I went to school in Gisborne and summers worked on a dairy operation near Napier. That was 50 years ago. I'm really glad to see NZ is still beautiful! As beautiful as central and eastern Oregon. Almost ;)
I like your style sir. Commonsense and lateral thinking a very rare commodity.. 👍 and a sense if humour always helps.. .. I have found someone who thinks like me.. lol.
Stumbled on your battery vid, subbed and realised I had to start at the beginning. I follow a couple of Kiwis on YT that rebuild/fix things and your channel looks just as interesting. Cheers from Aus.
Cheers mate... I always use washable crayons incase I get them all over the furniture. The plans were invaluable as it has turned out to be a remarkable likeness.
The scenery as you drive along that valley is unreal. I am dead keen to learn / see what you learn especially about portal axles, upkeep / maintenance and general reliability. Particularly if you plan on going off the beaten trail.
Yeah, I'm deff going off road but unlikely to be as rough on it as they were in the army. I suspect it will be an expensive vehicle to own. The maintenance log looks very expensive for a low mileage truck with high value items including a replacement engine, replacement transmission, replacement diff etc.
Awesome I've just started the build series I was wondering what model unimog is that. My last truck home was an 814d Merc box van and I've always wanted to do a unimog.
Thanks, took me ages to attenuate the microphone noise somewhat. Unfortunately I'm really time poor at the moment so the rest was thrown together.... Future goals, attain more of the most valuable resource we have... time.
I'v follow your journey in building your unimog love all the information, details you have share. Just few questions can one build a R.V such as your unimog project without any legal requirements as doing the camper box and have you completed the project otherwise it been awesome watching your project maybe one day I pop around
As far as I'm aware, you can build pretty much anything you like on the back of an existing tray... the only time you would run into an issue building it yourself without input from an engineer would be in the following situations: If you modify any load mounting point to the chassis. If you cut part of the body that may alter the structure of the vehicle and could affect rollover protection - for example, I will need engineers approval when I cut the back of the cab for a pass through. If you need extra seatbelts. I'm a long way from finishing the project and will be putting in loads of unique features. I do have several projects on the go at the min, so progress is slow sorry.
Make it happen. I'm busy for the day so can't properly review right now. Is there something majorly wrong with it or are Cathy's expectations too high for my channel?
Do you know about the problem loseing the oil from the portals/hubs by drivening "fast" on the highway ? They can empty them self in around 600-1000 km !
First time I played it, it was fine. Second time the vision is freezing, but it’s not your fault, I noticed the same issue on a couple of my own uploads yesterday. Something is wrong with the youtube app, as they all play fine on the web.
I’ve managed to fix my issue by re-uploading the video to RUclips. The first time I published it straight to RUclips from within Final Cut Pro, maybe that was the issue?
There was another, but I pulled it down due to bad edit. I'll re-edit and repost in the next cpl months. Am going to be pretty busy the next little while, but have got some big changes I'm making that will hopefully allow me to post a lot more.
No idea where you would find one in India sorry. The Military in NZ were selling off 30-40 of them when I bought mine. Just keep an eye open, contact agencies that have them in their fleet to see when they might be turning some over. The Internet is a great place to find them too. There are several for sale on the net at the minute over this part of the world. I'm sure if you look you will find some near you. Be aware of the portals on the smaller Unimogs ie. U1300. Good luck.

Awesome, thank you!
Love the crayon design work!

@@brendontait6968 you should have drawn it on cardboard so you could say its was designed on CAD ( cardboard aided design )

How cool is that, even without all the furnishings in its barebody state, you still end up seeing great spots!

@@brendontait6968 Thank you for sharing, looking forward to you finishing the project.
@4:33 bloody hell! Those Unimogs really can go anywhere.
BTW that plan looks far to complicated, you’ll never pull it off.
Played perfectly for me👍
Love the technical prints! Sell the bus ,BUILD THE MOG!!!! Way Cooler. Great Video came over from Bus Life NZ. I'm from NY USA :-)
Thanks mate, do you want to buy a bus?
Living my dream right now

Thanks, I thought that was mainly the U1300 that suffered that issue?

Also beware buying things online from India.
something very wrong with this upload - maybe you need to review and repost - or just as you have said - the "build"
