- Kim Wilde (born Kim Smith; 18 November 1960) is an English pop singer, author, DJ and television presenter. She first saw success in 1981 with her debut single "Kids in America", which reached number two in the UK. In 1983, she received the Brit Award for Best British Female solo artist. In 1986, she had a UK number two hit with a reworked version of the Supremes' song "You Keep Me Hangin' On", which also topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1987. Between 1981 and 1996, she had 25 singles reach the Top 50 of the UK singles chart. Her other hits include "Chequered Love" (1981), "You Came" (1988) and "Never Trust a Stranger" (1988). In 2003, she collaborated with Nena on the song "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime", which topped the Dutch charts.

@@filevans Yes fashion is in a recycling route.Yet 'boots' here aint leather it's kinda suede fabricated ,zipped from the front, she often wore those from late '81-'83 on tv shows and photo sessions.She also used a lot fingerless/enlaced gloves i recall my sister and mates trying to match her style looking at my Kim posters.

@@alexioverdo5225 i know the boots aren't leather, i said leather gloves, and boots, and there is nothing particularly '80s about them as they are quite a standard thing you can still buy, you could have got things like that before the '80s too
@@filevans Yet the way she combined everything on her is utter ‘80s looks.If someone showed me a pic of this girl as featured here i would definitely recognize a cool ‘80s era chick.Also those boots were ‘80s stuff too,neither ‘60s nor ’70s( that were mainly into sharp and thick high heeled platformed boots or shoes).

No, she isn't. In the UK and f.i. The Netherlands she was an absolute star with an amazing series of singles and hits and she starred in virtually every pop magazine.
It's unfortunate that her early material gets overlooked in favour of "Kids in America". I feel that the "Select" era was her finest both visually and in the style of songs she performed: stripped-down, gloomy synthpop/
