Tommy! - Are you spying on me? - lol - I have been using the grill grates in my gas grill for at least 6 years - totally LOVE 'em - I'd buy them again in a heartbeat! I've been using the 600-deg - "2min-flip-2min-flip-2min flip n' rotate - 2min flip n' rotate - rest (covered with foil) for 5 min" method for a really, really LONG time - without fail - perfect - every. single.time. Got my Camp Chef Woodwind Pro last fall, and have already considered moving the grill grates into to the smoker. - LOVE the pellet in the grate Pro Tip. Happy to see we are on the same page - bon appetit! - Cheers Dude!
garry, nice. Its easily my prefered method. Ive got grillgrates different sizes for most grills sitting in my garage. When i sell a pit, i always keep the grillgrates.... Cheers
Looks very delicious Tommy. I was thinking of getting one of those grates for my grill. And now I’m definitely going to get one and I really liked what you showed me today of adding some wood pellets on top of it. Great idea Tommy for more favor. Have a wonderful weekend Tommy and CHEERS.
Fantastic job Tommy! Great idea with the pellets in the grates, I’m sure it was flavor town in the Shack😂. Hell of a machine!! enjoying your journey, bring on more masterpieces! Cheers brother 🍻
Another great video - thanks Tommy! Love the tip about adding pellets directly to the grates for some extra smokey goodness. Will definitely have to try this! 🤠
I love the changes to the XT. I’m just wondering if the build quality is worth the cost? I love my 800, but it’s definitely showing its age going into the 4th year of owning it.
@@thegalleryBBQ have you ever tried beef bacon wrapped with 100% all beef hot dog because I smoked it first with the smoke pellets and then I let it rest and I get the grill on super high and sear the shit out of it and I toast my hot dog buns and use it with ketchup mayonnaise and barbecue sauce it tastes way better than pork I don't eat pork anymore you should try all beef bacon and beef hot dogs it's pretty good
In my opinion, as with my current MB800, I will exclusive use it for roasting and smoking. Grill marks are for show only. And since this device has eliminated the potential for flare ups, there's no way to get an even golden brown crust anymore which makes this useless for searing (in my opinion)
@@Jleonpolanco Yes- Do try it! The flavor boost along with the added texture are huge contributors to improving the steak- not to mention the appearance. Those marks tell your diners- you know what you're doing.
@@JleonpolancoNo, you were correct the first time that searing the whole steak has much more flavor than one with only grill marks. It’s like grill marks all over the steak. The pellets were a good touch though.
Great Vid Tommy! Based on what you are seeing, how is the temp read on the grate versus what the masterbuilt control board is saying? Do you notice issues getting to temp when running the full pack of grates covering the surface? Saw that with the 1050 as it was like masterbuilt temp sensor was thinking it was at a hotter temp than it really was, so wondering if the new manifold setup maybe can improve that readout.
My question is about the wiring connectors. Did they make them more robust against any previous versions? Or is there some extra shielding over the connectors themselves to prevent water seeping in from rain or otherwise?
How is the "fuel" consumption on Masterbuilt XT when you are searing just few steaks for you and the wifey for evening meal? I have very hard time to decide between premium gas grill and masterbuilt xt. Decision is basically either easiness, quickness and low fuel consumption of gas grill or "do any kind of bbq" with MB XT. I am just little bit worried about the consumption of charcoal on the beast if I want to make quick cooks like sausages, steaks etc... not long smoking sessions. Maybe this would be even ideal video for you to measure the consumption of charcoal for different type of cooks.
I mean. If im cooking (searing steaks) for me and the wife and not filming i'd fire up my gasser.. Or maybe reveres sear them on the XT just for some smoke. Then gas sear them.
My biggest question is for the price is it worth it over the 900 1050 and even Chargriller 980? I have the 980 and love it but feel like the temps kind of jump around. $1500 for a gravity fee is about twice the price of all the others!
Tommy...I've had several cooks on my xt. Initially I had to tighten ash and lid door latches but its about as tight as it can go. I still feel like it uses more fuel than I'd like. I used B&B briquettes with cherry chucks. Had a 3 hr cook at 250 and 6 hr cook at 225 and completely drained the entire hopper. Does that sound about right? You have better burn rates?
Okay, I am in Florida so you got one :D . Does the whole grill have the same high 700ish degree to sear everything or only some specific area that will get that high? I saw the Bisket video and you mentioned the corner where the hot spot is, but if I want to grill and use the whole thing, will it be almost even high heat on all of it? Do you have like Infrared Thermometer to check
How accurate have you found the pits controller to be? My 1050 always seemed to read about 100 degrees hotter than 3rd party thermometers. Looking for a new pit as the 1050 finally broke down. Thanks
Man I love the energy you put into your videos and the way you explain everything. Signing off Tom.
cheers brother.

I've been thinking about one of these grills. Love getting those temps way up there! Looks great!
See todays review video.
This is awesome! Thanks Tommy! Now only if I could find this in stock anywhere 🙃
Soon my friend, soon....
Nice steak bro! This looks fantastic!
Thanks for watching
Rare to medium rare - that is my favorite temp for the best beef flavor.
I agree, it is never too early for steak.
Agreed.
Perfect! Ok, Tommy. MBXT or OKJ Tahoma🤔
That's not even a fair question. lol
Great sear on that steak Tommy Love the pellet trick 👍
Thanks;).... It really adds to the overall flavor!
Great looking steak. I love GrillGrates! 😎🔥🍻

That is a perfect good looking steak and I like it cook rare just like you

Grill marks add flavor, lots of flavor... IMHO! Thanks for watching and I do appreciate your comment.
Did you see the use of the pellets on the grillgrates?? Major flavor explosion! Cheers

celery seed. interesting.

seems to be more robust.
What's the new manifold design like for cleaning compared to the old one?
Simple... Ill talk about it in myn review video
@@thegalleryBBQ Thanks man, cleaning in general compared to the OG gravity would be useful as well!
What's with all the hands gestures?
That's the Italian in me....I try and keep my hands in my pockets as to not offend people like you! Oh well.
What are the dimensions of the GrillGrates used?
not sure-. I think 16 1/2... And GG never got back to me with sizes
Where dob i get one of these grills? I can't find one. Help.
Sold out everywhere. Keepo check all the local HD's or Masterbuilt online.

1500 is a lot of bread... If you have it to spend on a pit, this would be the one. If not, the 1050 is amazing!
Made me hungry

So 9 hours total of cooking?? Could be right. Although i switched from those BB briq. to kingsford as it appears to me to burn slower.
Will MB be releasing their XT to Home Depot ? If so, any idea when?
They will, did. That said, it sells out fast!
Thanks for the reply! I signed up to be notified when they get some.
How is the grease management and cleaning?
Awesome......
Can you cook on all of the grill? I would like to see how much you can fit there when you bbq
Also, can you install griddle on it?
Sure.. That said. Thats a lot of food and I aint got that many friends to feed😂😂😂😂😂

150f although ive not played around with that!

Do all the modifications from the 1050 fit into the XT?
Sorry, that, I couldn't say... That said. I'm not sure this XT needs any performance mods...
What sets this grill apart from the other MB grills that justify the price point?
I can tell you its made right with zero cheap parts! This pits a tank!
