Wow, this is really really nice! I'm very impressed, looks fun! I like how they take time and care into replacing the sleepers every 10 - 25 years. I would like to visit here. Graham Alexander left behind a fun and awesome legacy...
Ahh so I've found your channel!😂 Absolutely fantastic video, there's been a few done on and about this railway and I have to admit this is my favourite now, a perfect mix of passing shots and loads of info, history, how the railway is run and the technical side. I learned a few things myself actually, and I've been a frequent volunteer for 4 years 😂 Excellent video, and lovely to see you filming the other day! Mike - RLR PW team
Cheers Mike, really glad you enjoyed it, Murray has offered to invite me back in the future so hopefully a return is on the cards, I had such a good day walking the length of the track a few times filming! All the best
Hey Ollie, Ahh really enjoyed that a superb video. Been looking forward to using the emojis great fun :) :) :) You and Tian make a great team. Thanks again Ollie take care and stay safe.
Pulls all 18 carriages its really powerful. Surely he has tried pushing them? I pushed an entire narrow gauge train full of people with one foot! Thats the beauty of rail!. You only need about 1hp per ton!
Very informative video on the UK's biggest gauge railway, but, l would have loved to have seen a video with a lot more riding on the train around this beautiful garden! Informative and great video here! Thank you!!🚂🚊👏🤩💯
Thankyou sir❤️. Thankyou for introduced of this Beautifull and amazing tiny Railway park. I Like to it. Very Excellent surprise. I am waiting for your same videos in next 💚
That paint scheme of loco Graham Alexander resembles that of Portuguese Railways diesels from the 1960´s on, except for that thin red line on the white stripe running the length of the loco, and the full red "skirt"...the buffer beams were also red. Check the batch of 50 1370 HP BoBo´s buil by English Electric in the early 60´s, suplemented by another 20 built "in house"...
Love this scale of train where you can sit inside. Do you have any replicas of standard gauge trains? A class 08 or 45 or something. If I won the lottery I'd definitely have a couple 😂
Right! Quick onto Google Maps! I had heard of this railway, never knew it was 12" though. And now I want to know where in Ruislip it is, so I can visit.
Hello sir, nice to meet you, greetings one step at a time, work as a worker at the Indonesian Railways, looking at the old video, very interested, if I may ask, is this locomotive made by yourself or is there a place to buy it?
It looks to be a very nice set-up with the prospect of a good day out. The carriages also seem a little more disabled-elderly friendly, being covered. With the 'tubs' or wagons there, why have a dog and bark y'self when it come to shifting anything like the ballast gravel, et.c. Nice one all at Wardle Road. Cheers Ollie.
@@79MBO That's even better, fantastic even! Thank you for that consideration and for pointing that out. My last trip on a 12" was hanging on to the front of the open 'saddle' type car with a foot sticking out wider than the drivers and my daughter securing me from the back, such as my disability allows. Fun as it was for me, it was a worry to the staff, which I fully understand. Cheers! [Edit: Last Sentence]
Those English Electric BoBo´s (Class 1400 of Portuguese Railways and a BR Class 20 derivative) were the all-time favourites of John Dowling, the bogie designer... in his own words, when questioned about the subject,,,
I was one of the society's founder members when the council handed the railway over. When we started the only building was a small brick structure that just about housed the only locomotive, No.3 'Robert' which was then powered by a Ford Crossflow petrol engine. It's good to see that it is flourishing. While we were erecting a larger shed around the existing one the dynamo control box on"Robert" failed. It was conveniently located under the hydraulic tank which meant it kept any rain off but was difficult to get at. When another member and I removed it with water dribbling down our necks from the slack bolt holes, took it to a Ford dealership and asked if they had one. When the salesman ask what it was off we replied almost in unison, "A railway locomotive". The salesman gave one of those "oh really" looks but found a suitable replacement.
The odd thing to me is how well the 12" gauge works here carrying passengers. It looks pretty safe and rides well. I'd have thought the popular 15" gauge would have been the absolute smallest for this, but no, though that does seem to be the smallest gauge used in the UK for actual rail services between various towns and villages, albeit mainly (though not entirely) used by tourists.
hello sir, nice to meet you, I also work on the Indonesian railways, I want to ask sir, do you assemble mini locomotives like this yourself or does someone sell them? I want to build my own railroad too
use work on that years ok helped build put off the extension to the back of the top car park field turntable used to be in the corner before it got extended again to just short off main entrance graham i think just been built they had raila robert class 52 western and the iso containters arrived while i was there which formed the carrige sheds so many memorys thanks
You can get microphones that record more sound from where there pointed too and much less from around them. I'd advise looking into this for recording in noisy environments. We want to hear you, not the extractor fan behind the camera.
Never been to that railway, one for the future. Is it me or does 12" gauge locos have an American look to them? Great video as ever ollie. Stay safe James
Sorry to sniff and sneer, but I don't do diesels as you know. The railway would only be on my list if they turned the diesels into sweet smelling steam engines.
Did they stop using the Christmas platform, when Santa died.? I remember when my dad told me. I was about 6yrs old.!😭!. I was devastated.!😭😭😭!. I think that's when I started being naughty ALL YEAR round, and not just from January through to October. Cos there was no longer any point, if I wasn't to be rewarded. Glad you like it!
I’d absolutely love something as large as this, but have no garden in which to put it at the moment.
Wow its narrow gauge but wide and hight train. I wonder if the train is strong enough if any huge wind blow it from the side
They are quite sturdy! Would take a lot to blow them over
No windows so all the wind would just go straight through the middle!
@@mikekirwan5326 makes sense too 👍
Nice to see Haste Hill Station Garden is still pretty much as we built it!

Absolutely amazing video oli really really enjoyed it, you should be proud
Very kind mate, really glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!

These Ride On Railroads that you have been showing on your channel are really great. I am looking forward to seeing more of these.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed!
Hi from Australia, that was really amazing to watch. Ruslip Lido is where they made the Titanic movie "A night to remember".
I love your yellow hopper wagons.

Another nice little video, I used to drive on the Barking Park Light Railway years ago :)
Glad you enjoyed mate!
Barking park railway has been opened again .I remember the orange and cream

Great Video ,must admit never heard of this railway Thanks for sharing !
It’s worth a visit!
I've been on that one and there a to scale solar system walk if you walk back with little pictures of the planets.
Interesting that you've mostly gone over to block token working instead of the old randa system developed from Ravensglass!
I went on this railway with since I was a little kid and I loved it to the beach 😃😃😃
Great Video Ollie. Hopefully next year I'll be able to visit the location and take a rid. Or at least add it to my bucket list
It’s great mate, really worth the visit and not expensive either!

How does this beautiful place keep the doors open?

So the RLR is bigger than the RH&DR?
RH&DR is 15” gauge so no the RLR is smaller
That was meant to be the other way round, oops

Very narrow for such a heavy railway… why was it built on 12“? Had more thought that 15“ is more suitable…(?)
