Yes, it's very strict. Everything external needs to be approved, by then local municipality and, in our case, by the local medieval village committee. That's why our next job is to select a geometra who will draw up plans that can be submitted

I relish the Silence and Serenity living with the wildlife and nature. I am sprouting and planting hundreds of Eucalyptus trees and hundreds of native flowering shrubs. To return the land to it’s pre colonial state for the wildlife Birds Reptiles Roos we even have an monotreme Echidna who we call Eric. He is a spiny ant eater and a mammal who lays eggs and suckles it’s young. Humans have raped the planet so my swan so g is to restore this patch. I can totally relate to your dream and adventure Good Onya Brothers you are doing the right thing.

All that was in the country but along our coast and out to sea. I have spent most of my adult life living in the South Australian country side. We bought thus place 5 years ago. I came across your enjoyed your video and enjoyed it. I could relate to it and know you will get a lot out of living in such a beautiful place. A good choice as Britain is seeming to have become problematic in current times. The peace tranquility and the simplicity of country people life’s is a balm for our souls soak it up you made a wise choice to get away to the country.

We're going to divide our time at the moment as we can only spend 90 days out of every 180 in Europe (Brexit!) but we hope to get around that within a year or so as we have an Italian citizenship claim in. Fingers crossed 🤞

BENVENUTI IN ITALIA ❤Congratulations Stuart and Paul on your lovely country home. It's in awesome condition for an older home. Far better than most projects I've done 😅 Just so you know, they put doors or block off fireplaces, when houses are empty, so that small animals, birds don't get into the house via the chimney. It also helps to keep out the cold, if you're not using it but it's not the prettiest look! You'll need to take that off if you intend using the fireplace and it will look lovely as it looks like a gorgeous stone surround. Lots of great space downstairs and great cantinas. Also a massive attic, which will be very useful eventually. In the meantime, great for storage, hence the wood! (warm and dry) If you need any hints...just ask me! Or have done...now I'm slowing down and doing fewer (she says with 3 projects on the GO simultaneously) 😂🤣😂You've done really well. Not sure if you can knock through walls in the cantina though as they looked load bearing. Anyway, you'll find out soon enough...all part of the journey! Have FUN 🤩😀🤗
The house looks to be fundamentally in really decent condition. Not sure how you even begin to go about raising the roof level without massive structural work and cost ... but it would make an amazing master suite!

With the amount of smoke that comes out of the fireplace, it wouldn't surprise me. We are looking at putting a wood burner in so that it's a bit more practical

Charmy and cosy house. Great "cementine" floors!! A lot to do in the kitchen. Good idea to have a kitchen downstairs so you can eat out most of the time. Because that's what you want to do when in Italy. I suggest you might build a small porch on that side of the house.
@@stuartandpaul The ground floor is likely to have problems of humidity, so you might consider to place a multilayer floor and a special net to insulate thr floor and the walls.
Nice place! You are very brave to go into the basement and attic, I would be very afraid of snakes and spiders! I live in Canada and I have going into my shed on a summer day for fear of finding a spider, lol
Awesome house. Maybe you could change the pitch of the roof without raising the walls in the attic to add the space you’re looking for? Hard to tell the true height of the walls from video so don’t know if that’s practical or not.
From our initial conversations I think we need to add a couple of ft to the top of the walls for a reinforced concrete ring to earthquake proof the house, and that will give us the height we need. Apparently they can match the stone to face up the concrete, but we'll see what some second opinions say! Thanks for the suggestion though, keep them coming!

Thank you! We're going to do quite a bit of landscaping up the area around the house - dry stone walls and terracing. A new olive grove is going to go in, and some new fruit trees (persimmon, apricot etc) but the rest we're going to leave as chestnut woodland
That's quite a big subject, but in general you need to allocate about 10% of the agreed price for fees and legal work. In our case it was just under. I'll try to do a video on the buying process soon

Awesome house. Maybe you could change the pitch of the roof without raising the walls in the attic to add the space you’re looking for? Hard to tell the true height of the walls from video so don’t know if that’s practical or not.
From our initial conversations I think we need to add a couple of ft to the top of the walls for a reinforced concrete ring to earthquake proof the house, and that will give us the height we need. Apparently they can match the stone to face up the concrete, but we'll see what some second opinions say! Thanks for the suggestion though, keep them coming!

Thank you! We're going to do quite a bit of landscaping up the area around the house - dry stone walls and terracing. A new olive grove is going to go in, and some new fruit trees (persimmon, apricot etc) but the rest we're going to leave as chestnut woodland
Make sure you can use fireplace and bread oven, before you light them up. Don't want a fire.

That's quite a big subject, but in general you need to allocate about 10% of the agreed price for fees and legal work. In our case it was just under. I'll try to do a video on the buying process soon
