    What a game!!! That's how you go into a final. South Korea, down 0-1 most of the game, fought till the very end and scored an equalizer to give themselves a chance at glory. And Australia, despite being hampered by Cahill being taken off and losing a few players to injury, found it within themselves to get over the frustration and score that one goal to give Australia a win on the homefront.
    Both teams gave everything they've got. That's real football, that's the beautiful game. Congrats Australia, we've done it. And we'll see you again next time, Korea.

    • @bbokdoong
      @bbokdoong 9 лет назад +7

      Actually, South Korea was more 'hampered' by the injury than Australia was. South Koreans played most of the Asian cup without their starting forward, starting attacking midfielder and starting right wing.

      Sangmin Lee True, but Australia substituted Cahill early, lost Kruse to injury (not Korea's fault, its his own), Ivan Franjic also had to be out due to injury during the match. The only players left were the younger and more inexperienced ones.

    Good game! And about the issue with Australia playing in AFC, I personally support Australians playing in Asia. It helps improving the Asian football and preparing other Asian teams for the Worldcup where teams from other continents are far more physical than the Asian teams. I want New Zealand to join AFC as well.

    • @Kytota
      @Kytota 9 лет назад +1

      The fact that many of you Korean supporters keep mentioning that the team is missing some key players maybe highlights a major problem our teams have. We're still relying too much on our 'best' players. Like Australia here, is worried what we're gonna do when Cahill retires.
      If anything, we should look at Germany as an example. How did they win last year's World Cup? They don't have one or two great players because ALL of them are great players which means the team would survive when one or two players are unable to play.

In my opinion australia has plenty of outfield talent, we just lack ans a grade keeper. No offence ryan you just let us down in key moments. And its not your fault youre just too short or lack the x factor in key moments. Time to give a taller younger hungrier more green keeper a go and develop them

      you won 0 trophies since 1960 within a period when the tournament did not have 4 teams, many teams took it seriously and football was developed, countries were not in war and when the colour screens and internet just came, as well as the modern century (21st century)
      Even Kuwait (150) won it back then - they are a weak team. Even India (105) and Myanmar (150) took advantage of the situation.
      My nation Vietnam got 4th back then, but I do not count it as the best result as there is no value in a 4 team tournament within war time and when most teams did not take football seriously. Hardly anyone gave importance to those tournaments before 1970
      It has no value back then - 4 teams? Is this a tournament? it should not count. Many Asian nations were not at full strength like now or this century.
      Only trophies from 1970 and onwards count.
      Nothing to be proud of. Any modern looking trophies ever since? This century - with the better looking, higher value trophy? The trophy of value?
      NONE - this is Korea and they will not win any trophy.

    Well as a Middle Eastern who lived in Australia for sometime back, I just can't get this nonsense about Australia not deserving to be part of Asia or AFC what so ever.
    Atleast we have another decent team to represent us the in World Cup besides Japan and Korea.
    Rising up the local game by having Australia would improve our chances at matching higher levels in the WC.
    Australia is stepping up the challenge in Asian football, other teams should start improving to match it.

      @1294DS mate why we shld even bother about wot Australia needs it shld be wot ASIA NEEDS
      1- all these countries joined UEFA cuz that serve UEFA more than these countries n here is why could you tell me if any of these teams come even close to qualify ??? UEFA included these countries to increase the numbers of european countries to justify 14 seats that's all while in AFC the story is completely the opposite Australia requested to join AFC N with as lil as 5 seats aussies snatch the last seat minimizing the chances for any True ASIAN countries to join WC
      2- omg you made me laugh my ass out Australia is one of the most racist countries in the world like it or not AFC would be so naive if they allow Australia to take advantage over em beside being racist to a racist does not make you racist it makes you a mirror hhhh
      3- simply because Europeans take the advantage of these countries on both ends
      4- here is simple solution give AFC Armenia Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan back n let UEFA get Israel & Australia fair n square no more salty or bitchy n the best win

Bright things ahead for Australian football, we can only move forward from here

Western Sydney Wanderers were shown no respect when they were the best team in the Champions League, and now Australia getting the same treatment. If you want to contest, get better it's that simple. Better than holding a trophy you don't really deserve when you remove the competition.

    Amazing game. Congratulations to both teams on producing an amazing display. My hat goes off to South Korea who looked the better team for large patches of that match. They didn't give Australia any breathing space and made them work extremely hard. As the match stretched on into extra-time it seemed to me that South Korea started getting a bit tired and the middle of the park became completely exposed - granted they were searching for an equaliser, but it eased the pressure off Australia when South Korea resorted to long balls over the top.
    There's a lot of hate going on in the comments, all I can say is that it's not warranted. I think Australia deserved 3 of the 4 yellow cards they got (minus the mind-explosion from the ref regarding Kruse). However, none of them were malicious or dirty. Certainly some goofy and sloppy tackles (which is expected from a team that still isn't quite up to scratch with their technical skill and raw speed), but nothing dirty.
    All in all, an amazing match by two amazing teams. Keep your chin up, South Korea, you're going to be a footballing force to be reckoned with in the next few years.

I'm so happy for Cahill to have achieved this nearing the end of his career. He's true class all around. I'm proud of my South Korea for fighting until the very end even without the likes of Koo Jacheol, Kim Shinwook, Lee Dongguk, Lee Chungyong, Yun Sukyoung...etc. We kept it very tight. I'm excited for Korea's youngsters that showed perseverance throughout this competition and what more they can bring in the future along with our top young upcoming Barca prospects. I'm also excited for Australia and their young and upcoming group as well. Great game. Good job Australia.

      It was a brain snap. I think the ref went over and said something to the effect of, "Get off the pitch. Now!" and Kruse reacted angrily. Fair go, ref. He's probably just seen the end of his career and you're getting stroppy with him. Not to mention he can't actually walk off the pitch.
