Given the master you are when working with leather, I suspect you continue to solve problems daily. Solving those problems is the trait of a true master.
I've watched alot of leather making videos over the years on my journey to leather crafting, and you along with a few others, I watch actually make a video, tutorial, and provide a template so others can make their own. You're the real deal! Marketing, design, etc. There is only one dieselpunk and your skills are exceptional. Much thanks for your work and sharing with the world.
Thank you,
Caleb Bell
Wow, thank you!
Going to work on two more of these next week. I decided to watch the tutorial again to brush up as it's been a year since I made the last one. Reading comments it amazes me how folks judge according to their own taste. To those that may be unaware, among the leather making community, Tony is a legend. His designs are always top notch, the patterns when you follow the instructions work every time with great results. That folks complain about the length of the video (there is a fast forward feature here) or the music (so? it's not your taste, big deal. Didn't know there was a set musical format that must be adhered to to please you or that that was the goal...pleasing you specifically). Some people's arrogance is astounding. Be glad you didn't have to figure all this out on your own.
My shops a wreck, but I finally finished my bag! Word of advice to all potential makers out there; buy all the hardware before you start construction! This bag is the perfect size and the instructions are easy to follow and it was actually an easy project that looks amazing. Can’t say enough good things about Tony and his patterns. Thanks for sending me the last pdf to finish it off. I’m ready for my next project!!!!
Joseph Donk I couldn’t agree more. Tony comes up with the best things
Hi internet stranger, would you be interested in a paid commission to do another build of this bag (x2)?
I will be making this soon
A pair of those would make the coolest, and possibly the most functional motorcycle saddlebags ever.
That's part of the beauty of leather, what ever you make, it will never look lame...
Exactly
@@fransjoe unless you are really bad😔

Tony you are the greatest, I finally made this bag and changed the straps so I can slide it over to back bar on my motorcycle. Already have all my friends asking if I can make them one, I told them watch the channel and subscribe its definitely worth it and will make them appreciate the bag even more. Can't thank you enough for the videos
That's funny, that's exactly what I planned to do
I'm making a rucksack at the moment and this has been very helpful. I'm not using a template but have made my own pattern. My issue was, when sewing the pocket to the side , it was twisting and I think I may know now why this is, thanks for a great video. Your craft and clips are very professional.
Such a beautiful bag. Your artistry is so unique. I have purchased many of your patterns and will definitely be getting this one as well. Love your channel and this new format.
Very gifted craftsman, beautiful work, I can tell the way you handle the leather and your tools you have significant skills. Great tutorial, Thank you
Beautiful workmanship. The music fits. Love the commentary. Thanks for the tip on adding a buckle to shorten the strap
You have my respect, Sir. Wonderful work.
Ok so, if this guy isn't the best thing I have seen on RUclips in a very long time I don't know what is. I can't get enough somebody out there offer this guy his own tv leather work show ...........Oh! what a minute he has already done that :)
Awesome! Just awesome! my next project but the larger size for me! My brother wants one too!! Dude your work is amazing! Love your videos!
I've never had or wanted to have that bag and now I'd like to make it. Thanks for posting your video.👍👁
I've always wanted a leather backpack. That's a beautiful piece of work.
Awesome Backpack Build. Lovely ❤❤ and Great Tutorial, Thanks.
The larger one holds a big 15inch laptop beautifully!!
I would love to use this as first aid bag for my shop... Your so talented and inspiring... Thank you for all the hard work you show everyone
Bought this pattern, looking forward to the challenge of making this for my best friend’s wedding present! Don’t tell him, it’ll be our little secret.
I'm just starting my 5 pocket explore bag. Hope the final product turns out good. Still a beginner with leathercraft.
Dam, I love this page! From the music to the exceptional teaching!
I love your videos - you give me and others inspiration. The backpack series was awesome. Quick question - what size needles do you use? They look longer and thinner. Thanks so much!
Thank you for your videos and help Tony!
Love your channel. I have ordered pattern and will be making the large explorer bag. I am curious where did you get the whiteboard used under leather when punching holes?
48:00 for cross-body strap
A reminder for myself
I Just wanted to know, how many square feet of leather is needed to make the bag featured In his video. So that is can buy the leather to make it?
I just finished making the Small 3 Pocket Explorer Backpack/Messenger Bag. I made backpack straps and the crossbody strap. Multi-colored, English Bridle, veg-tan, and chrome tan leathers. Black and Copper hardware throughout. It's the most intricate piece I've ever made. Now, what to do with it....
Hello, I would like some patterns for a 70 liter backpack, that has comfortable handles, it wouldn't matter if it was made of tube so as not to sew so much, an 80 cm tube (that can fit a bow saw and a 75 cm ax for when I go to the forest to make a shelter and when I go down the street no one sees what I put in the car) it would be great, with its pockets and a mushroom on top (mushroom in Spain is what we call the top part of the backpack that opens and It has many pockets) thank you regards
i'm leathercrafter pro for 25 years now, and i really appreciate the quality of your work. just an advice, remove this non-necessary crap music, no one need it. :)
What type of leather did you use in this? Is it veg-tan that you dyed yourself? Or is it a pre-dyed store-bought hide? I've ben using pre-dyed for mine and noticed it's resistant to the wet-forming which I hadn't considered when buying. Thanks for the wonderful video all the same niteKore :)
Video says 5 - 7 oz leather. Pattern assembly instructions say 7 - 8 oz. Thoughts on which to go with?
choose the 6-7oz, 7oz plus is very hard to work with
I love the bag😍
I would like to make one in Pink. Does the hardware come in platinum or silver? I am waiting to finalize My order on your website. TIA.
Tell me please. Where do you buy leather and what is the thickness ?
Are you considering doing a kit of hardware parts for this backpack? And, just out of interest, why did you change to a diamond punch for the holes around the pocket zipper? And why do you seem to prefer round holes everywhere else over diamond punched holes? Do the needles go through the round holes easier?
Cannot wait to make one of these for use with my new 125cc Monkey bike! Not exactly steampunk, but what the heck!
Wish I could get away with using an “Aviator” helmet, but those days are gone!
i will do a complete pack, yes. Diamond punch makes attaching zipper much easier. round punch makes stitching leather easy
I will keep an eye out for it in your shop!
What size thread?
@@izzaqelanaqimohammadhafiza2610 He mentions 1mm waxed thread
I think you do good work. I've done a couple of your bag patterns and have found them easy to follow and complete. I just wonder though. Why don't you use any glue at all?
Holy shit!! I have a similar design for a backpack! I based it off World of Warcraft bags. 3 different sizes. It’s a little different than this but WICKED close!
Would you bevel the edges on this bag or any other similar bags?
i really like thisa bag watched this video a few times before ultimately purchasing the design, but im having a hard time figuring out which peice is which because in your video your peices are numbered differntly, the design has some small descirption but ive found several pockets that say theyre front pockets....
Message me at office @dieselpunk.ro and ill be happy to help you out
Thanks I think I have it some what figured out was just having hard time finding which peice goes to which part, but if I run into issues when putting together I will get back with ya
With the body and softness of this leather it looks more like an oil tan to me. Would this be accurate?
why didn't you give me THIS video for my explores bag. This video is very good, and the side bags are better here, it was murder trying to machine sew 3 layers with the old design. Also interested in where you got those buckles, its hard to find anything better than tandy grade.
I will say, as someone who cuts everything out fist, I wish the small straps had letters on them, even small ones
Спасибо, работа супер!!! Вопрос, это какая то программа для раскроя деталей? Или просто распечатывали сохранённый, цифровой вид выкройки?
Thanks Tony!!
Dear Tony, I just purchased your pattern because i wanted to make one for my wife. Un fortunately i use the same sinabrock as you 7pins 6mm and 1.5mm diameter. But on your pattern the spaces between the holes varies from 6 to 7 or 8 mm. So it's such a mess and a loss of leather. I started to use the sinabrocks but soon i could'nt match your holes. You're gonna tell me tha i had to punch holes one by one i suppose. So sad. i loved your patterns.
Very beautiful !!!
Where do I get this pdf?
How do I attach the bits for the cross body strap
It looks like he just riveted it on - I am doing the 5pocket one, so that pattern has the holes for the two D-ring holders on the side pieces.
Can this be made with thicker oz of leather ? Like 10 oz or would that be to heavy , thanks
That’s too heavy I think
Good work! White stitching bad choice
Bud you make great projects and videos. I find you entertaining.
What brand of 1 mm thread is this?
No sign of a hardware pack yet☹️ The video says 7 mm rivets, and the link is for 9 mm rivets? Are these numbers the head size, or length, and most important, what size hole do I punch for your rivets as I need to do it now so I can get the paper off the leather!!!!!!
I order the pattern about an hour ago. It has not gotten to my email as yet. I did get a receipt from PayPal almost immediately. Am I doing or did I do something wrong?
Kindly inform me where to send the pictures of my finished bag for 100 dollar competition.
contest was over a week ago. sorry
@@DieselpunkRo okay thank you. Just to show you what I have learnt from your tutorials and your patterns.
It doesn't say on the tutorial as far as I can tell. How big should the two D-rings be that are worked into the back of the backpack?
20mm
Nice! i love it!
(I know it probably has a lot to do with how well you made it) but how durable is the finished pack? Do you feel like you need to be extra careful with it, or is it a good one to take on a day hike or over night?
Hey, just noticed that nobody answered your question. It might seem easy to answer, but the question is more layered than one realises. First of all, that pack is heavier than your usual fabric hiking bags. Keep that in mind.
'how well you made it' constitutes a lot of things. What kind of leather did you use? How thick? How much oil is in the material? What kind of thread are you using? What is your definition of durable? Do scratches still count as durable to you? Does it have to be 100% waterproof? A lot of considerations go into answering your question, most of which only you can answer.
The design is for a sturdy bag,but the final judge of that has to be you, what you expect and how you treat it. This all might be useless to you, but I tried. Have a good one.
@@offroadskater Hey, thanks.
I would love even more if you just scrap the music and do it just like Little King Goods do on he's video. But, you content was great anyway. Cheers from Indonesia.
How about some glue?
Wow 💜💜💜💜
Wow I wish I was good at leather crafting ... only good at sewing regular fabric lol
His patterns make it so easy - you’d be surprised how well you’d do even as a beginner
Bravo!!!👍
Tell me which camera are you shooting?
Thanks.......
what is shooting?
@@DieselpunkRo what kind of video camera

I like what you are doing here...but for pete's sake, get something to hold our work while you stitch :). You will thank me later. Keep up the good work.
26:39 he uses the stitching pony, as he has done many times before. For the rest, he's trying mostly to give his followers the best shots of how-to-do.....and does pretty well at it, I think...
All it needs is bike satchel mode. lol
Soooooper
Why do I get the feeling this wouldn’t be as simple to make as it looks!
dont know till u try
Great instruction..my first ever project..people can’t believe I made it..try it!
@@janstoll8881 how long have you spent on it
Nice but tooo long
You better shorten some seen such as stiteching parts
the music is wack. I recommend Enigma or Pink Floyd
Soooo....if a thing isn't your taste it's no good? hmmm.
30 bucks for the pattern, huh. That's more than I've spent on all my leatherworking tools combined.
terrible music
Same thing. If it's not your particular taste it's no good? Wow.
