My dad had brown eyes, very nice rich color when he was younger. Then in midlife I remember my mom telling him his eyes looked hazel, to which he argued that his eyes were brown. My mom had him face a window and looked closely and stated she definitely saw green in his eyes. As he aged, his eyes got progressively lighter until they were very light grey with just a few flecks of brown and green in them in his old age. Very striking difference between his youth and eighties, you would have never believed they were the same eyes if you saw pictures of him at the two different times in his life. His eyesight never changed much, he was just as sharp eyed in his elderly years with just a touch of far sightedness, but he could still read if it was about an arms length away without glasses. I've looked for info on how eye color can change so dramatically, but have never found anything that explains it. I have always had brown eyes, but now my husband says my eyes look dark hazel, he can see green. I can only wait to see if my eyes do the same as I age. I'm the only one of my dad's kids with "brown" eyes, the others got my mom's blue eyes.
My eyes used to be brown, quiet light but 100% brown. After I turned 32 they started to change and now I have a green circle outside and the inner part is even lighter. I didnt believe it for the longest time until I found close up pics that proved it.

My aunt (dad's sister) told me my grandfather, who died when I was just a couple years old so I have no memory of him, also had his eye color change from brown to green to grey. His ancestry was predominately Irish. The Irish was referred to as "black Irish" and he and my father did have pitch black hair in their youth and they both had a darker complexion which is out of the ordinary with that ancestry.
I had blue eyes until I was a teenager. My irises are greyish green with dark grey outer circle and yellow sun around the pupil. My kid had blue eyes and after around 5 years old her other eye turned green. So eyes really can change after 3 years old.
I went to school whose eyes changed colors. He was African American and one day his eyes are hazel, the next green, than grey then dark brown. I didnt even know eyes could do that!
I'm over 75 and over the last few weeks four or five casual contacts have said that I had beautiful blue eyes...my eyes have always been a light green, except when younger, and no one has made these comments before. Can medication or a vitamin deficiency cause this change? I will take the doctor's advice and see an eye specialist.

That's interesting. After my parents divorced, my Dad lived on an acre and grew his own fruits and vegetables, although he ate many other things as well. His eye color changed sometime after the divorce. I asked him, OMG! When did your eyes change color?!? and he said, Oh, I dunno. Men. lol My eyes are blue-grey, and I like them just fine, but I would have enjoyed if they would one day turn into my Dad's pure blue. But they never did, and I'm 72 now, so I don't anticipate any change. I don't have the discipline to eat nothing but fruits and veg, but it would be an interesting experiment. @@barbieskates540

My eyes change from brown to green and have since i was a child. My best friend pointed out that my eyes change to a dark green when iv been wearing my green tinted shades. Theres times that i get wicked eye strain headaches when their changing color.
No one in my family has green or grey eyes, i was born with blue eyes and when i grew up it started to to change to green then grey, then the combination between grey and green and now i have a deep green.. It changes every like 4 years is it normal?

i can never find anything about it but since first grade my eyes have been changing colors every month for years

I agree i think scientists don't like to admit eye colour can change and have nothing to do with a illness or damage.
Mine also changed when I was young. They are a steadfast blue-grey now.

EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS TO ME, THATS LITERALLY THE SAME EXACT COLOR AND WHATS HAPPENING! No one believes me except the people who actually notice my eyes

Is there a medical reason to that? I went to school with 2 people that eyes changed colors on a daily. Never knew that was possible!
