    You actually can buy alcohol in supermarkets in most Australian states. Not mine which is South Australia.
    Adult Son and I were in NZ for a week almost 2 years ago. We had a laugh when, in Countdown, we saw an oat milk brand called The Boring Oat Milk, or something almost similar.
    Do you have Aldi in NZ?

      I’ve heard of “The boring oat milk” it did make me laugh! SA was the last state I visited so was remembering that set up but I had heard that other states were different. Nope no Aldi’s. I miss Aldi and Lidl from when I was living in England.

    paknsave prices vary between shops. they use to advertise their specials online, but they dont now, lucky for me i have a choice of 3 all within 5 mins and i compare prices between the 3, even different days can give you different prices, just last week on one day, pies that were selling in one store at 8.29 were 4.79 in another,

      I’ve noticed that. I have 2 to choose from. The other week I went in on a Sunday bought a cucumber for $2.50 then next day I popped back in the cucumbers were $3.50! Just overnight.

    I've gone from cooking all my meals to pot noodles and pies most of the week. Also you are in more of spot if you live alone. Cooking for 1 is a nightmare.

      Yes I remember from when I was at uni. I would cook a batch and freeze mini meals. But then I’d have to eat the same thing everyday it was so boring!!

    What are average salaries in New Zealand?

    • @emilyinnz
      @emilyinnz  Месяц назад

      I’ve asked Google and got an answer which varies for region saying it’s $50k when averaged out. This shop was in Auckland where the salaries are higher but living costs are very high across the country and all food is taxed which is another reason it’s so high. Living at the bottom of the world the cost to import food is expensive that’s why a lot of the fruit and veg you see me buying is seasonal and grown locally.

      @@emilyinnz not only imported food, food we export is often cheaper over seas than we can buy it locally. l saw an english food critic review. frozen nz lanb shanks that were 7 pounds there and they sold for 27 dollars at countdown and 21 at paknsave

      It’s pretty big. I haven’t been to the Lincoln told one. But I also have Albany and warkworth (the new one) close by and they are smaller than silverdale. I’ve heard of people driving out of their way to the go to the silverdale one!

      Oh wow! I’ve just filmed a shop at New World and I couldn’t believe how expensive exactly the same item is compared to Pak n Save and Foodstuffs owns both supermarkets 🤷‍♀️ the video will go live in a few weeks.

      No it’s not! New Zealand’s supermarkets are expensive this was a “cheap” shop by NZ standards.
