  • In this video, we're going to share 2 exercises to help relieve lower back pain.
    If you're suffering from lower back pain, then these exercises are for you! By performing these exercises regularly, you'll be able to reduce your pain and get back to your normal life as quickly as possible. So watch this video, and let me help you SAVE YOUR BACK!
    A key to relieve lower back pain is to retrain movement patterns specifically uptrain hip extensors and downtrain back extensors. These two exercises teach you how to engage your hip muscles while reducing effort in lower back muscles. This is going to help you walk more comfortably.
    My name is Taro Iwamoto. I'm a movement coach. I help people go from feeling overwhelmed, confused, and frustrated about not knowing their own body and how they should be moving, to feeling connected with their body, understanding their body so well from the inside and how to move in the best way possible for their own body so that they can move with a sense of ease, comfort, and confidence! If this is you, I believe you will get lots of values from my contents.

    Did you notice during these two exercises that you habitually use lower back instead of hips to initiate movement?

    Thank you so much for posting these! I feel you saw my comment the other day and it makes me feel very happy :) I injured my knee years ago and so will try these standing up. I found a way to "pretend kneel" with one leg on a low table and fully stand with the other leg - hope that it does the same thing as I can manage that as there is no pressure on the knee. Thanks again so much!

    I can’t kneel but will find way for second. I tried one for hips from your core playlist standing at door and turning from hip holding band. Too much for my lower back right now but will try these. Thx

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  Год назад +1

      if it was too much for your back, you probably initiate rotation from your waist instead of your hips, which is the main focus of that movement retraining. you can practice that movement without band first and become familiar with initiating movement from your hips and follow with your torso. When done properly you shouldnt feel in your lower back

    Hi Taro. When I do exercise #1 I compensate squeezing the glutes with actually squeezing the upper thighs on the way up. Do you have any tips on how to fix it? Thank you!

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  Год назад +1

      Hi! The cue of pushing the knee down and back as if sliding it backward helps. It's also possible that you are actually feeling lengthening of your front thigh muscles, which can feel like contraction of muscles.

    In these two exercise , we have to keep neutral spine all the time?
    And also tighten core while petforming it?
    Please clearify

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  Год назад +1

      while performing these two exercises, its not absolutely necessary to keep your spine neutral. However, keeping your spine neutral during these exercises will help you differentiate hip movements from back movements, therefore develop better awareness and movement control. so i recommend you practice with neutral spine for that purpose. I say its not absolutely necessary in a specifc context of doing these movements without carrying weights. If you did, you would have a very different context and performing these movements with neutral spine would be more desirable. For core concepts, I highly suggest you watch my core playlist and watch one video called myth of core. This video will answer your second question.

    I have a torn belly muscle or hernia to the right of my belly button. Now it all hurts. My stomach lower front hip back butt and directly under the butt cheek. I gotta go.look up some of your videos. Hope I can find one about that. Thank you. I'm afraid I'll make it worse as I do not know what to do first. I refuse to go to those quacks called doctors.

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  Год назад +2

      Hi! I don't have any videos on that topic, however, movement retraining that focuses on uptraining hips and downtraining lower back should reduce unnecessary muscular effort on abdominals, which should help with your condition. My core playlist would be helpful, especially the one I talk about proper role of core.
