uses a filleting knife like a skilled surgeon, she can fillet and debone with best of them. ( I don't hold even close to her learned expertise). Anyway, come up into Northern Saskatchewan, get some jackfish, pickerel or lake trout, you can be a guest in our camp. We will do up a feast of fish, and I personally defy you, me or anyone eating fish done up by my wife, to find even one bone in any of the fish you are eating. Thanks for video, put me thinking about fishing, only thing is this time of the year is through the ice.
A few years ago, I was given a recipe by someone that called it Poor Man's Lobster, but they only said to use sugar. I didn't think it sounded that great, but we tried it. It was vile, and we went out for Chinese that night. So when I saw this recipe, I reluctantly decided to give it another try, despite the sugar, and the entire family loved it.
We love this recipe...thank you so much for sharing it with us! Jake and Pam
Thanks for this, bro. I love fishing for pike and you have given me another reason to love it even more. Looking forward to more of these homespun videos.
Sounds really good.. Going to try this tonight! Thanks!
It looks real good.
Wow it’s taste really good
I tried it today on a nice 30" michigan pike it was great. very simple and easy clean up. thanks!
Right on, if everyone knew how good pike were there would't be any left :)
thank you! been looking for a good pike recipe! gonna try this :-)
I tried it and it was the best pike I have ever had
Wow!!! This tastes great! I am just getting into preparing fish and this is great. I let the rest of my family taste it and now I'm going to be making dinner.
hey thanks for the reminder!! gonna make it myself tonight!
It's almost like you're brining it and cooking it in the same step which is a really cool idea. I travel to Lake Texoma every couple years and fish for a hybrid fish called a striper which is a mix between a wiper and a bass. They are an extremely delicate to the palate Whitefish and this would work great with them. I live in Colorado so most of the meat that I consume is Elk deer in pronghorn antelope
Looks delicious bro
Awesome recipe! Simple too. Love all your videos... keep it up bro.
A-1 !! Going Pike hunting tomorrow. Got to try this!
Pikeman50 Thannks pal it was some amazing time spent on the ice!
My fiance caught a northetn yesterdsy. I have never ate or cooked northern. Only pickled, which was awesome. Still looking for a good recipe to pickle it. I just made this boiled recipe and We both loved it.

Seth from Minnesota, Caught a Pike last weekend and was looking for a healthier way to cook. Really appreciate your video, it was clean and simple. Thanks Much
you're welcome pal!
We have chain pickerel down here we call them Jackfish. Most don't eat it. A huge one would be 3 pounds. I eat them, whitest meat I've ever seen and very tasty. That looks great!
We usually throw the pickerel back......will have to try some!
Back in the day we used to go visit my grandpa in upstate ny. He would take us to lake Lingham in Canada. We would anchor for lunch on the shore, take the biggest northern caught, and wrap it in foil with butter and lemons. Cooked right on the coals! Grandpa and dad really planted the seed!
Thats how we cook the big ones in ADK camp!
I tried it and like it.
Looks very god. Thanks and o tried whit next pike i get
Really good and simple. Dont take long either. Garlic butter puts on the finishing touch

Making it right now. We live on a tiny river and my daughter bought me tip ups for Xmas so I was trying them out. Caught 3 jacks (northern pikes) in about and hour fishing from my living room.
Thats awesome im jealous
Gonna try this on my next eating-sized pike!
Nice t-shirt,)
Hey Scotty----love eating pike. I haven't figured out the cleaning part yet.
Good job.
Me-gwetch
Kirk McCutcheon Thanks Kirk! It took some practice and a few you tube videos but you will get the hang of it.
Gonna try this, thanks.
Your mother would truly be proud.... lol
Oh, wow.... someone is jealous they did not come up with this idea... LOL
I fry 90% of my fish. Absolutely love fried pike. Also, grill them with crab meat and they turn out supreme.
Great video , great recipe . We've done this with catfish.
I pan fry northern , with a dusting of flour or tempura I use lawyers season salt and butter.
I also make the usual pickled fish with it awesome . As well as northern Pike clam chowder , and bouillabase. Both awesome! I call northern Pike the chicken of the lake. So many ways to use it !it is very versatile and being easy to catch a great food source.
When I clean them I always just fillet and potion. The tails I zip. No bones in the tail. I never worry about Y bones , nor do I cut them out when cleaning the fish , too much waste . I remove them AFTER cooking a very simple process. I also soak the fish in cold water for a day at least changing it a few times. It helps pull any impurities out. Just an option
Cool videos man... I've would like to go up to Wisconsin and try ice fishing... Looks like fun... And I love eating fish... RUclips is great to find out how to do things you're unsure of... Hey are ya gonna tell us what's in your other season bowl...!!!
It was just some butter I believe. Thanks for watching =)
I am going to give that a try. Thanks! I saw your catfish video and wanted to know if you could someday make a video on cooking and or smoking catfish. Thanks!
Trapper234 I will do one soon on cooking!
Pike is great.
Pike is the best, isn't it? Right up there with crappie, walleye and perch. We remove the y-bones when we fillet them. Save the strips with y-bones and pickle those or use for fish stock. We fry or broil the fillets. I miss my grandma's fish/white gravy. Good stuff.
Your method is also a popular way to cook crab legs. Thought you might wanna know. I'm gonna try this, the next time I go fishing.
Hey pal! I love this video thanks for the recipe. I live on Lake Erie just east of Monroe and we catch three to 4 lb Pike one after another but we have tried to smoke them and it turned out horrible! I guess from my buddies they call it the poor man's Lobster I'm definitely going to try this way thanks for the video
My buddy smoked pike and it was awesome, the best smoked fish that I ever tried.
Someone gave me some big Northerns from Rainy Lake. I will try this and let you know.
When Pike season re-opens in about a month, I'm going to try that. Even fried, Pike is as good, or better, than Walleye. I think the key to this is: 1) Catch them in COLD water, 2) Clean them while they are still alive, 3) Don't let any of the exterior slime get on the meat, 4) Take the Y bones out.
Dick Hanks spice and tea.com coastal blend seasoning add a bit of salt maybe a bit of dill.... egg wash season and panko best shit you ever had
I almost like Northern better than Walleye. They are a little more work to clean, but well worth it. In just a few short weeks down my way, they will be moving up into feeder creeks and sloughs to spawn....which makes them pretty easy pickings. I also like to pickle them, something I learned as a kid from my grandma:-)
StormLaker1975 Yes they are very tasty I love them. My brother pickles some for me often they taste amazing this way. thanks for watching Laker
That looked really good! Kinda gave it the lobster treatment there with the clarified butter. I can see how that would work. I may have to try that with some of the local fish. Take care Scotty!
Thanks todd it tastes amazing!

Use Zatarain's like for shrimp. Then dip in butter, pretend they are shrimp. I get it. But, since I live in Mobile, Alabama, no pike!
"and the next day I'm not feelin' too good" you me same.
It's hard to stop when it's delicious and you've caught & cooked it yourself
Seasoning salt or heaps of good cajun really saves these fish. Can be great, my nephews loved em done up similar to this
👍
I like pike . What or how does the sugar do for the taste?
It add a tiny bit of sweetness to the meat. Nothing to strong though really adds to the flavor

Wonder if you just cooked it in the butter with seasonings
john lisek That could work but you would need a lot of butter to cover most of the meat. I might have to try it sometime. thanks for watching
I cook shrimp like that they come out great

Hi and you did this with out removing the Y bones?

What you can’t see are his bell bottom blue jeans, worn to compliment the avocado stove and the circa 1972 wallpaper.
RJ Fisher The apartment has been renovated since this video lol
I want that shirt
most cooking material vedio almost would have a high score for the viewer
No lemon juice?
Why the sugar, on fish?
IF YOU WOULD HAVE POURED CHOCOLATE OVER IT WITH ALL THAT SUGAR AND SALT YOU COULD HAVE MADE A BUTTERFINGER CANDY BAR. LOL
why do you not feel too good the next day? does pike make you feel sick if you eat it in excess?
I've never got sick from eating pike...
Christian Plouffe n
HoboJIm117 probably from all the butter. lol so good though
poisoned by all the salt
...everyone: "Pike taste too fishy"....... Me: *Sssmaaack* "it's fish!!" ... lulz
Ok recipe but we Finns use never sugar cause we do not like it because of sweetness.
I wouldn't put sugar on it...
Absolutely necessary is this recipe.
update that kitchen son! Pea green counter tops and appliances! WTF. And that hideous back splash
vikings844 rented apartment pal. Good news is it has been remodeled totally a month ago by the owners
330 MaNiaC Sweet!
Over cooked. As soon as the water starts to boil after adding the fish, it's done.
Noo..... if you wanna get worms then yes lol
@@330Maniac 165 degrees internal temp kills parasites. Boiling for 3-5 minutes just raises the internal temp of those small chunks to 200-210 degrees, over cooking and ruining the texture of the pike.
