I had tickets in my cart three different times before 11am and each time “another fan already purchased them.” I’ve been a Swift fan since 2008 when I was only 8 years old and for the first time was able to get tickets. This was utterly disappointing and annoying. I really hope to be able to purchase tickets in the future this situation was heartbreaking

I wouldn't doubt if the music labels are taking a cut from Livenation, especially at their markups. The music industry has always been an economically incestuous family.
Facts
This is a "careful what you wish for scenario" For decades people were pushing to legalize ticket resales. This is the result of that decision. If you look at the prices of the current tickets they are 1000% higher than the original cost. There needs to be a cap on ticket resales. Ticketmaster has priced the average fan right out of the building. Another case of rich get richer.

They have lots. Others charge a little more. I’m going to assume that’s why everyone uses them.
Alot of venues aren't allowed to use other platforms ..
issue isn’t the platform. it’s live nation who ticketmaster partners with. they own the stadiums and have contracts with them so artists have to go through them if they want to perform in stadiums

Touring is not about the fans, it's how artists make their real money. If it wasn't profitable they wouldn't do it.

I'm so happy Ticketmaster is finally getting heat for this. I had the same issue for Shawn Mendes' past two concert tours and was unable to get concert tickets 😔 It's the worst feeling not being able to see your favourite artist.

You should check your privilege and give the tickets to two of your black friends, if you even have any.
The problem isn’t Ticketmaster crashing. It’s the dynamic pricing (i.e, gouging).
Taylor opted out of dynamic pricing, posted the prices before presale, and TM still raised them on the first day. There’s bigger issues at hand

*LIVENATION damaged the whole music industry. You really can't book locally anymore which hurt local promoters and dropped potential artists fees. Regarding Travis Scotts's concert at Astroworld it was Live Nation's responsibility to assure artist safety at a secure well organized venue. Live Nation had the power to save concert goers but hide behind a Black artist and allow him to take the blame for their incompetence. Live Nation is destroying the music industry.*

John Oliver did a segment about Ticketmaster a few months ago. He talked about how horrible they are. He should do a follow up segment after this disaster.

Isn't the bigger problem people that buy the tickets intending to resell? Require ID or the credit card used to purchase the ticket swiped at the venue to end that.
And if something happens and you can't go, you can't sell them and make your money back?

I was like many others who had a pre sale code verify fan and got an email and a text with the code tried entering the code and got kicked out and got in the queue and got kicked out of the queue at the last minute and I couldn't even select seats and my question for tm is y did u guys not prepare for this better and y for the pre-sale code was not in the beginning and what I am more upset about is the price gouging of the tickets that you guys are making it impossible for us to by!!!!!!!!! While Ticketmaster should certainly be held accountable, they are not singularly responsible for the powder keg that finally blew up in the faces of ticket purchasers.
Our lawmakers and many these music artists who have made millions upon millions of dollars also share responsibility. How many of them have used their star power and influence to absolutely demand that our government set parameters and limit Ticketmaster’s ability to become a monopoly? (which they ARE)
Most haven’t. Why? Because these artists and their labels already know how Ticketmaster operates. These artists and labels know that they don’t control the prices of tickets. The price is based on this old fashioned notion called “supply and demand”
These people know damn well that its better for them if demand exceeds supply because it means higher ticket sales and sold out venues.
I’m not saying that some artists don’t care, but they sure haven’t done enough to use their influence to help change the status quo.
As far as our lawmakers, they gave Ticketmaster a proverbial slap on the wrist way back in the day. Did they really think that was going to change the culture at this company? It’s about making money. They just became more powerful and more greedy. These lawmakers did a piss poor job looking out for the consumers, who ultimately always end up getting the short end of the stick.
It wasn’t until Tickemaster screwed up ticket sales with one of the biggest music artists on the planet that they finally said “Oh well NOW we need to do something more serious to keep Tickemaster in check” smh.
I'm so glad Washington is getting right on top of the vital problem of American life - not homicides, not hunger, not sex-trafficking, but Taylor Swift tickets. You bet.

I don’t like how this is has been going on forever to other artists and fandoms and yet it took it happening to Taylor Swift for somebody to finally listen and do something about it. BTS fans, Kpop fans and many other fandoms have been complaining about this for awhile now. I’m glad that something is being done but why didn’t it matter enough when other fandoms complained and were upset?

You don’t see the issue bc you weren’t part of the presale
The problem is that they didn’t make a good job trying to prevent bots and scalpers from buying tickets. That’s what the Verified Fan thing was supposed to be. It was supposed to verify that you’re a fan, a person and not a bot. There are many tickets in reselling sites now. So, that means they didn’t do a good job preventing that instead of having tickets for fans that are going to be at these concerts.

Someone got really rich off this completely illegal nonsense. They got into ticket jokes system and held everyone up who was on the phone or online while those tickets were sold off to bots.

I've hated Ticketmaster for years - their fees are outrageous. So, I rarely go to any event requiring Ticketmaster. What I don't understand is why artists work with Ticketmaster for their events. It appears obvious that Ticketmaster doesn't have a monopoly as a ticket agent, otherwise the Feds would have busted them up by now.
I rather buy tickets at the venue. No fee
Boycott all the ticket sellers!!! In my opinion, you need to ORGANIZE flash mobs 4 hours before the concert starts and get in line like you have a ticket to give to the ticket takers. Then you get out of the line, thus the concert starts later or gets cancelled!!!

Exactly. Having some really good headphones and your phone and you’re pretty much getting the same thing. The only difference is that you can’t see them in the flesh, but when I went to my first and only concert I could barely see him
Problem though is artists don't make money selling CDS and albums anymore. Napster, You Tube etc. Live is much better.
