- This DVD of odds and ends was available with the PNKA Power Parade's Final Fling DVD. Much more rough and ready, it shows mainline and sugar cane steam including dumped mainline steam and mills now closed in 1982.
ooh full of memories, my grandpa was work with steams in 50-70's anyway :D. unfortunately i was born in the time when this steams have became mostly as histories in this country and what could i do was looked upon the classic videos like from you and rob dickinson. thankyou for making the videos as something for indonesian railways fans to remember and brought back the great histories of steams in indonesia

Thank you for the video, sir John Raby. In the past, Netherlands are buy more of this steam locomotive, but now the steam locomotive only 2 In our country. First, Jakarta ( Transportation museum, TMII) and Ambarawa Railway museum, Central Java. Some of people / local have a big hope to see this steam lcoomotive on the railway, but the stakeholder are don't care about this locomotive, and some of them say, it is difficult to fixed it/restoration. I believe that steam locomotive could be saved and restoration Accord the stakeholder and train employee supporting and motivation.
terimakasih atas video nya pak John sekarang hanya kenangan nya saja kangen dehh😢😢😢

sadly most of the locos seen here is gone now - with only at least 1 example still exist, unlike in the video where most classes still had its duplicates

Nice collections jhon. And, do you have more video about kediri-pare-djombang track?
No, it had ceased operation when I visited (in 1983) and only the shunting loco at Kediri was provided by Pare shed.
@@JohnRaby ruclips.net/video/iwhJER0HTKE/видео.html this condition in 2020 mr. John! Thank for your footage in Pare-Kediri
Do you have a videos/photos about the stations in 80s when you documenting this? We would like to have a complete documentation for the stations for the sake of restoration since more and more stations have lost its identity nowdays or even demolished to build/upgraded to a new one. We have many data about almoust all of steamy locs type but our architecture department is lacks of the buildings data especially the stations
Only as shown in the video here or possibly in video footage that didn't make it to the final video. However, I think you still have some fine stations around the country and I encourage you to look at some of the more heritage stations - Bondowoso, Tegal, Jember, and many more that still retain traditional features. I encourage you to do this before it's too late. The station signalling control rooms, the oil-lit station clocks, the station cafes, toilets, luggage trolleys, etc.
John Raby yes we do protect the remaining heritage like tegal, jember, etc. Bondowoso is convert as a museum btw. The goverment are going to reactivate the non operating lines which most of the old buidings has gone. That is our job to reconstruct the buildings and from your videos we can get a reference even just a little
Good luck with your work to preserve the Indonesian railway heritage. It would be great to see some of the Jember - Bondowoso - Situbondo - Panarukan line restored. I think the track is nominally in place throughout! The last time I visited Bondowoso station, the station was still manned but hadn't seen a train for many years! There were still traditional stations on the Malang - Blitar - Kediri line when I last looked. I hope you will also help to protect them from modernisation.
John Raby yes, you should go to bondowoso. The line is not restored yet but the station is. Thanks for your video btw, its precious source for our study
i guest the most beast steam of them was the big black with 2 star emblem near front lamp. in 11:22 its appear.

No. When I got to Malang in 1984 there was just one loco in steam on shed as spare loco. It didn't move all day.
do you have some video about Surabaya tram ?
No, I missed them by a year or so.

Because I was there shooting video on my big, heavy National Panasonic VHS video camera and video recording box.
punya video distasiun pare mister

Various places in Java in 1983. East from Jakarta to Semarang. On to Kediri and Pare. Madiun and finally Rangkasbitung. I have forgotten the name of some of the locations especially those on the main line along the north coast of Java.
