I’ve been debating if I am going to take the plunge with this bad boy for months. Your beautiful tutorial sealed the deal. Also, unintentional ASMR delivered 👏🏼
Blueprint DIY sat this model next to the previous D and she literally sewed through 6 layers of bluejean material with the DX and 8 layers with the D model. I found my DX used on Marketplace for $75? Over a year ago and just took it out after watching threading videos. Dang thing looked brand new and sews awesome! After watching multiple threading videos i knew exactly how to thread it after being scared of it for a year 😂
Thank you. Your explanation was so thorough for a beginner like me! I've had my serger for over a year, and I've been afraid to use it. But, after viewing your video much of the fear has been diminished. Thanks.
I just started sewing in 2021, on a 20 year old Elna sewing machine. Within only 3 months, I knew I'd have to get a serger because I am drawn to all the soft knit fabrics. I bought the Brother 1034D and had it out of the box and threaded within 45 minutes of having it home! I absolutely LOVE it and it definitely makes it easier to sew seams on all the soft, stretchy fabrics I like to wear. I was so pleased with it that I ended up buying a Brother Coverstitch machine 2 months after getting this, to make more professional hems on tee shirts and skirts. Great job with all your explanations!❤
Just wanted to leave this quick comment that I hadn't used my serger in a couple months, had to rethread it and reset everything, this video was extremely helpful!! - from a very appreciative subscriber 😊🙏
Love to how to use deferential feeds & side settings. I’m so glad I came across your page. I really appreciate and enjoy your speaking. It’s just perfect for me. Not too fast not too slow. It’s just your timing is so wonderful.
Thank you so much! This is super helpful! I have the same serger and it has been sitting in the box for over a year, because I wasn't comfortable using it without messing it up or breaking it. This video is so detailed and gave me the confidence to want to use it. 😅
Thank you for this tutorial. I had been wanting a serger and my friend found this one for me at a garage sale for $25 brand new! I have been hesitant to use it, but your tutorial is very good on getting me started. :)
I have just got this machine, the paper instructions and pictures that come with the machine are terrible so thanks a lot for making this so easy!!!!!! 😃
My serger ran out of thread 10 years ago and so I just put it away and learned how to do beautiful felled and french seams 😂. I'm annoyed with myself for taking as long as I did to re-learn how to thread my overlock, but I'm grateful to you for making it so easy! Thank you so much!
I have the Brother 7344DS and I have to thread all the looper threads from right to left (8 before7) which is interesting. But my machine is more basic. I change the thread colour for almost every garment. The more often I change it the quicker it becomes. Useful video though. Thank you. Lynne
Thank you so much for this video . I have been going back and forth about purchasing a serger given what I've heard about threading them, and you have made it seem a bit less intimidating. Love all of your videos!
Thank you. I just bought the same Serger and I was getting scared of using it. You explained it so well, I don't think I will have to much problems getting it going.
Thank you! I think you covered all well and thank you for answering the sew first then serge.... I had that questions in mind and couldn't find the answer.
thanks!! Super thorough video. I've been thinking about investing in a serger...I'm pretty bad at finishing seams with my regular machine lol french seams are fine but I'm also thinking about sewing swimwear for my daughter and a serger sounds much better to do just that. And this video kind of reinforces that maybe I should get one😅
I’m glad to hear it was helpful for you, Francisca! I do think if you want to sew swimwear that a serger is 100% the way to go! Also… how cool you’re going to sew swimwear with your daughter. I love that❤
Thank you; very informative. I was just gifted a used 1034D and have never used it. The person that gave me the surger said something minor was wrong with it, so I have no idea what to do. I had to download the user manual and also I do know the thread tree is broken in half and needs replacing. I am an absolute beginner, so plan to follow your instructions.
This video came along at just the right time, I've been looking at sergers for a couple of months now. I'm especially interested in the Brother 1034D, but I do have a question, how does this machine work on polar fleece?
Great video!. Bt Ihave a question about the needles. Do you know if this serger take a different size needle than a regular sewing machine? I have a lot of different sizes for my BabyLock machines, so hoping I don't have to purchase different ones. But will if needed.
Im trying to make bandanas for dogs and napkins. Items that must have a finished look but I cannot get it bc it seems a little messy with little fabrica balls here and there? Any setting your recommended?? Help! ❤
Hi Courtney, thank you so much for your helpful, informative videos. I'm 63 and have been sewing off and on since I was a teenager. But never on a regular basis. Your videos are inspiring me to do more! I came across a barely used, Brother 1034d, for a steal and decided to go for it. Would you be able to go over which type of thread is best to use? It's an investment buying the large spools and a big difference in price between polyester thread or cotton thread. I know about using cotton thread with heat sensitive projects but for clothing would a polyester thread (cheaper) work with a cotton dress? Thx again for any help or advice!!!
Hi GiGi! How fun that you found a serger and went for it! It is an investment for the larger spools, thankfully they last so long! I use 100% polyester and use it on every type of fabric (cotton, linen, etc). It washes great and lasts!
This is helpful, but I just got a Brother 1034D and it looks like they have changed the threading order-- now it just goes from right to left. I followed your instructions and got no looping ... followed the order in the manual and it worked. So, just a caution. Thanks for the confidence-building tho!
Ah, it is the 1034DX,@@RooneySewingPatterns ! I assumed the two were the same. I'm glad the directions will still work for the D model. Hope this exchange is helpful to others!
I just got my new surgery and I ran into your video on how to set it up. You did an amazing job explaining detail per detail thank you so much.
This is the best explanation for a beginner
I’ve been debating if I am going to take the plunge with this bad boy for months. Your beautiful tutorial sealed the deal. Also, unintentional ASMR delivered 👏🏼
happy to hear this helped encourage you to take the plunge! Its a wonderful tool to have :)
Use this video every time I thread my serger! I cannot thank you enough.
That makes me so happy to hear! :)

You are kind, thank you Novene!

Happy to hear you brought your serger back out! All the luck to you :)
Excellent video. Thorough & very helpful. I sew more than 60 dresses a year for girls in third countries and have been considering this serger.
Practicing with the knife down is a great idea that's going to help me lose my fear of my serger. Thanks!
@@nuriagiralt617 so glad that was helpful! It’s so nice to be able to put the knife down :)

Great tutorial! To keep machines running at their best remember to clean regularly. ❤
Thanks for the reminder :)
Thank you so much for guiding me thru on how to use and thread the 1034d . You are so helpful and comforting to watch.

My grandmother just gave me her bernette 234 and I should have listened to this advice before taking it straight to my Betty dress 😆 lesson learned!
Thank you so much for the helpful video! I had to thread the machine and learn the basics. This was a great getting started video
This was SO HELPFUL!! THANK YOU!!

I’m glad I could walk you through it! The good thing is there’s always a video tutorial to refer back to if threading gets difficult ❤
Absolutely!
Thank you. I just bought the same Serger and I was getting scared of using it. You explained it so well, I don't think I will have to much problems getting it going.
I'm so happy this was helpful for you! I understand that it can feel daunting but once you get going, it's really quite fun and exciting to use!
I’m thinking of buying a serger. And this is very helpful. Thank you 😊
I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you for sharing ❤
I’m gonna set mine up I think with your help 😅 I can do it thank you. 😅
You can do this :)
This was great. I have had mine sitting new in the box and have been trying to get up my nerve 😂
Thanks for your instruction on Serger machine
Thank you! I think you covered all well and thank you for answering the sew first then serge.... I had that questions in mind and couldn't find the answer.
1 havethe brother 1634dx but this was still helpful. I am very new to sergers

I'd like to know this too
I loved this tutorial.
I want to know if you have a demo on how to do corners on the serger. Also how to serge an A line skirt with pockets.
Best tutorial, thank you!
So glad it was helpful :)

The hand book mentions 1 needle or two needle model. How do you see which you have?
thank you so much i am lean lot today watch you video thanks again😊
This was so helpful! I just purchased this machine I’m so excited to use it. Do you change your setting when you serger knits vs woven?
Yay! That is exciting, Christin! Usually, I use the little knob on the side to adjust towards a knit fabric.
Great vid. ☺️

@@RooneySewingPatterns Thank you so much for the quick and helpful reply 💕
Great information! Also, do you sell the pattern for the top you’re wearing in this video? Thank you so much
Thank you Nancy! The top I'm wearing is a sweatshirt from a local boutique :)
Wonderful video. I wish you had an affiliate link for the thread, too! Thanks!
Well thank you! I added one in the description with the thread I use :)
Can you serge over the line of your prior seam?
Omg!!! Thank you for this tutorial-I was having a hard time threading mine-😂😊🪶🪶thank you!
I'm glad to hear it was timely!
Lovely tutorial. Does this machine sew a rolled hem or narrow hem using one needle ??
That's a great question! I actually need to look into this.
Thank you. 😼

I just got a serger and one thing that's confusing to me is where to line up the fabric and how do I know how much it will cut off
What’s the difference from a suger and sewing machine?
Super helpful. Tysm!
Excellent thank you
I’m curious what thread color is in the video
I broke the left needle, what size needle do I use
Hi Mary! A broken needle is so frustrating, I'm sorry! The standard needle for this machine is 130/705 H size.
These needles are the size: amzn.to/474iANO
Help, what size needle
If i turn the wheel backwards what happens?
"Unbox With Kids" channel is an excellent tutorial on threading brother serger. This one's not quite right.
OMG...hair
