      Ask them for free all the sauces the store would have for salgado. Ask them garlic sauce(my favorite), pepper, ketchup, shoyo and so on to a complete experience. All good store has at least garlic sauce for free but you have to ask ok.

      Garlic sauce= molho de alho (portuguese). Like you both did with the pepper sauce we always eat salgado with many types of sauces.

      Try 'rissole de camarão' (shrimp rissole). Try 'bolinho de bacalhau' again but put some olive oil on top.

    I'm from Rio but I strongly recommend you to visit Minas Gerais state where the food is fantastic. That's where Pão de Queijo is from.
    If you go there don't miss Feijão Tropeiro, Arroz com Pequi, the many varieties of local cheese, specially those from the Canastra and Serro regions.
    Minas is famous for it's dairy products and also for the local cachaças.
    Try sweet desserts like Doce de Leite and Goiabada. You can find these in SP as well in restaurants or even in supermarkets but the home made ones in MG are outstanding.
    The capital Belo Horizonte (BH) has a strong bar/boteco culture.
    Enjoy your stay.

      Tropeiro, suã com arroz, frango ao molho pardo, bambá de couve, fubá suado, vaca atolada, pastel de angú, ora pro nobis com angú, canjiquinha com costelinha, doce de leite, doce de mamão verde, pão de queijo original. A culinária mineira é muito rica 🔺🧀🏞️

      I was about to comment exactly that. Minas Gerais is the best place for meal in Brasil. I really love the food from all the states here but you just can't compete. I'm from SP but Minas Gerais is in my heart

    You were correct, both Kibe and Esfirra has a lebanese influence. In fact, Brasil has more Lebasenes living in Brasil than in Lebanon

      Wait untill we arrest the communist mafia or next time he comes his house will be confiscated by the state parasites. Also, renting is cheaper I guess, for little use. Brazil is a great country if you're a digital nomad with internationalized income, but too unstable for long term plans.

    Hi, guys.
    Coxinha means literally little thigh (coxa = thigh). The teardrop shape is supposed to resemble a chicken thigh or leg, just like the real chicken leg you had.
    Don't miss the pronunciation: co-shin-ya.
    The cigar shaped salgado is called croquete.
    Pastel may come with a variety of fillings: minced meat, cheese, shrimp, palmito, etc.
    Kibe is one of my favorite lebanese/syrian food. My grandparents came from Syria and my grandmother used to make a lot of kibe. But her kibes were hollow so it got really crispy when fried.
    You had fried kibe but there are other types of kibe: baked or oven kibe (usually served on a tray sliced in cubes) and also raw or uncooked kibe (kibe cru) wich I particularly like very much.

      Yup, literally coxinha is so called chicken drumstick and kibe minced beef filling you can add lemon as you prefer. Folks, I advice to head to Benjamin Abrahão bakery croissant de frango right at Rua Maranhão St.

    Great that you are enjoying "salgados". I'm a Brazilian living in Toronto and there was a time that I missed salgados, but now I'm too lazy to make them.
    Irony is that my family has a "pastelaria" in Sao Paulo, in business for more than 50 years. Many people tell me to open one here in Toronto. 😅 They have pasteis, coxinha, empadinha, esfiha, kibe, bolinho de bacalhau...... even pizza.
    Fun side story, one day my mother ate 7 "kibes" in one sitting at our store and soon after she found out she was pregnant with me. 😂 (I miss her, she passed away in 2020).

    You guys have to go to Padaria Real, in Pinheiros, to try the coxinhas. It’s originally a bakery from Sorocaba (city about 100km from São Paulo), and it’s the best coxinha you’ll ever have. Also, they have a bunch of different flavors, not only chicken! :)

    Morando no Canadá (em Québec) eu sinto muita falta desses salgados que vcs experimentaram, principalmente a coxinha da padaria Real, e os cachorro quente de rua do estado de são paulo. A pizza brasileira também faz muita falta 😢

    28:34 actually we do say beer bottle, the "long necks" are just these smaller ones. 600ml and 1l ones are in fact called "garrafas" (bottles), we also call the 1l one "litrão" (big litter).

    It makes me really happy seen turist enjoying Brazil like that, hope you guys enjoy your trip. A place I recomend is a restaurant called Pasteko, they sell some of the best pastels ever and they are filled all the way, not just the middle part. It's located on Vila Yara near the frontier between São Paulo city and Osasco city.

    As a brazilian living abroad, one of the things I miss the most and that I remembered with your video is how everywhere in Brazil there is music! This is so beautiful. There is no silence, you can go to the emptiest establishment and there will be a radio on. I miss this so much... Enjoy my amazing country

      Here in Florida there's always music in any place I enter.. but good American music that I love to hear!

    I am brazilian and I lived in Toronto for a while. I actually found a place there that sells coxinha and I really enjoyed it because I missed brazilian salgados a lot at that time.
    Now, I am back in Brazil and I really miss Timbits. :)

    Hey, you NEED to go to Brasserie Victória ( Av. Pres. Juscelino Kubitschek, 545 - Itaim Bibi ) and ask for "esfiha de mussarela fechada", this is unique! I live in Rio but every time I go to São Paulo I go there. Simply AMAZING! Kibe there it's also unique. Everything there is great! You should try this before leave SP. Cheers from Rio!

    Not fair! Hard to watch this video being away from Brazil! If you haven't tried it yet, Calabresa + Catupiry pizza is a must. I could easily eat pastels every day too, Steve! Also obsessed with risolis! I'm honored you guys tried your first coxinhas with me. :-))) So funny how you guys always end up at Estadão hahaha. You can also get coxinhas with catupiry cheese in some spots. i basically won't rest until you guys try catupiry haha. Cheers!

    I miss a lot of Brazilian foods, but I think what I miss the most is acarajé. It is part of our African rooted dishes, and definitely not all Brazilians enjoy it. But for me, it tastes like home.

    Hello, practically 95% of the places also have pepper sauce and other flavors for free, just like the Estadão restaurant that you liked. However, not everyone comes to the table, you have to ask the waitress or attendant to bring them.

    It's funny to see Pastel da Mi in your video because I always order on the app therefore didn't know where it was. Their pastel is pretty good for the price! My favorite so far in São Paulo.

    só o pastel que precisava ser acompanhado pelo caldo de cana, é de lei para brasileiro
    sobre o pastel eu vi em algum lugar que os imigrantes japoneses inventaram o pastel mesmo, eles queriam fazer uma comida do Japão mas não queriam ser identificados, aí fizeram o pastel que era parecido.

    I’m from São Paulo but live in Israel for more than 15 years. I miss a lot pão de queijo and coxinha (xi = shee). Whenever I go to Brasil I eat them almost everyday. Btw, I’m going there now in the end of November. Can’t wait for pão de queijo and coxinha!

    Hey guys. So, I don't know if you remember but on the last live you were talking about how to pronounce "julio". I was thinking about the equivalent Brazilian Portuguese sound of the letter J and I finally discovered it haha it's the sound of the letter S in "vision". That is always our J sound hehe. Cheers

    I live in Belgium and what I most miss is Pastel, I can find most of the Brazilian food (those that you ate in São Paulo) in Belgium in Brazilian markets, or similar places. But Pastel I never found here. To be honest I found it once, but it was not good at all.
    And there are several "Salgados" that are similar from other cultures that I can find here.

      Cê pode fazer pastel com massa fresca de lasanha... não fica as bolhinhas da massa de pastel, mas o gosto fica bem bom.
      Ou então pode pegar a receita da massa de feira na internet e fazer, é bem simples e provavelmente acha tudo ai, menos a cachaça que pode substituir por rum ou não usar pq é opcional.

    I'm brazilian living in Japan. The food I miss the most is churrasco (barbecue). I miss rice, beans, steak and french fries (most common lunch in Brazil - arroz, feijão, bife e batata frita!) I love pão de queijo (I'm "mineiro" - from Minas Gerais), but I found them here in Japan. My favorite is "cigarrete" (you can only find them in Minas). Ivana nailed it: pastel is better with pepper sauce! Best coxinha has "catupiry" inside (so, ask for coxinha with catupiry). And kibe should be eaten with lemon (it's the best experience)! Love you guys!

    Pastel was brought by the Chinese, they had to adapt the spring roll recipe with the ingredients available here and kind of making it like a deep fried Japanese a Gyoza or Jiaozi.
    I remember when I was a kid all the pastelarias (pastel houses) we’re owned by Chinese Brazilians.
    I guess the food we miss the most is our rice, beans and meat. That’s what we call real food, all the rest are snacks.

I'm originally from the Northwest, a city called Recife (known as "the brazilian venice" because of the gorgeous bridges and rivers, very tropical with a swamp and huge beautiful beaches, if you go there someday just be careful with the shark season lmao a lot of tourists lose a leg or arm), i moved to São Paulo last week and i love this place! The weather is way colder and there's a lot of stuff to do! My jam is the goth nightclubs, there's a LOT of them! Anyway, welcome and you got a new sub! 🖤

    Hi guys. This is Adriano, a Brazilian residing in the UK. I was born and raised in Sao Paulo and love it. I enjoy every moment I spend in the city which is vibrant and brilliant. My Brazilian mates keep telling me to be careful, watch out cuz wandering around with cameras and phone is unsafe. I always just ignore them, and let myself go with it. I walk down to Copan and have the best coffee and chocolate and coconut cake at Floresta café. Walk back up via Rua Augusta checking the shops, galleries, and bars. I just love Sao Paulo. Enjoy it.     Hey guys, greetings from Brazil again! Coxinha batter is made of flour cooked with chicken stock. Bolinho de Bacalhau, the batter is made with smashed potato and shred cod fish. Pão de Queijo, is made with fermented yuka flour with variety of cheeses. By the way, at Estadão, you can buy the chilli oil 😋

    Kibe is not my favorite salgado by a longshot, but it is particularly good if you squeeze a lemon on it, and/or put some good quality brown mustard on it.
    Now, the croquete de carne, OMG! It is definitely on my top 5, specially because it is a little spicey. It's 3 AM and I'm hungry~ lol

    You guys should visit Gramado - RS since you are in Brazil, it's really beautifull this time of the year with all the christmas decorations. Might be a little crowded but it is worth it.

    14:56 we call it croquete, and the other one Ivana got right! It's risole (Now I noticed she recognized the croquete in the end of the video hehe)
    There is one salgado that is from my region, it's bolinho de frango, and it uses a different flour and looks a lot like the bolinho de bacalhau (Itapetininga, Sorocaba and region, countryside cities of Sao Paulo state) :) I'm sure there are other 'special' salgados around the Sao Paulo state, and other places around Brazil too, there are many I still don't know
    I got a friend that lives in Toronto and she missed a lot the pao de queijo, but she found a portuguese market that sells a lot of brazillian frozen food

    Im so glad u guys had a blast with our salgados in sao paulo!! i strongly recommend u guys try the coxinha from a place called Veloso, its the best coxinha in sao paulo!! Also, the Kibe is better to eat with lemon, you squeeze the lemon juice inside the kibe, to make it less dry and add another layer of taste!!
    Also, you guys need to try the brazilian hot dogs! u guys will be amazed by our version of that!

    Hi guys, just a tip when you are going to eat pastel again, to avoid burning the mouth, open a small hole in the corners before biting into the pastel. Inside the pastel there is hot steam, specially the freshly fried ones.

    I am living in Tokyo for more than 30 years and the last time I went to Brazil was 7 years ago... You guys are almost convincing me to take a 25 hours flight back to my hometown SP... BTW besides pastel which you can find in many countries with the name tcheburiek, I miss mostly bolinho the bacalhau; but also Brazilian tropical fruits (fruta do conde) and Brazilian (not sweet) corn... pinhão if possible...

    Hey Guys! Love watching the videos. I have been living abroad for so long and seen you guys enjoy my city warms my heart. São Paulo is gigantic, since you guys are in the main city and love to eat, one neighbourhood in São Paulo called Bixiga has several Italian restaurants, super Italian influenced but the restaurants there have a Rodizio of pastas. Yes, like brazilian BBQ restaurant, the italian version will serve several different kinds of pasta until u can’t take it anymore, Cantina 14 de Julho, is one, Cantina do Julio is another, there are a couple. Could be a different foodie experience for your videos in São Paulo!

Pão de Queijo is hard to find outside of Brazil because one of its base ingredients is rare outside of Brazil: "polvilho doce", also known as "fécula de mandioca" (cassava starch powder)

    Uma coisa que sempre da certo na cidade que estiver é procurar na parte mais rica da cidade as padarias mais movimentadas, tirando o tradicional ou especialidades de outros locais, vai ter os melhores recheios e massas.
    O Brasil teve muita imigração nos ultimos 2 seculos de todo o mundo, não só da europa, tem comida do mundo todo como influencia, algumas no país todo como portuguesa, italiana, espanhola, japonesa, do oriente médio principalmente líbano e siria, russa, africana de vários países com fala portuguesa mas a maioria de angola, essas são as que vai ser comum encontrar já enraizado.

      i used to eat lotta hamburguers in Brazil, and I don't think American hamburguers taste as good. maybe this, yeah. Pizza would be another one. I also used to love eating linguiça de frango for lunch, but here it's not very common

      oh shit, for breakfast, i used to love eating pão francês with requeijão cremoso. Maybe they sell this here, but I haven't found yet where I live. Cream cheese is kinda easy to find, but texture-wise is a bit different, it's most solid
