We emigrated from the UK to Australia (Sunshine Coast) 7 years ago with 4 kids aged 3, 5, 7, 9 with 2 weeks to find schools, a car, a house etc. Never looked back. Love the Sunshine Coast and Aussie life. You'll love it
Just a reminder to use sunscreen when you go outside even this time of year, even on a cloudy day. You soft English skin will burn easily. Every Chemist shop has sunscreen cream. Never be afraid to ask if not sure when you buy your sunscreen. When you know what to get you can buy it in a supermarket. Take care Lex
@@IsabelleeDow well done. After a few years you won’t need to use it for short periods then you won’t need so strong a sunscreen. Remember you can still be burnt when it’s cloudy and temperature is mild. Can you swim? If you can’t you should learn. Take care Lex.
I'm a pom from way back, I've been here in OZ for almost 40 years, more good things will happen to you than bad things, it is an amazing country, you will be home sick but push on through and it does get better, I hope that everything works out for you and you have a great life here.
Wowie you must absolutely love it here! Thank you so much for the kind and encouraging words - I’m absolutely loving it here so far and hope you can join along on here for the journey :))
@@IsabelleeDow I've been here since 1986, I've never been back to England, my back ground I think is much different from yours, but we are still both a long way from that other world, Australia is a great place and yes I do love it here.
@@IsabelleeDow I moved my family up to the sunny coast a few years ago and love it up here. I dont even own a Jacket or an Ice scraper anymore! You headed to Noosa? Find a job yet?
So glad to hear you’re loving it also! I do have a jacket on the way for the nipper evenings we’re having/visiting south - Noosa is where I’m settling for now, no luck with a job yet but hoping to land something soon!

Isabelle … Firstly welcome to Oz. You will love it here and while the Sunshine Coast can be very touristy you’ll be fine. Good luck on finding a job and live, laugh and love your time here. 😎
Welcome to the land downuder, Kiddo! Loved this video. My family are Scottish (don't hate) but I'm the first born in Oz. You're going to love this place! As others have said...hats, sunscreen, longsleeves when outdoors. Don't drink VB. DONT put sauce on our meat pies. Yes, you can ride Kangaroos. No, you can't cuddle Koalas. Keep posting your journey. I'm sure your parents are super proud.
Thank you so much for your kind words (no hate to the Scottish you have fab accents!). Appreciate the list of dos and dont's :) (after seeing a Koala irl, I'm now terrified to cuddle one) And even got confirmation from the woman herself haha - thank you again :)
when you go to Sydney catch a train to cronulla Beach shits on Bondi then catch a ferry to bundeena witch is in the national park many great bush walks and go to jibbing beach in bundeena
Welcome to Australia!!! Yes it’s a long way, but so worth it 😃 Have fun figuring out the Aussie accents and slang 😆😎☀️ Not sure if you’ve arrived on the sunny coast yet. But today (Sunday) is pretty perfect for a beach walk 😎☀️🌊
Thank you so much! Absolutely has been worth the journey and am absolutely obsessed with the accent here! Funnily enough I have just come back from a few hours of hiking and beach time :) so have been enjoying all the sunshine today now the clouds have disappeared! Hope you’re enjoy the the sun also :)
If your a frequent flyer, I would recommend premium travel with the extras so your really comfortable because of your constant movement, depending on affordability of course, but if your not flying often, like a one off, I wouldn't necessarily think it should be that important. It's totally up to the individual of course and affordability. But it's all part of the adventure and experience either way. I'd be just satisfied I'm finally travelling and on my way. There's always excitement and a bit of nerves, but that's everyone I guess. We are all only human. It's great to see that you're on your way. Congratulations, and well done. A new life and adventure awaits. I'm so happy for you. Take care, and I'll see you on the next post. Awesome 👌🏽.
One day I’ll definitely treat myself to it! But can’t imagine I’ll travel long haul too often now I’m here :). Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words - Sunshine Coast is everything I’ve been looking for, I’ll see you in the next vid!
I’m obsessed with it also! Wear it all the time haha, it’s from & Other Stories in the brown colour - although I think it’s sold out now. Definitely have a look as I’ve seen a few on secondhand apps/ebay :) will be under woven leather shoulder bag
Singapore great airport - paid for lounges there not worth it as airport has plenty of relaxing spaces and hawker food centre. Luckily there I can get into Qantas or Singapore Busines Lounges as Gold FF with both - both are excellent. But NEXT Time break the journey in Singapore - so well organised in terms of transport, safety. Well worth it. You missed out on "Jewel" a huge shopping / restaurant centre landside at the airport with the largest indoor fountain/waterfall in the world. Get a taxi (highly regulated - no rip offs) or a Grab (Asia's Uber) into town or take the MTR metro right from Changi Airport. YotelAir Hotel is in Jewel but can be expensive. Take a day - even a two star hotel in Singapore will be clean and safe. Probably avoid Geylang - Singapore's Soho but again safe. Singapore asexpensive as Australia - but hawker centre food malls very cheap.
Yes the airport is so beautiful, see no need to use a lounge there when there as so many quiet spaces on offer with fab food and drink! Defiantly want to do a two day layover in Singapore, will be fab to explore the places you mentioned and thank you again for the Grab suggestion as I'll defo use that :) Thanks so much!
@@IsabelleeDow Good luck in Australia. As dual citizens we have flown a dog and a cat to the UK and the cat came back with us along with a new cat friend (sadly our 14 year old when he flew border collie / kelpie cross died at 16 - 2 years before we returned to Oz). Both cats got scanned at Heathrow! Pain but understandable that Australia requires quarantine (or did for us) but on return to UK you can pick them up straight from Heathrow. Singapore is a good introduction to Asia. I would go there before Bangkok or KL which are fine, far cheaper but more confronting than Singapore. Avoid Manila because of horrendous traffic. In Australia - Bali is Australia's Malaga - lots of young and some inebriated Aussies. But also has some serene locations outside party towns of Kuta. Scoot is Singapore's low cost carrier. Cheap from Australia to Asia but eat before you fly and take your own entertainment. Worth paying for a "Scoot in Silence Seat" as kids under12 not allowed in that section.
@@RJS4287 Thank you so much, nice to hear there are people doing the same thing with their pets and so sorry to hear about your loss, is always so hard. Good news about coming back to the UK though! If I may take the liberty ... welcome Izzy (unless you prefer Isabelle - we Aussies always tend to shorten words ... yes, we are a little crazy ... must be the UV)! You've found our little island getaway. I think you're really going to love it here, no matter where in Australia you decide to make "home" for now. It's always a giant leap going to another country, yet I think you're gonna be just fine. As most have already mentioned, remember high-factor sunscreen when outside for long periods of time, as the UV index is pretty harsh here. No matter what you do, or where you plan to live, you'll be just fine here. Welcome, and enjoy OZ! 👍🦘🇦🇺🐨 (P.S: My late Mum was a British belle, one of the 10-pound-poms - she loved it here!)
