We should win these next 3 games. If we do that, we go into SNF at home against Green Bay, our hardest game left. If we can steal that one, we will win the division
You just explained perfectly why I’m optimistic for this team (particularly next year). Just an average offensive line and some more development should get this team to a much better place. I do think that the Cardinals are better than you give them credit tho. They have a great run game and Kyler is a pretty special quarterback. I of course hope the hawks can sweep them but splitting with them might be more realistic. They’re a tough matchup for sure.
Not sure about being the time to credit only Mike McDonald with turning this team around. Too many players are going above and beyond to mitigate the poor coaching decisions that are directly responsible for the majority of game losses. Grubb is unimpressive and from looking at the 22’s it’s easier to conclude that Smith play adjustments are offsetting the shortcomings in the booth and players are responding by making better play decisions. I agree that the defense seems better coached and are executing really well in spite of the linebacker blunders by GM in a costly attempt to fill the massive void left by Wagner, who ironically or not has continued to play to expectations at Washington. These Hawk coaches have a lot to prove. Save the back pats for the end of the season, if they are well and truly warranted. YMMV✌️
On the offensive side of the ball, I mostly agree with you. Grubb is clearly better than Waldron, but this offensive line has been terrible and Grubb hasn't done enough to compensate. Geno and his playmakers have absolutely been fighting uphill. On the defense, I believe that even when the defense was struggling Mike Mac has been excellent from an X's and O's standpoint. The hawks have been much better in practically every statistical category. So I will give him credit for that and i think he's been great but yeah Grubb has been up and down to say the least. Thanks for your thoughts and for watching!
@ Agree mostly but I think Grubb is just as disappointing as Waldron and the only way to prove this is continuing to keep him on. I don’t think he’s a good fit at all for the NFL and the sooner he is removed the better the Hawks prospects are. Some of the comments he has made about his own performance shows a really delusional concept of his ability. I’m not sure Smith can continue to carry Grubb and do the job he has to do, it’s just too much to ask of a player facing what a top QB has to face and I’m starting to resent that Smith has to be the name and face of OC failings, but in this situation I can’t think of any other current QB that I would want to have to rely on. If Mac really has what it takes to be a top performing HC then he would already know this and is prepared to make the unpopular decision to move Grubb along, and if he doesn’t then he doesn’t have what it takes. HC is more than just polite politician speak at press conferences. Just my opinion ✌️
@@gmichaelhall While I understand that this is an opinion, we have to give Grubb the time to settle in as an NFL OC. Remember, Shane Waldron was coaching for three years from 2021-2023. You saw how atrocious playcalling was on 3rd down last year. He's definitely not the greatest playcaller but you can't play down the fact that he's trying to adapt with bad run blocking and pass protection. With Mike, he's also a first time HC as well and he's honestly done about what I expected. He's understood the importance of moving on from Dodson and Baker, and now we're seeing improvements. Grubb is not on my top list of worries; the offensive line is the primary reason for recent offensive struggles. If anything, he needs to command a more balanced offensive; however, that's difficult when Walker gets blown up in the backfield.
@ I admire your optimism. College coaches are by and large indoctrinated singular mindsets. Without years of experience under an experienced NFL coach, that mindset persists and I think that’s what we are seeing. Grubb is paid millions to perform at an NFL level and he seems determined to stick with his college strategies, it always feels like opposing teams read his offensive schemes too easily, forcing the busiest player on the field to hastily adjust, with varying results. I understand that some are willing to give this man years to pull his finger out but I don’t think time is going to change much. Something in his demeanour feels off, to me. My gut tells me he is a bust. I factor in the o line problems too, and to a lesser extent he has been part of that problem too and where that weakness revealed itself loudest. Great coaches find ways to win with what they have, even if few succeed at it. Ultimately, the decision to put a newbie non NFL OC under a rookie HC was an undercooked plan, imo. Smith has proven his giant shoulders and for the franchise sake I hope he can continue to do his job well while also inadvertently having to carry Grubb too. Such an asset to have such a strong man that’s also a top tier NFL QB on our teams side. Go Hawks✌️
@@gmichaelhall I guess I'm just more patient than a lot of people. All I've known for a long time as a Seahawks fan was a run-first offense that was complemented by play action. It's clear that Pete and his OCs executed that style of offense very well under Russell and Geno. I'm a proponent for not firing coaches during their first year, due to the unknown and unreasonably high expectations from Seahawks fans. I simply can't base my opinions on "what my gut says". It's not quantifiable. There are many aspects that integrate into a functioning NFL offense and you cannot simply pin every mishap on Ryan Grubb. He wants Geno throw the ball 40 times a game? That's not sustainable especially behind league-worst pass protection. Not to mention, he says he wants to get K9 involved more yet he struggles to run well between the tackles and gets hit immediately following handoffs. Geno getting mauled back there and being hit as he throws constantly is probably hurting his confidence, which in turn result in people seeing him upset and frustrated on the sideline. Then all of a sudden, he isn't a good leader and his body language irritates people? It all seems logical that Geno is done with this incompetent quintet of offensive linemen. Firing Ryan Grubb and hiring a new OC will not magically improve the offense. After all, it was Pete Carroll's regime (as well as John Schneider) that handed down this poorly constructed offensive line to a coordinator who wants to throw the ball more between the 20s. The offensive line is a vital part of an offense and it's blasphemous that people will blame the playcalling and Geno when the offensive line is not doing their job on 1st and 2nd down. Getting sacked on 3rd down is getting old for all of us, right?
I don't think Seattle would have shut them down or won the game had the niners had their full arsenal. The injury bug has cost these guys. Some games this year. Seattle's not ready. They need to fix that offensive line and add a legitimate pass rush guy. We need a pass rush guy that teams have to game plan for. I don't think the defensive tackle we got from texas is going to be that guy.
I agree that the injuries for the niners were a factor but the hawks aren't 100% on defense either. They were down a starting safety and their top edge rusher so both teams really were injured. 100% the hawks need offensive line help and I think edge is a need as well. I like Boye Mafe and I think there's a chance Hall turns into some sort of #1 guy but without Nwosu this pass rush has looked shallow. I agree that Byron Murphy probably is never going to be a guy that offenses have to gameplan around. To me there's really only two of those guys in the league (Chris Jones and Dexter Lawrance) at least as a pass rusher. But Murphy has been a good pocket pusher and a great run defender and I think if he continues to grow that it's going to be a good pick. Seattle's not ready yet but I think they're getting close. Thanks for watching!
In the fourth quarter there was a really important blown call that would’ve had the niners at 4th n 1, which they probably would’ve went for it….and more than likely would’ve gotten the first. If they would’ve done that…it would’ve been clock ran down, game over. Yap all you want but if you look into it, this is all very very true, So the Seahawks did NOT shut the niners down.
The Seahawks held the 49ers to under 300 total yards and just 17 points. I agree that the 49ers could’ve done a better job of closing out this game and that a lot of things on that drive could’ve gone differently. Even without Bosa at the end their defense held the offense in check until the final drive. But the Seahawks defense did shut down the 49ers offense.
no kyle helped us win by not using jordan mason and the refs helped us get away with using 2 straight timouts and the nick bosa thing but a win is a win🤣
Yeah I agree the niners should've won. The defense was really good and that's really all I was saying in this video. The offense really shouldn't have gotten the chance to go win the game but this defense was a huge factor in that.
The only reason your hawks won is because Bosa went out and we had a lot of rocks in defense. And every team knows now that if you play man against my 49ers you can stop them
As for your Bosa comment, yeah that's a huge factor. The offense really came alive after he went down and I think that last drive probably would've gone differently if he was out there. Huge factor in the game for sure. As for the "just play man" I disagree. Really Mike Macdonald and Brian Flores have been leading the charge in countering Shanahan's system. The best thing they've been doing is running hot quarters, which is kind of like Cover 0 with more rules. In the second clip that I show of the run defense, that's what the hawks are running on the backend. It keeps a roof over any deeper play action and disrupts those intermediate windows while having enough guys in the box to stop the run and get after Brock. End of the day, not every team can run that. It requires a lot from your communication in the secondary and syncing up the blitzes with all of the shifts and motions. The 49ers are still a great offense but guys like Flores and Macdonald have really done a good job of understanding the few things Shanahan has built his scheme on and attacking that. As always it's cool to see 49ers fans here and please let me know your thoughts!

What? Brock Purdy had clean pockets and I'm educated enough to see that pass protection isn't the core issue for the 49ers; Jennings covered several 3rd & 11s that game. Being held to 17 points is more than just injuries, especially in a league when seemingly all teams are handicapped with injuries. Yes, one player can absolutely make a difference. Ernest Jones is definitely impactful and Witherspoon is a swiss army knife for the Hawks. It's honestly concerning of how many people do not study the core fundamentals of this game; instead, just trying to find someone to blame for their entire loss.
