An important context that wasn't mentioned in the video is that, by Brazilian law, big social networks are required to have an office where justice can order the take down of content considered ilegal. This is required for scenarios where your nudes are published without your consent, your defamed, etc. Just like a bank can't fight against an order to freeze an account from the justice (they are not being penalized but their clients), a social network can't refuse to take down posts/accounts defending a coup d'etat (a crime according to Brazilian law). Musk REFUSED to comply and removed the Brazilian branch of Twitter. He complies with India, China, Turkey, and other not-so-democratic countries. It clearly states that he considers himself above Brazilian laws.

You are right. That thomas de aquino guy bellow clearly is one of fair right bolsonaro supporters... they will support Elon to the bone, even knowing he's wrong. The hate against the supreme court judge Moraes is because he is the one of the few that avoided the coup d'etat Bolsonaro and his supporters tried in january 2023. They hate him because he was firm and is convicting the people that was caught from 10 to 20 years in prison. They know their time will come and they are afraind, so they request support to far right world wide activists like mr. Elon.

Absolutely correct. Brazil’s judiciary followed the law and upheld the sovereignty of Brazilian law over a foreign company run by an immature drug addict.
I cannot BELIVE the numbers of fools on here who are defending Musks behaviour in all this and aren’t even bothering to read a long form article online about what accounts musk was refusing to ban.
      They were accounts that;
Were posting details of ongoing cases before the courts.
We’re posting political misinformation to discredit the government in favour of the former president, the criminal Bolsenaro.
Heavily implying that people should stalk and dox politicians.
Any country that Facebook has a presence in also has a legal team to lease with and comply with local legislatures. Twitter used to have this in Brazil as well until Musk fired them all out of petulance rather than rationality.
This is Musks fault. Not Brazils.

I am Brazilian, and the Supreme Court judge is actually quite conservative. He was a former prosecutor and has directly dealt with crime, among other issues. The point is not entirely related to the left versus right political divide, even though right-wing people claim it is. The judge is targeting those who are spreading misinformation about our voting system and cannot provide any proof to support their claims. These individuals are actively fighting against our democracy, calling for military coups, for example. Meanwhile, Musk is actively protecting them by giving them a platform to attack our institutions.
Also, to be clear, the judge has not acted alone. Our Supreme Court is composed of 11 judges, and in a recent ruling, his decision was supported by four other ministers (this is what we call them in an directly translation), with five votes in favor of his ruling. So, this is not undemocratic at all-he’s just being a crybaby because we don't bow to his will and money.
The number of people that cant understand the basic in our country even after explained is absurd. In here it is illegal to an international company to stay and function without a juridic base in the country. To prevent or hold the company responsable in case of any issues. Like the billionare refuse to comply with the laws, for exemple.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that in Brazil it is a crime to have Nazi speech, to suggest that people be racist and homophobic, it is a crime provided for in our law made by Brazilian society. X needs to respect the laws in Brazil just as if it were a Brazilian company like 3G, owner of Burger King, or Embraer respects and has a legal representative where it operates.

Some information about Brazil and the case:
Free speach is in our constitution as "liberty of expresing your thoughts, with no anonimacy", but also our constituition defines attacks against the democratic state, hate speach, sharing private stuff of another person and a few more as crimes above the free speach. The accounts that should've been blocked had some or all of those crimes.
And since 2002 any company that operates in Brazilian territory needs to have a "holding" in Brazil to awnser the authorities. Elon not only took the X holding off Brazil, but also ignored the brazilian judiciary and made fun about it. All Brazilians are under Brazil's law and any foreign person or company in Brazilian territory is too, if you dont like the court decision.... you go to court to fight against it, but until then you have to comply.
Also in our constitution is the duty to protect national sovereignty, no outsider will disrespect our law in here. And that's the only reason I agree with the block.

O free speech que Musk defende é o de pessoas promovendo atos anti democracia como os que o Qnon realiza. Também tivemos pessoas usando perfis falsos para atacar pessoas e instituições e esses posts continuam disponiveis.
Posts pedindo golpes contra a democracia e ate a morte. Se isso é liberdade de expressão para você e outros apaixonados pro Musk então podem ficar com o Twitter. Musk pode usar como um brinco.

X isn't under any pressure at all. He has decided he wants to live in a Free World. He doesn't want to live under totalitarianism. You could wipe out X and Elon would still be the richest man who ever lived. He's willing to risk 40 billion dollars to save free speech. Now, that is a man that deserves respect.

Every now and then I read a comment like this and think surely some hypotheticals need to be answered... In my younger days, I was also once a "free speech" warrior, but I can't ignore the exploitation and where "free speech" has necessary limits. So I ask, if there is a line, where is said line of "free speech" to you? Do you believe in the concept of incitement? Do you believe these views are applicable in your own home? Do you think it is possible for groups to harbour dangerous ideas that require intervention? Maybe my mind can be changed but I find it absurd that we can ignore cause and effect for the sake of individual freedom in spaces that we all must share.
