    Thank you for sharing your video, using dish washer detergent is something I definitely will try. Your Vanda collection is impressive, because I live in a cold climate I grow mine inside but I am not at all succesful with that.

    Yes my friend you were right Marie Young is a fantastic young woman in her garden is phenomenal very cool that you would give her a shout out! More info is always better and I have some time if you’re in the mood to change it up but Yep she’s definitely got it going on in her orchid kingdom that would be like a field trip or your yard looks amazing as well. However I have found out that between watching the two of y’all I have lost my entire mind and spent so much money on something I know nothing about but I’m convinced I could again all because I’ve had one little Phalanopis this growing in my tree and it’s the first and only time I’ve ever been able to get anything out of an orchid to bloom so if all else fails they’re all going in the tree

    It is time for you to become the "Blanca's Orchid Garden" of Central Florida. Blanca, from the Homestead/Redland area of South Florida, shows off her collection but more importantly takes us to all the local orchid nurseries/shows and interacts with the owners. Central Florida is your oyster!

    Excellent how to video! I just recently purchased that Ortho dial hose end sprayer and started using the Dyna Grow. Could you do a video on how you do your regular fertilizing routine, how often, etc? Do you ever include Cal Mag or Epson Salt?
    I agree, Maria Young’s videos have been very helpful! She is awesome.
    Thanks!

      Yes! I will do a video on regular fertilizer as well. Very similar just with a different combo. Thanks for the comments! :)

      Mainly Vandas oh and what about seaweed/kelp vs Superthrive vs Megathrive? And do you use Silica? ProtTek?
      Thanks!

    • @mainlyvandas214
      @mainlyvandas214  6 лет назад +1

      I rarely use superthrive/kelp. I have seen good results with just the use of Dyna Gro grow formula and there is also a Cal Mag formula as well. I will switch it up every once and a while just to "shock" the plants. Like eating a different food for them. Sometimes, you want fish instead of steak!
      I have never used Megathrive in my years of growing. I was told by a long time grower, that I can rush the growth on these plants and push them to death, or I can use just the recommended regular fertilizer and enjoy them for much much longer. I have heard good things about Megathrive, but I am still skeptical. Not enough info is out there in my opinion on its long term effects on the plants.
      I will do a video on my fertilizer routine soon. I have requests for quite a few things, so I should be busy!! Thanks!! @@gilgomez7848

    Oh, please if you can, a video or series about spraying our orchids for thrips, bugs, rot? I just found thrips on mine for the first time and super bummed and struggling to find good direction on this. Is there a monthly spray you use?
    Thanks again! Very helpful. Excellent explanation and video!

    • @mainlyvandas214
      @mainlyvandas214  6 лет назад

      I will do a video on this as well. no problem. in the meantime, you can purchase a product called Orthene for thrips. very inexpensive, yet powerful. be careful and wear a mask while spraying!! follow label instructions.

    Hello, beautiful plants.....
    I would like to ask:1) if there is a case
    the fertilizer to "burn" the flowers?
    2) by the amount of
    falling water on the crown
    there is no risk of crown rot?

    • @mainlyvandas214
      @mainlyvandas214  6 лет назад +4

      As long as you follow label instructions on how to fertilize, you will not burn the roots...these fertilizers are specifically made for orchids with that in mind.
      There is always a chance of crown rot or other fungus to creep up on your collection...safe bet is to have good air movement and a regular fungicide regiment. I will be making a video on fungicides later :).

    I have a question which I hope you will be able to guide me - I was given the Ortho Dial N Spray. I have about a dozen vandas -and I need to treat two I’m specific that has thrips so I’ll be treating all of them. However I’m not sure what to set the dial to if I’m using 1 tsp of orthene. Could you help me to calibrate? Thanks in advance.

    • @mainlyvandas214
      @mainlyvandas214  4 года назад +1

      Orthene is very strong, so basically what I do is dissolve the 1 tsp in about 2 cups of hot water and pour into the dial and spray and set sprayer to 1tsp. You can add the orthen solution to the sprayer along with the fertilizer if you wish to quote on quote kill two birds with one stone. If you have thrips present, pls spray your entire collection because more than likely they are on all plants. Repeat this spray method again in 2 weeks.. should be good for a few months after that. Let me know if any further questions.

      Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. Yes, I plan on treating all. Thanks again. I’ll keep you posted after I complete the follow up treatment in 2 weeks. Have a safe Labor Day weekend.

    Got my first vanda lord im struggling with vandas I think I found the spot now in the yard. Where it doesn't burn from too much sun. Well, will from not enough s7n But I lost half the roots. And I'm watering every day as soon as I get home because I can't really water in the morning. S because I need to be at work😅

    Hi, Appreciate video, just subscribed. I was very surprised by the usage of Dawn soap! But after seeing you do it, I'm like yeah!!! Fonna try that myself!
    Question: Would you apply the bloom booster solution demonstrated here to Dendrobiums just as to Vandas? Reason I ask is because I have the feeling that Den's are more sensitive to fertilizer than Vandas. BTW, love Maria Young's videos as well.

    • @mainlyvandas214
      @mainlyvandas214  4 года назад +1

      If you think it may be too much for dens, just turn down the dial a tad. All my dens get the same strength fert as my vandas. If you see burned root tips or the ends of leaves turning brown, you may have dispensed too much...

    I realize this is an old video... but wanted to ask your opinion of "Blossom Booster" 5-50-17 . I've used this on my Plumerias... too strong for Vanda's ?

    • @mainlyvandas214
      @mainlyvandas214  5 лет назад

      This one seems too high yes. It doesnt take much. A 10 30 10 or something similar works just fine. If you do use it, just dilute it well..half strength maybe.

    Wishful thinking? It has gotten back to hot and humid since Michael went by 😒 . They claim a "cold front" will come through late next week, I'm not holding my breath. 🙂
