Damn Tony, it really sucks to hear you get flak and people type sh!t in your video comments, when your production quality and professional / experience insight is the things viewers should try to enjoy. I'm just happy you gave this legendary tune a whirl! Love your work, big supporter right here.

You need to react to Reona Shall we dance, those trumpets and drums solos in the music video is epic and you will enjoy those different instruments being played in the song.
The Cowboy Bebop soundtrack is an album in its own right. There are so many great tracks and so much happening. Honestly, I wish more bands sounded like this.
I´m sure everyone will agree that the full Cowboy Bebop´s Soundtrack is a master piece. If you like Yoko Kano, I recommend the wolf's rain's OST and also Escaflowne's OST.
I second these recommendations. Excellent music from Ms. Kanno. Also any music from the Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex anime would also be a great listen with more sci-fi/cyberpunk vibes. Also by Yoko Kanno.
Well now...I did a comparison listening last night to this and the 6 minute version. The progression stays the same as we have a few more verses. There are some different fills (great bass playing) but not a huge difference. The best part is the vamp section where they stretch their legs musically a bit, it's about 30 seconds long. I was expecting something very different for comments that say "so much more" 🤷♂️
If you're curious about the song title, many of the episode names and song titles were in reference to jazz and blues. This one is in reference to the series of albums put out in response to the British invasion which caused a blues revival. They were compilations of work by guys like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf all titled The Real Folk Blues with follow ups called More Real Folk Blues.
Back in the late 90s I did a pirate type internet broadcast with chat side channel where I would chat with friends and followers. They could request songs. I never got stumped on a song request. This was the piece I used to close out my show and Tank to open the show. The wild west days of copywrite infringement. No one cared back then. No one realized they should care as it was all so new. I do not know more then enough Japanese to say more than hello, etc. But, you can feel what this song is about without understanding the lyrics.
Cowboy Bebop has some sick OST like-Space Lion, Rain, Blue, Call Me Call Me, Gotta Knock a Little Harder....check any of them or from other works of the director Shinichiro Watanabe, who's known for his genre bending animes and sick as f*** OST they contain
Cowboy bebop is my favourite show ever, definitely my favourite soundtrack as well, love a ton, would be awesome if you did more breakdowns cause this was great to watch
Cowboy Bebop is about a group of strangers that turn into kind of an awkward family due to circumstances while trying to find their own closure. Their jouneys are presented in a mix of genres trying to replicate the improvisation of a jazz session. The show has many layers beyond those, but that's how I'd describe the meat of it. Recommend to give it a try! It's not perfect but can be an unique experience.
Tracks like this, along with much of the Hellsing OST (eg Logos Naki World), got played a lot in my household in the early 2000's. I love when an anime drops some bluesy tracks, It never fails to set the mood. Like when the insert song "Dust" first played in Kekkai Sensen 👌.
Bebop seriously has one of the most popular well-received soundtracks in all of anime. Tony could milk the shit out of it and I'd be 100% there for it tbh.
Definitely try to sneak a listen to full version of this song. I will also reccomend you check out the Bebop soundtrack. My favorite song is Space Lion.
This is one of my favorites from Cowboy Bebop. Maybe you'd consider doing a breakdown of the full song sometime? It's like 4 or 5 minutes, either way nice video man.
There's a great version of this they did during covid that has some really unique differences that might be a fun watch even without reacting. You should check it out.
Cowboy Bebop is one of those tent pole anime, the kind of show that can get non-anime watchers hooked on the genre. The premise is bounty hunters... in space. Most episodes are self-contained stories which occasionally drive forward the main story. It is dark and gritty and rooted in realism in its depiction of space travel. The whole show takes place within our solar system, on planets and moons that have been fully or partially terraformed. This is legitimately one of the best anime ever made. If you liked The Expanse, you will like Cowboy Bebop.
The English title (and the lyrics they're derived from) is just a teensy little bit "broken" English. A fluent English speaker would probably say it's closer to "The Real Folks' Blues", as they don't mean "folk" as in that pasture country folksong, they mean "folk" as just "the people".
Didn't see anyone actually explain what Cowboy Bebop was about. So it's about a group of bounty hunters on the space ship the Bebop. There's more to it of course but spoilers. Couple of my favorite songs are rain (both vocals) and Call me Call. It's only 26 episodes and I highly recommend it.
Ya I totally get why you expected blues type music coz of the title. I thought the same when I first heard this. Now I think coz of the lyrics the "blues" in the title isn't so much the musical definition but the literary figure of speech for being down or sad (having "the blues"). and the whole vibe of the song does fit that + the lyrics :)
I always laughed at the title having folk right in the title but not having folk elements, but it's the "real folk" blues (as in the type of blues that us REAL folks have to deal with, ha ha).
you should really listen to the whole ost when you have the time. Yuko Kano is a genius and you will be blown away also, I enjoy your usual longer analysis much much more

You listened the version that was cut for the TV slot. Which is okay but maybe listen to the full version. I believe you did the same for the Jojo ones. And you probably don't have all the time in the world but the full version tend to be whole new experience. And just a suggestion maybe read the lyrics. A lot of anime have them all in English subs. Many animes even alternate from English subs Japanese subs with each episode in their intros and outro songs. That may not add to the experience but a lot of time is spent on these pieces of music. Especially cowboy bebop. And sometimes paints a picture on what you will or should have seen.
