This final was so beautiful coming off of the Earthquake and tsunami. The game itself was intense as Japan came from behind in regular time and again in extra to win in penalties.
I love how Japan is always so composed even when celebrating. Even when Miyama scored she instantly picked up the ball and didn't want to lose any time.
It has nothing to do with not wanting to waste time or being Japanese. Players all over the world do that after scoring when they're just tying the game or still down in the score, as for them it doesn't feel like a win completely, so they don't celebrate completely or don't celebrate at all.

People have special and glorious moments. This was one of them for the hard working women of Japanese football. It make take a while for such moments to come again but those memories always remain fresh.
I remember watching this game with friends. We were absolutely devastated when Sawa scored that amazing equalizer in the extra time. This was one of the best Women's World Cup Finals I've watched! I can't wait to watch this year's WC! It's going to be exciting!
Looking back at this still makes me emotional. Japan is such a good team. They really did deserve this win. We'll see if they can make it again this year maybe :)
Much props to Wambach for showing what a true champion does in defeat, she showed much class and grace by shaking the opposing teams hands. She was the only American to congratulate the Japanese team. Congrats to a historical comeback win for Japan. Its an underdog story for the ages.
I was so sad when we lost but Japan deserved to win. The country of Japan deserved that win after the tsunami. I remembered watching the game and saw the US kept hitting the posts right there I knew we would lose as if it was a Devine intervention.
I kind of had a sense of "Inter Milan 2009" vibe for Japan on that day. I'm seriously rooting for Japan team, of course. They have strong will, determination and team work! There was nothing compared about technique and skills, only strong spirit can influence the whole game. Really amazing!
The Japanese women are so talented and beautiful. Their skills are just amazing, so much discipline. I cannot get enough of these girls, I love watching them play.
I remember this as if it was yesterday. An absolutely amazing story for the japanese team and a thrilling final even to watch on tv. wish I could have been in the stadium. I also love that it was all the key players of both teams (who are all somehow linked to one another) who scored in the regular time. Alex Morgan as the talented new youngster forward sprinting away like a young horse and Aya Miyama as Sawas strategic right hand face to face to her starkeeper friend Hope Solo opened the score. Then veteran and superstar Abby Wambach scored as she always does before her friend and equally superstar on the other side, Homare Sawa, equalized in the most dramatic fashion. In the end of course all of the other players played a key part in their succes but to see the creme de la creme, the bestest players of both, that are also friends and former team collegues scoring and keeping alive the hopes and dreams of their nations in this most important of matches....it just adds even more impact for me. A legandary match.

Japan: I've got the power of God and anime on my side
USA: "run"
USA Might Make A Three Peat Like the 2000 lakers
hahahhaha...yeeeeeeeeeah.
Anime and kami sama ...
hahah not funny didn’t laugh
Aren't I Adorable The authentic religion in Japan is shintoism, which would mean their god isn’t really a human figure but a spiritual kami.
So lame bro
I remember this game. I was cheering for Japan and 9 years later I wanna give them another congratulations. :-)
What a day for Japan and Asian people 😊 feeling proud for Japan 😍 from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
I remember watching this game and was SOOO HAPPY :DDD that Japan won! The USA were a great team and were definitely expected to be tough but Japan came through, able to defeat 2 time champions USA and became the first Asian team to ever win an international Worlds Cup! This will be forever endearing and hopefully we get to see an African nation win at least one cup 1 day!
All these wonderful female athletes are making women soccer a truly beautiful game.
One of the best World Cup finals. I have watched the highlights many times and still enjoy it.
I've watched all their games back in the days. Such a great team.
A goleira japonesa agarrou muito esse dia , Japão jogou com garra e lutou até o final , Japão campeão 🇧🇷🤝🎌
I watched that game live, huge respect to these japanese women.
They play the game with so much flair and passion. Their passing, movement, dribbling all had so much flair. Im glad you guys managed to take the trophy home.
People have special and glorious moments. This was one of them for the hard working women of Japanese football. It make take a while for such moments to come again but those memories always remain fresh.
This is the best Women's football match I've ever watched. I remember ditching Copa America then for this match
wow u mus;;ve been high to have made that decision
@@Jeeon999 you probably didn't watch the game so calm down
Same
Glad Japan won it this year. Sad year for Japan, but winning the Womens World Cup definitely brought joy to their country.
The look in Miyama's eyes tells you she never had any doubt that she would score. Penalty was ice cold. What a baller.
Thank you Japan!! We were all rooting for you!! Much love to you from Mexico ♥
Ahh ... this is so comforting and therapeutic. Thanks Nippon. Arigato.
I remember watching this game and was supporting Japan. Great win from Japan!!
I remember watching this game with friends. We were absolutely devastated when Sawa scored that amazing equalizer in the extra time. This was one of the best Women's World Cup Finals I've watched! I can't wait to watch this year's WC! It's going to be exciting!
Well done girls well done. Congratulations to.Japan very deserved.
Hi Please can i know you
Looking back at this still makes me emotional. Japan is such a good team. They really did deserve this win. We'll see if they can make it again this year maybe :)
this champion even sweeter and better when Japan won a WC 2011 in Germany, Deutschland fans support Nippon all the way

Nope
No words ... an exciting match on the part of both teams. Congratulations, and especially the Japanese team.
Never give up!
I like japanese passion 💕
From Malaysia 😊
Muhd Ajai thank you

I kind of had a sense of "Inter Milan 2009" vibe for Japan on that day. I'm seriously rooting for Japan team, of course. They have strong will, determination and team work! There was nothing compared about technique and skills, only strong spirit can influence the whole game. Really amazing!
I remember of this World Cup Final, I was so happy for Japan.
A lot of suspense.
The Japanese women are so talented and beautiful. Their skills are just amazing, so much discipline. I cannot get enough of these girls, I love watching them play.
🤣🤣🤣
Well deserved. This is what we call perseverance!
Damn that last penalty was absolutely perfect!
kapten awesome look at the time the whistle was blown and how there was not a second of hesitation.

Yep, no keeper in the world is stopping that one. Precision under pressure.
Waoh Japan....one minute down....next minute up...just inspiring and amazing. Well deserved. :)
I remember seeing this final live on tv. What a great game, Japan truly deserved it.
