I think it's possible, for an Asian team to win the World Cup, eventually. Maybe not in 2018, but I wouldn't be surprised if Japan, or South Korea win it in 2022, or 2026.
And I pick those two teams over Australia. Japan do seem to be steadily improving, despite their group stage exit at Brazil World Cup. I still think there's a chance Japan will at least make a semi at some point, possibly before the USA ever does.

Really congratulations to Japanese team for this brilliant performance; they totally deserved to win the Asian glory, they have shaped an ultimate legacy of high quality, well defined tactical masterpiece and continental pedigree in creating an inspirational brand of adaptive playing style in reliance of intelligent passing combination, fluid attacking vision, dynamic transition of pressing mobility and high tempo character and technically composed feature of play with a host of evergreen talented generations in the past 2 decades. I hope Iran will compete very well and play against them in the final of 2019 edition; we are tactically improved with a deft of pressing, transitioning and positional mobility focusing to control the defensive pressure and indicating a supervised reactive approach to play a counter attack in reliance of a sharp off the ball and link up interaction, constant change of tempo and direct spark of speed to ignite movements from wide in the exactly same evidence we show in the World Cup and it became the basis of our tactical vision; we are technically more efficient to combine passes and penetrate in the final third with an steam of collectively intelligent squad once after many years. Iran vs Japan will be a classic final

@NewNip1 accept the fact that the Japanese strikers and midfielders never gave up . I suppose the Japanese paid all 3 Australian defenders to run aimlessly into the box and leave Lee unmarked to hit the winning goal ! ! ! .

@FukcVV I heard that Australia entered the AFC because the OFC just wasn't suitable for them anymore. By doing that, they found a better level to play with. Still, they couldn't beat the Japanese =D awesome goal from #19 ^^

@sptheone 4th gen. one of millions of Korean minorities here. His Korean name is Ri ChoongSong. he's once even qualified for the Korean youth national before he changed his passport to Japanese. he was discriminated there.. there're some Koreans in Japanese national team all the time. the famous HidetosiNakata(who led Japan for a decade as a captain. his Korean name is YeongSu) is also one of them. many. but Lee is the first guy who doesn't hide his own Korean sir-name.

@NewNip1 the socceroos played really well and you're saying that we lost because of bribery and a lack of luck? I hope you're not from my area.

Hey people. This is football not politics economy or history. Negative and rude comments on the winning team just shows off your jealousy. And it's always the same kind of ppl making that kind of comments. Let's together embrace each other cus without Korea having japan and vice versa as rivals, we wouldn't be that strong in football. PEACE JAPAN-3KOREA !!

I think these two teams are the top of Asia. Japan is the most beautiful team, and Australia is the most powerful team.

@Juniordukeshaha australia vs japan or japan vs south korea. The latter is more engrossing, however within 20 years the former will be the most important clash in the world.
