YOU ARE THE GODDESS OF DIY AWESOME. I doodle, drool, barely write anything, half the time i rip the pages out (i'm a perfectionist and it's not really something to be proud of.) and i buy new ones. but i adore notebooks. clean ones. this is really really pretty
XP i know thats an old comment of your but no need to be ashamed of being a perfectionist davinci was one and most of the artists are perfectionist even i am i ruin almost 30% of my work because of it XD
it's alright :) I understood what you wanted to say nonetheless. It's amazing that the great Da Vinci managed to create beautiful art pieces despite the fact that he is a perfectionist. I, on the other hand, rip out the pages of my sketch books and notebooks. I'm scared to write on a journal for the fear of ruining it. It's really a hassle. It's really sad being a perfectionist.
After I watched a couple of your videos about book making, I made a sketchbook for my friend, but ended up using it myself because I love it so much lol My cover was a bit uneven and the paper I covered my board with got wrinkled and warped like you mentioned in this video, but I think my next try will turn out much better.
I like the methods you describe to complete this project, it has given me lots of ideas. I have decorated for these for some of my students (to encourage using them). What I describe takes little time, but does require sheets of wax paper while pressing to dry flat. I dilute elmers glue with water, and using a wide brush, glued various color comics to the entire cover and the spine. Overlapping each, using odd angles, just trying to make it fun, and wrapping over edges to the inside. I don't worry about the edges. The glue dries completely clear. I glued some six years ago, and they still look great. thanks - Scott
I've been expecting for such a video a while now! I totally love all your videos and your calming narrative voice! Keep up the wonderful work! By the way.... I followed exactly the same technique when decorating my spiral notebook's covers, a couple of weeks ago. I loosened the spiral, removed the covers and did exactly what's shown on your video. Even that multiple-cut-rounded-corner trick! It's all Déjà vu for me :P
To answer you're question, Redfox, a composition notebook are those books you see in stores, in the school supply section. The books say composition notebook on them. Basically, a book to write in, or compose thoughts, hence the name, composition notebook.
Love it. Going to try adding these to my soap recipe journal. FYI, I have been using my notebooks to make lists, journal, and give as gifts! Maybe you could do a video on upcycling an old hardback book. (my current challenge!)
This is great! I very much appreciate your tutorial! Could I ask you about the paper in the Tops composition notebook? Do you know if it comes in quad rule, and (most important!) how is the paper? Will it stand up to fountain pen ink? Do you think the ink would bleed through to the other side or is the paper strong enough to not 'ghost'? I am about to order 12 of these books on amazon, but do not want to be disappointed with the quality of the paper. It is great to know I can modify the flimsy cover! - roc
Translation for Adrienne below; "I am from Brazil and I LOVE your work and talent! You are incrediable!" Also, everything goes in mine. Doodles, notes, to do list, study notes, etc. Can you make one of these from scratch? Hows the bind done? It looks easy but I'm curious. Thanks.
I tried this DIY, and it was absolutely wonderful! Although, I would recommend using spray on adhesive instead of glue. It sticks better, and it is warp-free!
Hi I stumbled across your videos and started watching some i was wondering if you had any ideas as to how I could decorate my spiral bound pad. It currently is an ugly green with text advertising the pad. I am open to any ideas but only have very basic supplies to work with. Thanks for the help, I love you videos. Hannah x
I doodle all over everything. If I run out of space on the paper, it ends up on me. Great project, I've been meaning to get some new notebooks, this would be an awesome way to spruce them up. Thanks. : )
Wow this video is so cool. I can now make my notebooks look classier than ever! :D Great work!! Anyway, could you tell where can I get those chevron papers? I've been searching for it everywhere, and I get nothing.
I use composition notebooks for specific topics. I write fiction, so one book is to brainstorm and outline a novel, one is for character development, etc. I also have one just for my bookbinding notes as I learn, a book journal, and anything else that I'm studying gets its own notbook. How do I repair my composition notebook when the text block separates from the cover? I have older, filled composition notebooks that are falling apart and I want to keep them. Any suggestions?
Muito bom! Gosto muito de seus vídeos, embora eu seja brasileiro e não entendo muito o inglês, mas, alguns vídeos assisto legendado ^-^ . Continue com seus vídeos.
Translating...Very nice! I really like your videos, although I'm Brazilian and do not understand much English, but some videos I watch subtitled ^ - ^. Continue with your videos. ( I used Google translate ^-^ ).

+XxX_MLG_GMODplayer_321xXx Are you sure you're looking in the right places? Dollerama, Michaels, Walmart, Staples etc. Any place that sells a variety of types of paper should carry it.
metalangel12311 I live in WA not America XD, Big W doesn't sell them (surprisingly) I went to Kmart and such to look for it too but failed sadly. Thanks for trying to help though :)
What do I put in my journals? I have one called a Hobbies Journal. In it I put patterns for crochet and knitting and all sorts of other crafts. I also record books or movies I'm interested in. (I basically record anything I'm interested in.) I number the pages as I go and date each entry. If I want to find something quick I record what it is and the page number on the inside cover. I now have 6 volumes of Hobbies Journals and I do refer back to them.

That came out looking so professional and nice! I've thought to add fun paper to notebook covers but this really classes them up! Fantastic job.
This would make a cute journal! Journals are so expensive but this way you could make what ever you want!

What I do with my notebooks is make comic books based off on my favorite stories like the wizard of oz and beauty and the beast.
That's really smart, I might do that lol
This is really nice! Im wondering if it's possible with the spine included so the thickness of this spine is the same with the hard covers
Loving this, thanks for sharing :-)
That looks great!!! Thank you! :)
