Ted is great. He should have his own RUclips channel. 49ers have the dumbest fan base. Imagine wanting to fire Kyle Shanahan and thinking you'd be able to upgrade from him LMAO.

.552 win percentage ranked #13 among active coaches. Even lame duck Dallas coach has a higher win %.

@StandingFirmAlways 😂😂😂 do you not apply critical thinking skills when you consider stats? Take a sec to think critically about what you stated......that Shanahan stinks because of his win %, not even taking into consideration the bad years from injury or the fact that we've been to how many super bowls since Shanahan started.

    • @StandingFirmAlways

@jtbtdlkt2012 All coaches go through it. Excuses. Never bought into the "genius" crap just bc someone said so. Show me. Without a doubt, one of the most loaded rosters the NFL has seen the past 5 yrs. How do you explain losing myriad games after going into the 4th qtr leading? He continually gets outcoached. Keeps trying to fool defenses when it's not needed. Doesn't believe in OL upgrades, never takes accountability, makes excuses, and scapegoats others. Who passes on 2nd & 1? Gets pass happy in the shortened field of the redzone, even without George? Gives our leading rusher, who was leading the league, 3 carries in the last 2 games? Genius. He never sticks with what works, choosing to try some stupid crap that never works and acts like it's always something or somebody else. He's the HC. He's ultimately responsible for whatever happens with the team. Penalties? Undisciplined. Who's fault? 17 measly pts. NO EXCUSES! Where's this "genius" crap? I don't see it. We're 5-5, just like you envisioned, right? We're a paltry 5-5, .552 win %, just about par for him. He's trying subtly to scapegoat Brock now. It's sickening. More excuses?🤮....👇🏼

@StandingFirmAlways hey if you can't see it then you can't see it. There's a reason that his coaching tree reaches throughout the NFL and that his system also permeates throughout the league. I'll grant that he set himself up for a rough year when they didn't get a quality RT and I don't think anybody expected Brendel to take such a massive dip in production. Is he a perfect coach, nope and I don't think there are any out there.
Not to the offensive, but maybe you'd have more joy being a chiefs fan. Shoot or even a Chargers fan since Harbaugh is doing things out there.
You all calling for a new coach are legit nuts dude; do you know how many teams would fire their current coach and swoop him up in a nano second!

  • @johnradzinski459

Ted is a smart guy and has a lot more analysis than two plays but the two featured here at 16:30 are 3rd and Long obvious pass situations where most teams would have issues converting regularly, regardless of blitz pickup. I’m sure Kyle would say “we have to execute better on 1st and 2nd and avoid penalties to back us up at inopportune times.”which is also true.
I think where teams have adjusted is:
    1. clamping down on crossing routes over the middle - evidence by the amount of deeper throws from purdy to the outside this season and explains some YAC shortage.
    2. Adjusting to the naked boot game. If you watch Seattle last week and Baltimore last year they checked to a nickel blitzing and as soon as purdy turned blindly the other way there was someone in his face.
If the Niners can execute the run better on 1st and 2nd and avoid penalties and make small changes to the boot game (fake toss, RPO, more glances, maybe built in some options for Brock to keep, more fly sweep action who can account for opposite side blitzes on run fakes etc) I feel like the Niners can stay out of those long distances.
I do feel like Kyle has some “break glass in emergency” plays that he keeps for high leverage games and doesn’t want to unveil until he has to, but he will have no option this week.
I still believe this team can make a run but times up.

Really well said from start to finish. At the end of the day, the fact that the 49ers have had leads in all these 4th quarter games, that to me shows that teams still struggle to defend their scheme. The difference is, this DL isnt nearly as good as it once was, and stopping teams in the 4th quarter is a HUGE issue (and HAS to be a point of emphasis this weekend). You could do a really nice job for 3.5 quarters, but if your DL depth and rush isnt strong at the end of the game, then you as a coordinator/staff need to adjust to that and manufacture more pressure, whether Bosa is on the field or not.
On offense, stop waiting for Deebo or CMC to save us, especially Deebo. Get creative with Pearsall (maybe Jauan throws Pearsall a TD on a flea flicker, Jauan was also a QB in college). Need to keep defenses as on their heels as possible, and it starts this Sunday

  • @AFLOVEable
    @AFLOVEable 12 дней назад +4

Yes, when CMC wasn't available, teams didn't shy away from playing man-coverage - and guess what? Mason ran rough-shot through them. And now, when Christian takes a break, they don't run at all.

Great thoughts. The hot throw is a problem. In the Seahawks game there were too many unblocked rushers. But on defense, the 49ers never have these open rushers forcing the QB. Never have creative blitzes. That’s one problem. The other problem is Kyle’s stagnant player rotations. CMC returns and he plays nearly every down, The 3rd leading rusher, Mason has 3 touches in last 2 games. Deebo keeps getting targets or runs and he isn’t producing. The best run from scrimmage by a WR is Peirsals end around. . Defenses are sitting close and not worried about downfield throws. Not only do the 49ers not get long plays, they aren’t even targeting deep throws. The 2 fastest players, Gurendo and Cowing are not even playing. While the league has figured Kyle out, Kyle is sticking to what’s not working. Every year the Chiefs lose a breakaway player, and then replace him with a new Hill, immediately. On the Chiefs, Guerendo and Cowing would be starters. The chiefs shut down 49ers with man to man, and since then the league has copied it. The Chiefs showed how to stop Deebo. Man to man. To focus on Kyle player misuse, just look at this, the most prolific players on offense this season, Mason and Jennings, only play when others are injured. New blood comes in and they aren’t utilized. Wasn’t this the case with Ayuk 4 years ago? The 49ers are 5-5, but the last 3 games of last year were terrible. They lost in SB but won the 2 playoff games on BP legs and his fire. The 49ers decided to stay put at the trade deadline. So in the last game Bosa plays more snaps than ever before. The way Warner is playing is hard to explain. I’m thinking he is tired of covering for the other LB Campbell. If the 49ers are gonna win, they need over 30 points. Here’s an idea. Have Piersal line up like at tight end. He’s tough and can block. Put Cowing and Guerindo as wideouts. I guarantee you, the defensive coordinator would not know what to do. DC’s have easy prep for 49ers. Same players, no surprises. Bench Deebo and Campbell. If I was DC for Green Bay, I’d blitz all the time and play bump n run on the receivers. If I was OC, I’d make 1/2 my targets on backs coming out of backfield. Lynch, you better hit on next years draft since you didn’t want to part with any day 3 picks to get better at OLine or DLine..

absolutely 1000% agree with what he's saying. And the thing is I've heard it mentioned 4,5,6 times even JT mentions it on his videos. Also for me another thing is not playing the young guys more. I feels he's too loyal or something. Issac was starting to come on, Jacob Cowan to me being the fastest guy on the team hasn't been implemented into the offense enough. Andy plays his young guys all the time. Also is more than one or 2 plays a game. Go watch JT videos. he always points it out. I digress.

Great video. To me, it seems like the o-line messing up is causing the hot reads to fail. Not the fact that Kyle is using hot reads to deal with pressure. It appears that d coordinators have realized that all they have to do is disguise their rush, stack one side, perhaps throw a stunt in there, and our o-line gets confused. Purdy is then dealing with instant pressure causing mis-throws or desperate short throws. Often, in the examples given, the Niners have an equal number of blockers to the rushers, but the stunts, stacked sides, cause the o line to trip up, or hold. It may be talent, but it seems more like scheme problems for the o-line.

Jake is a terrible C. Seriously need to replace him. He's bad as a blocker and clearly isn't capable of adjusting protection which is what Kyle requires. Sounds like his system requires an all pro center to actually work.

I never played nor coached football. There is an an appropriate expression that applies here. “Adapt or die.” From my limited perspective Kyle has not adapted. The team can not regularly loose leads at the end of games if the offense is not adapting.
Lastly, I notice that he never says that he made a mistake or is at fault. Stubbornness is not an admirable trait. Again, “adapt or die.”

    • @crystalballers

As numerous coaches are now running their offense bases upon Lyle’s system they now understand how to defense it. He has an undistinguished record in loosing games in the fourth quarter. That can not be ignored. We have been spoiled in the past few years!! I am not part of the crowd calling for him to be fired. He would be snapped up in 24 to 48 hours!

After last year’s SuperBowl loss, Kyle joined illustrious company as the 5th Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator to lose 3 superbowls. Truly one of the coaches of all time.
Nguyen is not a beat writer, he’s an NFL staff writer for the Athletic. Not to discredit him, but he’s not in the room asking questions to these coaches and players, and doesn’t have all the information to judge wether or not Kyle is still a good fit for the Niners. Sure he knows the Xs and Os, but he doesn’t know if Kyle still has the locker room. To say that Kyle should keep his job because he just needs to make some offensive adjustments is dismissive of every other aspect of being a Head Coach. Does this not allude to the exact criticism that Kyle is just a glorified OC? Because ya’ll are certainly talking about him like he is.

Saying, "This philosophy works," is flat out wrong. It WORKED. It clearly is not "working" now. Defensive coordinators are adapting and the proof is in the performance of the 49rs and their record.
If it is an execution issue, coaches need to demand and train to excellence. If the team can longer perform to this philosophy, change your playcalling.
Either way, the philosophy is not "working" this season.
