I'm confused. Pokemon are so ever present in this society, how is it so unbelievable that there could be people that understand them fluently? Why would no one believe that a pokemon could give a testimony?
Especially when some are known to use telepathy. At least in the movies.

The shock that Pokémon are battling makes no sense either, Pokémon and trainers are a thing in universe. You can have laws against battling for public safety etc. but that doesn't make the act of Pokémon battling itself outrageous. :/

As for outrage at the concept of battles, Pokemon Gen 5 said that they're fine.

Yeah between the main character and the love interest since their relationship feels so forced and pushed by the game
I remember while playing the first Detective Pikachu game, the saccharine seemingly innocent game felt ominous... the creeping dread as it looked more and more like Harry and his Pikachu got the Shou Tucker treatment. I can't wait to see if Scar shows up to release them in Detective Pikachu Returns.
Scar putting Pikachu out of his misery then watching Tim cry on the steps of his apartment building like Ed in that scene would have sadly been the perfect ending to this game.
Detective Pikachu is the rare example of the movie adaptation being *better* than the game.
Also, this game was announced in 2019, then everyone forgot about it, then it just sorta came out.
Looks like they went thru the Kingdom Hearts path that time. Just announces game, then most people forgot and no news about the game came. Especially like now, where is KH4 and Missing-Link lol.
this is actually a sequel to a game from Japan 2016 (2018 worldwide) - movie came out in 2019.
Considering it just follows the plot of the movie, this is just a video game adaptation of a movie.

It's actually that, from what I remember of both the original and the movie, they *both* follow the same plot, but the reveal you thought was going to happen is made significantly more explicit in the movie. So... I don't know why a sequel would follow the plot of the movie again.

God when hearing about the movie I gave the demo a try.... it was the slowest mechanical hand-holding game that would let the player do nothing.
I'm so glad I didn't actually play it, if the demo was going to be the whole thing. They've should of taken a note of the Ace Attorney series.

The only two things keeping me from leaving the video is rt and the music because it’s actually kinda good imo
Man, kids deserve better than this. There's not even that much going on in cutscenes and the characters have barely any expressions. I've seen a fan-made movie that covered a single case and it was miles better than what I've seen here so far. :/

It's a shame that this game isn't better. The concept is cool, since it's a completely different look into the pokemon world, but the execution and pacing feels like it really bogs down the whole game
In BC Canada this game is 70 bucks. Can you imagine?? Buying Switch games is too much of a gamble for me these days. I'm not sure I'll even buy another one ever. It'd have to be EXCEPTIONAL for me to spend that kinda dosh. Most games are 90CAD
it is pretty wild to charge that much for such a middling game

These streams give me mixed feelings, on the one hand I love making fun of the game with everyone and RT is always nice to watch/listen to. On the other hand... this game is just so bad, it actually makes me feel that I should be doing something better with my time 😅💀
You can always do something while watching. Like pick up a hobby or play a video game. I crochet or draw during his streams because they don’t require as much attention as an edited RUclips video

It’s honestly impressive how bad this game looks, the recent mainline Pokémon games get a lot of flak for their visuals but Sword and Shield have such a strong stylization that makes any actual bad graphics hard to notice unless your looking at some trees and when Scarlet and Violet’s lighting isn’t acting up and all the textures are loaded in it can legitimately look beautiful, but this is so lifeless.
It looks like one of those bargain animated movie knock offs
@@caoimhedoesstuff9293Yeah it looks like they couldn’t decide between having stylized or realistic looking characters and decided to settle deep within the uncanny valley.
I don't know about the whole you can't notice the bad graphics part. It's plenty obvious in a lot of areas that the game does not look good. Gen 9 falls somewhere between Wii and Wii U on average.
This game feels really boring to watch too. Lots of dialogue, particularly boring dialogue too.
@@Allustar fr it’s barely even a game. I still enjoyed this stream because Rt is funny and i like to watch funny Irish men suffer through bad videogames, but it’s just frustrating that Pokémon has gotten so bad
it's impressive that they managed to make this look like a wii u game on the switch, the same console that is able to run doom eternal
Remember, this is the same company that made Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. I would say this game is par for the course. Shitty gameplay and/or story and/or performance, boring moments galore, assumption that you are a 5 year old, Wii U-styled graphics. Honestly, I do not want to see any more official Pokémon. Pokémon, more than any series, was made by the fans, and it will persist with the fans alone.
It’s funny how messed up the player models look, the graphics look more like their from a Sims game.

I'll be honest, after seeing the first little bit of this game I thought, "I don't know if even Dan is gonna be able to make this one entertaining". I was proven wrong :]

This is literally a game for babies some of these puzzles feel really reminiscent of Dora the Explorer asking the viewer if they can see something front and centre on screen

I really liked the movie cuz I've always wanted a more realistic adult version of pokemon but Nintendo doesn't have the balls to do it
If you want an adult version of Pokemon you should watch Dorkly's videos. Pokemon Rusty and If Pokemon Trainers Were Smart are probably what you're looking for. If Pokemon Happened in the 1800s is also a great series.

This game, S/V, and the DLC are the perfect examples of the fact that Nintendo knows that they don't even need to put in time, money, or effort into Pokemon content anymore. People will still buy it so long as it has the brand name on it. Thanks for telling us not to buy it, Dan, but...maybe just don't play it again?
To the defense of “this is obviously made for kids, don’t be so hard on it.”, even Kids deserve GOOD games. Children shouldn’t be fed effortless slop for media just because they’re kids. Nintendo can afford better quality in all fields.
This game is just a prime example of why games like Palworld existing is important. Pokemon NEEDS competition so they don’t just keep hacking snot into their hands and asking Pokemon fans to pay 60$ for it.
This game makes me think of AC amibo festival. Potential is there, execution is a flop

How does this game somehow look worse than the 3DS game? The art design is way less colorful and places like the Hi-Hat Café feel empty and poorly lit

God DAMN this game is ugly. The lighting is so constantly flat its like nothing casts a shadow. The pokemon models look like they were ripped from pokedex 3d on the DS. i dont think pokemon games need to or should look realistic or be super graphically intensive but this just looks weeeiiiiird

ng li m happy that the mainline games have no actual voiced people the singing etc is okay because its still kinda random words thrown together, unless they severely improve on the voice actors because the main reason im not buying this is because of the voiced character, the voices just dont match the characters which is kinda annoying for me :P

Yeah, I admit that it definitely has rough moments and the way it repeats information you already know is annoying but I'm actually enjoying playing the game. It's definitely not the most fun Pokemon game I've played and I have many complaints but I think it's a cute time waster

There is an insane amount of boring dialogue and the extreme amount of hand holding is offensive.
It's not the worst game ever, but it's definitely the worst Detective Pikachu game of the two... and yet it cost a lot more. The original 3DS game was a lot more satisfying and performed better for nearly half the price.

I think the Pidove tragedy being taken so seriously really shows one of the lines in the sand for Pokemon vs Animal. Pokemon in society are closer to humans than they are to non-society animals, despite many Pokemon being based on animals.

1:50:31 OK, important thing to specify about your comment here (I think RT reads the comments on these VODs?), you want Pokemon to have settings that are fleshed out like this. No-one wants mainline Pokemon games to look like this because while the animations are smooth, the rendering is some of the worst relative to its time period that Pokemon has ever seen. It arguably looks uglier than several other 3D Pokemon games. Even Scarlet and Violet makes the characters and Pokemon appealing even if the terrain is suffering. And the terrain is competition for this game, not even outright worse.
See, the questions in this are like "Who have tongue? Oh it the Licky Tongue Pokemon". I know their target audience is children but they could've at least put it up to Club Penguin PSA Missions difficulty, right?
Wait I just realized something, Pikachu is using gendered pronouns for Pokemon. This means that if Pikachu has to interrogate a genderless Pokemon, we might get redemption for Mystery Dungeon. In Mystery Dungeon, the English localization realized it'd be strange to use the precedent of "Pokemon are DEFINITELY animals, guys!" to call them "It" (which is already a bad precedent anyway, just call call the dog by they/them until you know their pronouns it's not that hard the dog is not an object and probably isn't It/Its Non-Binary) so they abritrarily gendered the genderless Pokemon because they wouldn't want people thinking they supported Non-Binary people or anything like that. But nowadays they're fine with Non-Binary people, the Pokemon trainer known as Florian from a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet trailer video (not to be confused with "Florian" who is SUPPOSEDLY the name of the male main character which I hate because that's just having two characters with the same name to erase the more obscure one...) changes their gender presentation from various ranges of masculinity and femininity in the montage of showing how much appearances can change, and is the only one in the trailer who is specifically referred to with they/them while the others are referred to with gendered pronouns. So, yeah, if Detective Pikachu talks about a Magnemite he might use they/them for them, properly, finally. This game will have a purpose after all!

The first source of that dance I could find was in a pushup meme for Touhou stuff but the first RUclips upload of said video that features the dance (it is secondary to the main part of the meme) is a Nyan Neko Sugar Girls version of it. Most charitable interpretation is that this Mewtwo specifically? This Mewtwo uses It/Its. Like, the logic for Genderless Pokemon to all use It/Its pronouns isn't really there since it's based off of the idea that they're purely animalistic but this Mewtwo uses It/Its as a personal choice.

Idk if this is a joke or not, but they are following the character design from the first game not the movie. It's a sequel so it wouldn't make sense for the main character to randomly switch races.
