The decision by a budding lawyer to drop out of university and join a religious movement has left her parents in a state if bewilderment. Deneel Grey, 22, having recently earned her bachelor's degree in law, was two years away from becoming a lawyer had she gone straight to law school. However, on September 29, she broke the padlock on the grille to her house in St James and left to join the group, Following the Blueprint Ministry, which has a base in Portmore, St Catherine.

Their daughter's decision was not an easy one, from one parent to another, and that's why she was in her room quiet a lot, possible alone with God battling with her decision. They could visit the parents yes, if she was a child. But she is an adult for four years now. She sounds intelligent too. If an adult visits a church, it seems odd to tell the adult that they can't come because you have to find the parents first. I believe the church that she is apart of, if they are of the true and living God they need to mediate and bring peace with her and her parents, that is the Christly way. if she's not talking to her parents its not of God. So its best to make peace with her parents and parents if that's the path she needs just support her, and pray. I think the parents real concern is not that she cannot choose a religion of her choice but rather that they want to ensure that she finishes her law study that they paid so much money for so that she can be independent and economically viable to take care of her adulthood. But to squander all that away I would also be concerned as a parent knowing that even if you do so called God's work you still have to eat and drink and purchase things of this life which all goes back to economic wisdom

This story sounds soo familiar to me, my friend went through something Similar years ago all in the name of beinga Christian. Turned out she was brained washed into a cult, and was trapped for 7 months before she finally came to her senses and ran away. I just hope it's not the same for her.

Based on what the parents are saying something is definitely off, but unfortunately I can’t just go with that they are saying. I can quite understand what the parents are feeling, they have invested in this child. But I know of this ministry myself, it is not a cult, it is a ministry that is seriously serving God and they believe in forsaking all for the service of God. As a parent of a 27 year old daughter, I have learned that you have to let them go after you have raised them the best way you knew how to. She is an adult and will make her decisions as such. She is young, smart and intelligent and just because she didn’t make a decision that you all wanted doesn’t mean she made the wrong decision. Whether it’s a missionary, being part of the legal team of the church, or ministering to the poor. She was in law school, God can use her in the field as well. I am not sure what to say about this. But I think the parents dream for her has been shattered and they are taking it hard as well. She is in third year and giving up all the sacrifice her parents gave just like that , school fee ain't cheap.They need clarity, and no genuine Christian or church should allow this to happen, why put your parents through worry and sleepless nights not knowing where their child is? Had the dad took another approach, as difficult as it might have been for him and his wife, they would not have pushed her to the point of her not wanting to be in the home. In essence, they were successful in pushing her further and further away. Had they allow her to figure out for herself that the direction she was moving in was “not the right one” and come to that conclusion herself, the situation may have been different. I understand their concerns as parents but children do grow up and they have their own mind and thoughts. She decided Law School is not the direction she wants to go in. She has the right to make that decision for herself. It is her life and she gets to decide after she reaches a certain age. Parents do have hopes and dreams for their children and sometimes they live vicariously through their kids. Their children’s accomplishments are to a great degree, right or wrong, a reflection on them. The parents are having to deal with this, probably question what they did or didn’t do and where they went wrong. No need for guilt. They did the very best they could. This is a tough lesson for some parents to learn…we cannot control the lives of our children to the degree or manipulate them into being or doing what please us as parents. We give birth to them but we don’t control these human beings we brought into this earth. This is not the reason Almighty God grant us the gifts of these children. We raise them with love and respect and that respect and love is a two way street and not a one sided transaction. Parents might not agree with their daughter’s decision but they needed to respect it irrespective of how they feel about the situation. A lesson that I hope many parents will learn from these people’s ordeal. The more you force an issue, the more you push the child to the very thing you are trying to get them away from. Pray to Almighty God, put faith and trust in him and let him direct the path. But some parents are not good at letting go. They only know how to hold tight to their own beliefs and thinking and wants and desire not realizing their children are not Robots or something to be controlled. Children are an extension of their parents but they are also individuals with their own minds, thoughts, feelings, etc. These parents raised her to be a free thinking, very smart and intelligent individual, it just all went in a direction they were not expecting🤷🏽♀️. The level of control they probably had on her subconsciously and probably consciously was more than she was willing to continue dealing with. She feels her life is better served doing ministry. She can’t live her life for her parents, she has to live her life on her terms…good or bad. The Father locking her in her room was a clear indication of the level of control they had and was trying to maintain directly and indirectly🤷🏽♀️. That daughter wanted to be free from that. The more she wanted to be free, the more control they attempted to exert and that is what drove her away totally. If this ministry and these people is where their daughter feel she needs to be then there is very little they could have done to stop her, as is now evident. She may have eventually figure out she made a big mistake at some point but the parents did not allow time for this young lady to figure that out for herself. They kept applying the pressure. She will figure out if she made a mistake or not But that will have to happen on her terms.
She is no longer looking to please her parents or feel the pressures of living up to THEIR expectations. It may seem ungrateful on her part in the eyes of many, but as parents we do the best we can but at the end of the day, adult children have the say on the direction they move their life in and Almighty God has the ultimate and final say🤷🏽♀️.
As for that ministry or church organization I will say if they were functioning and operating by Scripture and Bible principles this would not be the approach they would encourage this young lady to take🤷🏽♀️. In True Christianity there is an order to things. God and Jesus are not authors of confusion or disorder. And if they in any way have encouraged this young lady to do things in anyway that Almighty God and Jesus would not approve…woe to them. Wanting to dedicate your life to serving God is a noble venture that many may consider crazy but it’s also a privilege to be chosen to do this work that many frown up on. But this can’t be done with people who are operating outside of Bible Principles, Bible truth and not according to the standards of God set forth in his Word the Bible….PERIOD!!!!. U guys Locked her in her room and because she don't agree to stay in school u scold her like this.. listen..when spirit call u to do what u came here to do,u must..the way she left may not have been the best but she found her purpose,she is a starseed.I was in University in Canada and walk away from becoming a doctor for spirituality ..I can still operate on a patient but my heart is in spirituality.Congrats Denile let spirit and love guide u.
