It should be a rule of narration not to switch narrators in the middle of a sentence.
Cool video though, explains a lot about how their camouflage works.

Cephalopods use this for communication as well. Their change in texture, color, and shape are essentially equivalent to human facial expressions and speech

we did a study on Camouflage back in 1998, as part of a NATO workgroup on survivability, i.e. on active camouflage.
Not sure if the material has been declassified yet, but there was a study (provided by the Israelian member of the group) that addressed patterns for camouflage in the visible spectrum.
You may want to reach out there, as it will give you a number of answers w.r.t. the camouflage patterns in the visible light spectrum.
    Good luck.

in that octopus clip, yes its camouflage, but octopus and cuttlefish also use it to a lesser extent for communication, squid on the other hand it is majorly communication as they cannot change their colors as well as octopi or cuttlefish so they cant "blend in" to their surroundings as easy, but squid are also much faster moving than Octopi and Cuttlefish so they have, practically underwater missiles, so they have a large speed advantage to outswim their predators

Thank you so much for sharing this. I love octopuses, definitely the most interesting animals in this world, as close to aliens as possible

what on earth are you talking about? BTW, the 1st creature shown is not a cuttlefish, but an octopus. The original video of this was from NPR's Science Friday: "Where's the Octopus?" youtube video.

    its both
squid cant really camouflage all that well but use their abilities of color change for communication
cuttlefish and octopi use it primarily for camouflage but also communication, tho communication is more what Cuttlefish do than Octopi, but both of them rely on it as camouflage to survive, to predators they are a non-dangerous tasty chunk of protein if they can be found and if they are found they will attempt to be eat them

An interesting anomaly, like jelly fish, they have no brain that see as such but behave as If they do, is there more than one kind of brain, more ways of perceiving colour than through sight , an octopus has 3 hearts and 9 brains, on of the most interesting creatures on the planet , but unfortunately a very short life span for such a sentient creature
