Sabiki is my favorite way to catch bait hands down. Cast net can definitely be quicker but if we have younger kids or people that don’t fish often on the boat sabikis are the absolute best and so fun!
hey jc, i fish the skyway quite a bit and i figured that the best time to fish it is from 12 to sunrise. I always jump and sometimes land the skyway tarpon and recently got my limit of speckeled trout throwing live shrimp at the bottom of the lights on the north side. Also got gag grouper and keeper mangrove snapper. Snook on the shoreline too. good times!
Hey JC! A trick l learned with the sabiki to avoid entanglements and easier way to remove multiple fish. After you catch, wrap the sinker around your reel handle like 2 times. Now your whole line is stable like the bow of a bow and arrow. Now you get a dehooker and go against each hook do a light shake of the hook and your bait fish come off much easier. Works like a charm!
Hey JC. Did about 8 hours in the Kayak Today up with Eloy. Gray Grunts are the Best Grunt's, lol. We had great cloud cover for most of the day. The cloud cover was a welcome change of pace. It was still steaming hot. We did have Pinfish but used Paddle tail mostly. Couple of keeper Trout and about a dozen Rat Red's. All the reds were small and cought on paddle tails. . Couple of lady fish and that was really it. I don't think we caught a fish on live today. We did better after the tide change. Thanks again Sir. Enjoy all your vids. So the Skyway is for bait only.
Fishing the south side of the skyway is a art...90% of the people who fish gets it wrong and end up saying it's a terrible pier and it sucks...lol... I've had great success there when the gags and mangrove snappers are there... for future reference fish the high tide only and the reefs( hint: if you know you know) other than that there's no point of being on that pier... good luck next time and don't give up on the skyway just yet.
I was lucky enough to look at the google maps in the earlier years on the skyway fishing pier, it look really good satellite pictures of the rockpiles along the pier. The recent update of google maps didn't show a lot of the rockpiles because they took the photo at a time of a lot of wind. Hopefully, the next time they update it, it will be a day of glass calm condition! Love it JC!
I take my 2 year old son to the south skyway and have fun catching baitfish. I make my own single hook sabiki like rig to make it easier to deal with. Good stuff
I'm new to this channel and I just wanna say this is the best of all the channels I watch plz keep doing what u are doing and I'll keep watching new sub
Great Video JC, if you look at the support pilings and find the ones with extra pilings on the roadways, they are at a angle. about 30 ft out the rock piles start and go about a 100 ft. you can see them on a clear water day.
Fish the end with white or silver spoon with a trolling weight setup but im sure you already know that. Very grindy out there lol. Awesome video tho I love the grind!
Check out the new Skyway rules JC, from 15th Nov to 15th March, max of two rods, no sabikis, trebles and only one hook allowed on any rig. Plus you have to do an awareness course online. The pelican people have had their way !!.
I have heard from another utuber to add a bead b4 adding the sabiki... I been doing salted shrimp on the sabiki. I was there Tuesday I was getting hit left in right with pinfish think I had over 10 in just 3 cast
Great video, Those Are the Dog Days of Summer 🥵🌞 time fishing , we take the good with the bad 😞, but not all fails, Snapper, Grits & Grunts Baby,,, Stay Safe God Bless,,
Three times for me with a friend at the Skyway. I'm with you JC, I HATE FISHING THERE. All I did was like you, feed the Dolphins and also it's a little expensive to fish there for no results. PEACE.
Hi JC seen the stone crab can you still take 1 claw in FL? Here in NC we are allowed to take one claw as long as the size of the propodus (forearm) is more than 2 3/4 inches long. I have never been on the skyway fishing pier although I was born in FL in 1957 and have been across the original sunshine skyway bridge many times. I remember when the ship hit the bridge on May 9th 1980 and the south bound center span collapsed taking vehicles and people with it an uncle from Bradenton FL was crossing the bridge on the north bound side and seen the span fall into the bay.
I think when you jerk up and down with threadfins on your sabikis it tangles up your line and hooks. I throw sabikis out and hook the bait by just reeling in faster.

@@RadReelingFishing Thanks JC, I guess I did not see these since none of the words were in the title so the search did not pick them up. Those sheepshead at the city pier see so many shrimp, they are finicky . Never fished of snook on RR Pier, but I have seen many pulled out from under that pier. Missed our vacation there this summer, but next year is another story.
The big mangroves are out like 100 yrds . fish outgoing and launch that baby with 3 oz weight. Thats where i get my 19 inchers to 20 inchers from. IF you look on the internet you can estimate how far they are from the pier by cars lenghts.
I think there’s a FWC rule about not using multi hook lines have to look into that. I’m not sure if they were talking about the beaches or something else because the people that stand behind the pelican bird are complaining.
@@RadReelingFishing OK that’s cool. I just had seen a video about it and I’m like oh no more rigs for bait on the skyway but I really don’t know what it’s about.
Make you own sabiki with 3 hooks, and tip it with old pieces of gulp (it doesn't come of like shrimp does). 20 minutes and you have a bucket full. Recycle the hooks for next time.
New FWC rules on Skyway as of October 1,2023 that will prohibit sabiki and chicken rigs from November 15 to March 15. Also prohibit treble hooks and top water plugs with more than 1 hook. Will also have to complete annual education requirements. This is to protect the pelicans. Anyways, glad you had fun catching the bait fish.
You are crazy as hell using that lithium battery like that. If you get that thing wet with saltwater it can explode. I lost 2 friends to a lithium battery thermal runaway deal. It starting spitting sparks, then exploded within 30 seconds. 70 foot Yacht burned to the water Line with a beautiful 50 year old woman, her 20 year old son and the Doberman. Happened at the Perry in Stock Island. All started from a little lithium battery that got saltwater on it.
I'm not going to lie I don't understand how some folks catch mangrove snappers out there, I've tried everything they've told me and what everyone else recommends and to catch one you just have to be lucky for the vast majority. There's some folks that always seem to target them and they catch a couple, but like I've said I've done the same as them, same setup and everything and nothing.
Would you ever fish again without recording? They say, “if you didn’t film it, it didn’t happen”! Do you still love fishing like you used to, if not recording
I'm baffled. Why didn't you fish with live bait??? When your Sabikki isn't catching bait put small peices of shrimp or squid on your hooks. That will increase your chances of catching bait fish.
Hey JC, put a bead above your sabiki swivel to keep it from pulling inside the eyes.👍👌
That’s funny
Or just don’t reel up to far lol

@exiled1gaming u got it. The transition of high tide to low.(when the tide is going out)
👍🏻🤙🏻 Fishing everywhere has been a challenge this year.
You got that right! Since the last hard hit of Red Tide I've been challenged to catch a good bunch of fish.
My family and i were cracking up when you said is that bush. Skyway doesn't like you that much 😀. We need to get together soon and go and get them 💪💪

JC nice size threadfins. Jupiter waterways are on fire, take the drive. 👍
JC, try the little bridge before the actual skyway on the southside. Have alot better luck there. It is snaggy though!
lol! I love these videos! The Skyway is a menace for me but I'm not giving up! Gonna drive over there from Melbourne next week and fish it at night!

Hey, J.C the a.m trout bite on topwater has been pretty good last couple
of mornings out at the Ringling flats. You need to hit it up.
Always entertaining to see you grinding. Btw a mangrove snapper’s official name is gray snapper. Mangrove is the nickname

how are they marked?

Is this the south skyway? The north doesnt produce much for me other than baitfish
South

FWC is the worst!
No treble hooks? Is that just at skyway or the entire state?
@@Kevinw4040 just the skyway, but I replace all my jerkbaits with inline hooks since I catch and release and it causes less damage to the fish.
Wow. I just went there at night and FWC pulled up and was watching me drop a cast net and said nothing. So cast nets are still ok ??🫤
Have fun fishing I will tomcat my uncles farm pond
Live near the skyway and have only caught babies 😢
You sick with the net
Watch guys hook up and reel slow and fill those things up
Yea the dolphin there arw crazy how they take ur bait and leave the hook

It's way too hot for mid day fishing.
Why not use live bait?
Maybe you already got the answer if you watched the entire video. The dolphins are relentless when you throw a live bait out.
ahhhhh
how to spell suvicky?
sabiki
I mean tomorrow

Cut bait at skyway. Lol. Wasting time vs catching fish
Youd catch alot less shorts, using a bigger bait

I enjoy fishing more because I am recording. Having the goal of creating a video makes the thrill of catching a fish much more fun.
Pelicans will steal your fish also
Still offering to put you on bettter fish than the skyway. A lot cheaper too. Just saying.
This is y u hate the skyway I been there 5 times n did nothing on each now with the new rules I'm never going back
