The better known and much more difficult Mt Thor is on Baffin Island in Canada's Eastern Arctic. This Mt Thor is in the Monashee Range on the western edge of the Columbia River Mtns in Eastern British Columbia, Canada.
1990 to 2011. That amazes me. Something so awesome that from 1990 to 2011 one person/group went up there and wrote in that book. Fucking awesome. Makes me want to rock climb. I thought geocaching was fun hahaha
There are several expedition teams climbing the actual west cliff face each year. These three did the easier amateur East route that is more of a hike with a few technical pitches.
Wait: there is a small diary at the top the mount thor, that has been there for at least 30 years, that everyone who climbs can sign their name and date of the climb? Now, THATS pretty awesome! How is no one addressing this?
Well done. I love the video. I would have liked to have seen an establishing shot of the largest straight down plunge on earth near the beginning though.
These adventures are aimed as they happen, not created as a movie, but luckily I am able to film while we do them. I would have loved to bring a drone but I didn't have one at the time. It was a 21 hour days as it was, trying to figure out an establishing shot would have been hard and taken time we didn't have. thanks for liking it
Odin is taller than any mountain in the Eastern United States but there are taller peaks on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut - but without so many Nordic names - Beitstad will do? But not Barbeau lol.
This is NOT the Mt Thor On Baffin Island in Canada's Arctic. THIS Mt Thor, and a nearby Mt Odin of similar height, are in the Monashee Range of the Columbia River Mountains, a twin range of the Rocky Mountains in eastern British Columbia Province, Canada. Although not as steep as the Baffin Peaks, the Monashee Peaks rise 8250 feet / 2500 M above the nearby, low-lying "Arrow Lake" and top out at slightly less than 3000 M / 10000 ft above sea level.
This POV and narrating is what i needed. Im from the island of Borneo and i love exploring strange/rural foreign places through Google Earth and found out about this peak❤
why doesnt this have more views. This is insane i just found out about this mountain and it just seems sooooo unnatural like the top earth layer was literally lifted and flipped sideways. If you look at photos of it looks sooo unnatural.
A few years ago I saw Thor and thought of trying to scramble up as high as I could get. After seeing your video my answer is Not Very. Did you get to Asgard?
Information for the area is scarce and poor. The kootney mountaineering club probably has the most recent and thorough trip reports to the monashees but I didn't read anything specific to Thor or Nifleheim.
the fact that you said cautious on a steep mountain edge???? cau·tious /ˈkôSHəs/ adjective (of a person) careful to avoid potential problems or dangers.
Me and my son (4 years old) where reading through an Atlas and we needed to see what Mount Thor was all about. Great video!

Good stuff man, get that kid learning the atlas and all the capital cities. I was infatuated with my maps when i was a pre teen.
Mega dad points! I was always fascinated with maps and atlases as a kid and still am with google maps these days

@@MrFunnyHandsInYourPants bro shut up

At least one group with a pencil.😊
@@goldenretriever6261usually, or atleast what our groups have done is leave the pencil or pen in the box, just incase they do arrive without one.

There is a book also at the northernmost point of Europe (Knivskjellsudden) which you can only reach on foot. I wrote in it a couple years ago.
Most decent summits have some form of logbook
Wow bro, great piece you've put together here. This surely deserves more exposure - you need more tags!

it is illegal to paraglide there, 3 guys got fined recently by parks Canada
Baffin Island must be fantastic. Mount Thor , Mount Asgard, Mount Odin. I'm proud to be from Scandinavia.
Odin is taller than any mountain in the Eastern United States but there are taller peaks on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut - but without so many Nordic names - Beitstad will do? But not Barbeau lol.

can i get more info on this, Id love to climb this
Information for the area is scarce and poor. The kootney mountaineering club probably has the most recent and thorough trip reports to the monashees but I didn't read anything specific to Thor or Nifleheim.
Information on the trail to the Nifleheim basin is on revelstoketrails.com, Thor lake trail.
I think it’s a peak on Baffin Island Canada’s Auyuittuq park
No, it is in the Gold Range of the Monashees. About 45 km due south of the town of Revelstoke.
Doug Brown no it’s on Baffin island
What happened to your fear of heights gene?
I'm making a video about Mountains, can i feature clips of your video in it?
I'll credit you and shout you out of course
Oh wow!
Easiest way to not die on a mountain is stay off 😂
