    Thanks :) The reason it backfires is it has very little exhaust and what it does have gets pretty hot and ignites unburnt fuel with fresh oxygen as the pressure drops.

    Methanol not water, but timing is the way you keep motors together. Less timing as the boost goes up and good fuel as well.

    It sprays methanol on top of E85. At 22psi with a bunch of timing out it doesnt detonate. We have extensive experience with non intercooled high power cars and trucks on various types of alcohol.

    Methanol injection not only adds octane to the already high octane of the Ethanol, it absorbs latent heat in the air charge, chemically intercooling it.
    Dont worry we know what we are doing.

    She is really built for the sand. Did take it to the strip once on the 67s and Justin could nto control it with the amount of suspension travel. Ran one low 10 at 70mph getting on off the gas a ton trying to keep it straight.

    True. The truck isnt the easiest to strap and keep from spinning. On our dyno (English Racing, this was ETS) there are no issues and the power is the same. Converter is the main loss in the combo. Spinning on the dyno is usually always LESS with a dynojet.

    There arent any negatives to the intercooler other than weight. Since this is built for sand drags, the weight we can save is worthwhile. More or less you got it, its because we can.

    @randombk82894 It was holding at 20 lbs and he would actually have to switch to 1 very large turbo to get over 1300 hp worth of air fed into the engine like a GT4718. The added power from a turbo does not stack on top of the engine's naturally aspirated power. If the single turbo can only provide 500 hp and the motor itself puts out around 500, the peak is still around 500 and not 1000. It can only provide as much power as the amount of air it was intended to supply. Hope that helps clarify.

    DSMlink is the choice for non-AEM cars. Our 1G drag car only uses the AEM and not a TCU. Check the caps in the TCU as they go bad as well, just like the stock computer will.

    The backfire is the ethanol in the system
    igniting. The EGTs are pretty low and the
    exhaust stays pretty normal, 1000-1100*.

    It's debatable at the air inlet temps you see on a twin 42R setup. The compressed air isnt anywhere near as hot as you'd think. It cant go less than ambient anyway, so spraying methanol that can drop air temp below ambient is a better way to go.

    Actually that was the meth line blowing loose. The fabricator is one of the best in WA, no such thing as a crappy weld.

    Not sure why it showed the 13.4 part throttle possibly, but during the pulls it was 11.5-12:1

    Few things. The amount of hp per pound is huge on a motor of this size. So it really could be out of flow by 30psi.
    Also the torque converter is a little lose for this kind of power. Was flashing close to 7k on our 1200hp pull. So we are losing quite a bit of hp though the converter and dont want to hurt the motor if it is really making over 1500hp at the crank and we cant see that on the dyno due to the Converter sucking so much hp. They are going to send it off and get it tightened up more.

    Been thru this one a few times. It was minor and it was fixed, it was definitely not as bad as it looked. A plug from where we had had a meth jet backed out is all it was.

    They are instant to about 2-3psi, then they have to be spun with engine rpm to make boost. Lag is all relative to turbo size versus engine size. You get the engine big enough and/or the turbos small enough its pretty instant.

    intercoolers are good but our goal was only 1200whp and to keep the reliability there it has a conservative tune

    This doesnt have any lag. Had to go to larger turbos because it spooled too fast on the last setup. It has a very loose torque converter which flashes. Properly engineered turbo systems on the right fuel and right amount of displacement dont lag. Lag is kind of an outdated concept to be truthful.

    @intercooler2 not that much since the only outside work was the machine work to the block...still not cheap to build but it helps when you can do all the fab work yourself;)...headers, piping, 4 links, all the fab work and tuning ect ect really cuts the cost down for a build

    E85 reads higher than normal fuel. It's due to the stoichometric air fuel ratio difference.

    Nope it is a Holley 850 built by CSU. I wouldnt say money isnt a problem, its all about spending it in the right places.

    e-85 is ethanol '' flex fuel'' 15%gas85%ethanol the truck would still benefit from a intercooler but cooling becomes an issue out in the dunes

    @mojoro Thats amazing man, im currently in the process of planning out a twin turbo Ls1 build, and I am actually thinking less boost and no intercooler now after seeing how quickly you got those turbos spinning.
    Is there a massive increase in intake temp though?
