- In this video, we're going to share 2 exercises to help relieve lower back pain.
If you're suffering from lower back pain, then these exercises are for you! By performing these exercises regularly, you'll be able to reduce your pain and get back to your normal life as quickly as possible. So watch this video, and let me help you SAVE YOUR BACK!
A key to relieve lower back pain is to retrain movement patterns specifically uptrain hip extensors and downtrain back extensors. These two exercises teach you how to engage your hip muscles while reducing effort in lower back muscles. This is going to help you walk more comfortably.
My name is Taro Iwamoto. I'm a movement coach. I help people go from feeling overwhelmed, confused, and frustrated about not knowing their own body and how they should be moving, to feeling connected with their body, understanding their body so well from the inside and how to move in the best way possible for their own body so that they can move with a sense of ease, comfort, and confidence! If this is you, I believe you will get lots of values from my contents.

Did you notice during these two exercises that you habitually use lower back instead of hips to initiate movement?
WOW. Taro, I've done a fair bit of searching for glute activation exercises and #2 is the single best guide I've found on the internet. Great stuff
Thank you 🙏🏼 very much. God bless you always
my pleasure!
@@TaroIwamoto Taro, would you please do a video on the correct posture when reading in bed? Thank you!
Wow! Both exercises are amazing. Very helpful! ❤️🙏
Glad you liked them!
Thank you👍🏼Wonderful Day☀️
thank you!
You have helped me so much in my mobility. Whereas some doctors felt it was helpless because of my weight you have given me hope. Many thanks!!
my pleasure!
@@TaroIwamoto 😊
❤✨🏆✨Thank you I did it standing up and the discomfort was gone ✨💛✨
Thank you!
you are welcome:)
Thank you for sharing this! I will try these out!!🔥🙌❤️
you are welcome!
These 2 exercises are very underrated! They are invaluable, especially with our “sitting “ lifestyle. Well done!
thank you!
Merci 👍
you are welcome:)
Two of the BEST movements!!! Love these for awareness of what's working in the body to make us move, and increased mobility, strength and control. Thanks for the reminder :)
my pleasure
Thank you, I am hoping these will help.
Reading the description will help you understand the rationale behind these exercises for lower back pain.
Thank you so much for posting these! I feel you saw my comment the other day and it makes me feel very happy :) I injured my knee years ago and so will try these standing up. I found a way to "pretend kneel" with one leg on a low table and fully stand with the other leg - hope that it does the same thing as I can manage that as there is no pressure on the knee. Thanks again so much!
you are so welcome!
Thank you so much.
👍👍🎯
you are welcome:)
Brilliant exercises, thank you so much. With a few tries, I could really feel it working.
Glad to hear its working for you!
🙏
I can’t kneel but will find way for second. I tried one for hips from your core playlist standing at door and turning from hip holding band. Too much for my lower back right now but will try these. Thx
if it was too much for your back, you probably initiate rotation from your waist instead of your hips, which is the main focus of that movement retraining. you can practice that movement without band first and become familiar with initiating movement from your hips and follow with your torso. When done properly you shouldnt feel in your lower back
@@TaroIwamoto
Thanks so much. I will try no band and run past my PT too.
Selam , belim tutuk açılmıyor . Doğrulmaya çalışırken kalçamda ve alt ayak baldırımda acı hissediyorum öneri istiyorum lütfen . L4-l5 çıkıntımdan … 🤲
Hi Taro. When I do exercise #1 I compensate squeezing the glutes with actually squeezing the upper thighs on the way up. Do you have any tips on how to fix it? Thank you!
Hi! The cue of pushing the knee down and back as if sliding it backward helps. It's also possible that you are actually feeling lengthening of your front thigh muscles, which can feel like contraction of muscles.
In these two exercise , we have to keep neutral spine all the time?
And also tighten core while petforming it?
Please clearify
while performing these two exercises, its not absolutely necessary to keep your spine neutral. However, keeping your spine neutral during these exercises will help you differentiate hip movements from back movements, therefore develop better awareness and movement control. so i recommend you practice with neutral spine for that purpose. I say its not absolutely necessary in a specifc context of doing these movements without carrying weights. If you did, you would have a very different context and performing these movements with neutral spine would be more desirable. For core concepts, I highly suggest you watch my core playlist and watch one video called myth of core. This video will answer your second question.
@@TaroIwamoto thanks sir!
😍
Thank you. Does anyone know how someone in the US could buy the chair in the link (not in the video), and what it cost in $? I do not know what € is, so don’t know if I could afford it. There are reviews from US, so it’s possible to buy it from here.
They ship muista chairs to the the US. In fact, I bought 3 chairs from them. You can check todays EURO to USD currency exchange rate. Its close to 1 to 1 now I think. Be sure to use the link and discount code in the description.
I found a calculator which comes out to $34524. I’m hoping there’s some decimals off.
@@bmiles4131 it should be $345
@@TaroIwamoto thanks, that’s much better
@@bmiles4131 yes!!
I have a torn belly muscle or hernia to the right of my belly button. Now it all hurts. My stomach lower front hip back butt and directly under the butt cheek. I gotta go.look up some of your videos. Hope I can find one about that. Thank you. I'm afraid I'll make it worse as I do not know what to do first. I refuse to go to those quacks called doctors.
Hi! I don't have any videos on that topic, however, movement retraining that focuses on uptraining hips and downtraining lower back should reduce unnecessary muscular effort on abdominals, which should help with your condition. My core playlist would be helpful, especially the one I talk about proper role of core.
@@TaroIwamoto thank you for your help. I looked up and at some of your videos but one said to look at another video first and I wasn't even sure what core was. Like I said I want to try and get it right and not hurt myself more. I'm now wondering about the new shoes I just bought. I think they are bothering my back also. Good lord. Lol
I'm not good at this but I'm going to give it my best. Gotta start somewhere 💖
@@shawnmacaluso9256 did you watch this one? ruclips.net/video/HbfNQ6owois/видео.html I would go from the top video on the list and work your way down. Learning to initiate movement from your hips and coordinating with trunk muscles is a way to keep your back healthy!
Will this help in fixing the pain due to stenosis??
what was your experience after practicing these movement lessons? Learning to differentiate hip movements from lumbar movements is so vital, so learning this skill can help you improve your back functions.
Haven't tried these yet. Will practice it and let you know.
