Its useless like that. You can give a puzzle to anyone but a Lament configuration is meant for a special someone. Its a rare and exotic thing. Why remove the magic?
Maybe i should post my working plans on "how to make a Lament Configuration" the easy way. I've gone over this with so many people before... Everyone tries to make a box by cutting it from a solid hunk of wood. If it's made to come apart then make it in parts. Does no one get this? If you do the math. the box opens in two parts of eight sections. So that's 16 interlocking pieces. If you measure the angles, its the same. Use one piece of wood, same grain so it'll match up.
The best 'box-art' on the web - your animations are incredible, and the music and sound effects add so much atmosphere - looking forward to your next creations!
I will come and watch this again when I am feeling sad or scared to make me feel better. Usually I pretend to open one of my 9 replicas (usually one of my two working configurations) but this is in some ways better. I have many anxiety problems so something to make me feel ok again is always very good. Thankyou.
I am so impressed. You 100% nailed the exact mechanics of the LeMarchand configuration. You are godly. I will be studying your animation for a long time. You PWN.
The fact that there is that hint of doubt that makes you wonder if this is real... Then you start journeying the labyrinth of the net looking for more information only to find it's out there... And that makes the lines between reality and fantasy blurred even more... Your question is the best compliment me and my masters could ever ask for... it making even more doubt...that's the greatest compliment I can receive. As for you question....look it up, there's plenty of information out there.
@joanpapajani95 It's the puzzle box from the movie Hellraiser. When you solve it, it opens a door to another dimension, one of pure pain and pleasure, where creatures called the Cenobites live. When the cenobites arrive, they tear you apart body and soul, and take you to a place called the labyrinth, where you spend eternity at the extremes of physical experience.
As a Christian I have no problem with evolution. It simply goes to further demonstrate Gods work. From the smallest amoeba to dinosaurs and humans and beyond his power is endless. Even the present discussion about big bang reinforces my view of an everlasting entity whom I know as God!
@artist064 yes, but the amount of different interconnecting magnets would end up repulsing the others, thus preventing it from being put together in more then one shape, the poles you could align in the box shape, but what about when you move the shape to a different form, the magnets wont be aligned and as you said yourself, they would twist to allign themselfs thus stopping it from working correctly.
The original artist who designed this, Simon Sayce, was a good friend and we used to talk shop. He too had his favorites. Some of these were dedicated to him. He is greatly missed.
This is a version of the box from the horror movie series hellraiser that is based on the novel called the hell-bound heart by Clive barker. The story tells about a puzzle box that when solved could give you the most profound experience of pleasure. But the box opened the door to a hellish dimension where demons called cenobites exhausted the puzzle-solvers mind with joy and horror beyond comprehension. The novel is actually very good and original.
@CommanderCooper That was a response to a different question. The real problem is that these replies don't go in order. Sometimes when I reply to one it show up in front, behind, a paragraph later....makes the whole process hard to answer anyone without causing confusion. And I can't spell check (lazy). What I had been answering was it was impossible for me to make them currently but I am looking into farming the work out. They can be made but keeping the inner works to the 1700's is tricky.
Yes, it's at the foundation. It moves but I don't know if it opens a portal. But it's cool to see it up close. You can barely see the seems where it separates.
The Hellraiser movies, the first and the second one anyway, are amongst the few to actually scare me, even today. Clive Barker does good work there. It also leaves the frightening question... What if the Lament Configuration was real?
I am looking to buy The Lament Configuration but i wonder if the creaters at the pyramid gallery can have the original Hellraiser music box theme designed in their pieces.
I'm not easily scared, but this thing scares the shit out of me. I could not have this in my house, I'd try to solve it and just the thought of wanting to solve it freaks me the hell out, lol.
kickass.i dont remember most of those movements from the movies though.you should upload a video of turning the lament configuration into that knife thing from hellbound.
I thought the child added a sense of tension, apprehension...prepares the viewer for something. Will there be blood and horror? Will it just end? What's going to happen. I have a short time span to create atmosphere. On the flip side, I do love hearing comments and criticism as they only keep me from getting lazy and make me think. Many thanks.
Great video. Explains perfectly how it moves. I've watched it a lot of times trying to figure out how to make a real puzzle box that moves all this ways together. I think i figured out some ways, but they might not be purely mechanic. I guess i need some electronic components to do this thing work in real world :/
My bad....but then would you have me stick to just what the movies do or would you like something new that makes you sit up, take notice and tell all your friends?
Reminds me, does anyone have a good segment of the box turning into the Diamond from the second movie? Can't find anything good for reference or I WOULD HAVE INCLUDED IT AT THE END. Instead, I used the last segment for those keeping score from Captain Elliot Spencers demise.
@chrisdarkmunky Yes they have. In fact they've even proved the rotational pattern when one black hole circles another forms a clover leaf pattern. Do some reading chris they've been proved for a few years now.
Yeah, made the models but didn't have good / clean art to work from. Tried to clean it up best I could. Then again, looks sooo much better on the big screen then on RUclips. Thats why I started offering the DVD's. You'll have to give me some pointers on Blender.
your words....they move me so...I'm touched sir. Many thanks. Spread the word, stay tuned, post often, ask questions, buy the DVD...it's fucking fuking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I came across a trick that works... You make two cubes. One is 1% smaller and you map that one solid wood. The outer is mapped solid brass but you use a transparency map instead of a bump map so that wood cube shows thru with all the resolution. try it and see if you can get a better resolution with fewer polys used.
@toot344 if you used magnet's the entire thing would either stick together to much or fall to pieces, you cant do that many different shapes with magnets
Actually I'm a fan of the concept of the boxes. The movies, the original and a few of the others NOT ALL, had intelligence to them. The first movie was simple in one man dared to seek hell only to realize too late he wasn't ready for it. The cenobites also had method and purpose. I dig smart plots. Barker did a great job on a low budget and that's why it's still a classic. And it all centered around an innocent mysterious box.
artist064, While I do not encourage piracy, when i started the project I did notice that all the Hellraiser movies were available online as a torrent (~8gig). A great way to study the cube for animations. I was very interested in doing a render of the laviathon spike version of the from the second movie. That's sorta the idea behind my cube spinning. Now that I know more about blender, I will have to consider remaking it in a realistic looking "hell" as per the movies labrynth. cya
@TroggDoor Yes!!! Kneel before Zod!!! Thanks Trogg...believe it or not these aren't easy and need to be researched before I even get to the modeling stage. They gotta work physically or I don't do them.
@diimmortal Yes you can. Two arc's link to make a whole gear. And try this one for an experiment mr. doubtypants...say you have a round magnet on your fridge...say it. Right, so if you move a ferris object closer to the magnet it will rotate itself to align to the attracted pole. Go figure, the round magnet turns....like a gear. And if you turn the magnet it will realign. Mangents work like gyroscopes if you study them. It's very possible.
Weren't there two ways to solve the puzzle? One which released the Cenobites (Or Guardians which ever you prefer to call them), and another which not captured but locked them into the puzzle again? Been a long time since I read the novel or watched the movies.
@bersaba You can't disprove the imagination either. I like the metaphysics of understanding we can never understand god while still feeling a connection.
I am sure glad I didn't purchase the movable Hellraiser Puzzle Box! I don't want to take a chance where Pinhead and the Cenobites might come out. It's bad enough I have a real dead pirahna, the Phantasm sphere, and a bunch of Mogwais in my room (from Gremlins). [I can see Mohawk from Gremlins 2 jumping out of the box, grabbing the Hellraiser Puzzlebox and the Phantasm sphere and the Joker knife coming after me with them!]
first movie....Kristy in the room with feathers....a child crying...she wakes from a dream. The child crying is very much a psychological marker when crossing the realms.
@artist064 very true, however we dont have the ability or the technology to creat a physical one of these puzzle's, and we dont live in a reality that has hammer space, or tardis's, or the many other dimesional storage possibiltys and capabilitys, while im a firm believer in the multiverse theory, so somewere in the vast and wide multiverse im sure these items truely do exist, however ours is not one of them, yet
Not bad, thanks for sending :) But it looks like you (they?) had a similar problem that I ran into with blender: the UV texture just isn't high enough quality for the displacement/bump/normal mapping. The unwrap I found online was very blurry and would probably get a better result if it were done by hand perhaps. Anyways, thanks again and hopefully one day I get a chance to do a "proper" version of the Lament configuration!
It depends of the version of the movie. From what I've noticed there's more than one way to solve the cube so... Probaly all 6 faces has a door, depending from how you do the cube maybe even a differente Gash from hell might come... (Gash = groups of cenobites. There are many, like Angelique's and Pinhead himself has changed his Gash many times over the years)
@chrisdarkmunky umm, im not trying to troll or nothin but if something effects something else, wouldnt that mean that the first something has to exist? nutons law, equal and opposite reactions. something has to cause these effects. im trying to wrap my brain around your statement and keep getting a paradox.
@kaldicuct And people used to believe the world was flat, when this was proved false it was accepted and people moved on. Black holes were a theory until proved and then accepted and people move on. When I was a kid and first noticed the galaxies in astronomy books, I thought "must be one at the center making it go round" and now they've theorized there must be one at the center of every galaxy.
1st movement, all the movies. 2nd movement, bloodlines. 3rd, all movies. 4th, 5th & 6th from deleted scenes...(not! They're mine) 7th where the Lament splits, end of Hellraiser. 8th, Hellraiser II when Elliott was taken. Diamond pattern...I need reference to model it. Can't find one guys.
The animation looks like a FMV from a mid 90s horror game, i love it
kind wish you could buy one minus the cenobites and labyrinth.
+Sebastien Duffild If I ever get a license to reproduce it from Dimensions I'll do an authorized reproduction. Lot of paperwork.
yeah me too
There are over a dozen vendors that sell them of varying quality.
Its useless like that. You can give a puzzle to anyone but a Lament configuration is meant for a special someone. Its a rare and exotic thing. Why remove the magic?
@@blitherbox7467 A better question is, who would willingly open it, knowing what was in store?
Maybe i should post my working plans on "how to make a Lament Configuration" the easy way. I've gone over this with so many people before...

SUPERB! You had "Such sights to show us." Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much!
Its funny to think that I was literally 14 days old when you uploaded this.
Glad to get reccomended this now with Pinhead added to Dead By Daylight, very awesome
Glad to have you aboard

@taxi911 I think this is just "fake meaning," or stuff added to it to make it look scarier than it really is. It works well, altogether.

I bought a plastic one years ago, sadly it doesn't do much but sit on my shelf...probably just as well....
@bersaba
You can't disprove the imagination either. I like the metaphysics of understanding we can never understand god while still feeling a connection.
Which song? The one from the box or the background music?
@Zeanu are you good in both math and scunkworks
Easiest tie in ever, a hell world game and it would have something like this as the opening cutscene
i'd love to buy one of these, sadly, they defey the laws of physic's, so cant get one thats as amazing as the ones on the screen

The child crying is very much a psychological marker when crossing the realms.

For some reason this reminds me of The Seventh Guest.
The voice of the child is a CLUE

Tell me Did you just work now with hulu designing the new puzzle box? for next Hellraiser movie
It's only a dream, it's only a dream
"I used to tell myself that, used to pretend I was dreaming all the pain
1st movement, all the movies.
2nd movement, bloodlines.
