Tommy my guy...the queen of Steaks Picanha and the king of Steaks Rib EYE cooked to perfection...that Masterbuilt doing her thing yes indeed. Ciao 🍻
cheers brother.
The sear on those pieces of meat were great. I don’t think that nobody likes grease 🔥 fires and the Masterbuild did a wonderful job. Love everything about the Masterbuild but the price some of us aren’t lucky enough to get one. But once again Tommy that was a great video and you have mastered that grill. Have a Wonderful weekend Tommy and CHEERS!!!
thanks my brother...
On sale at Bj's $349 for the 560 gravity
@@joeh6440 that’s a flat out steal.
Just picked up mine yesterday. Did the burn in last night and seasoned it. I can't believe how fast it gets going. Love my pitboss pellet grill, but can't wait to cook on this.
@@joeh6440 just learn those temp swings and make sure you use an outside source.
Simply amazing Tommy! Both steaks looked fantastic!!. That Masterbuilt is the real deal. Have a fantastic weekend!! Cheers brother 🍻
thanks brother.
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy! Those look absolutely delicious! And that pit is trying to tear money out of my wallet!😂
haha..... Cheers brother.
Nailed it!! Great video!!!!
yes!!!!!!!
Sounds like they made alot improvements! Good video Tom.👍🏻
agreed...
Thanks Tommy! Keep up the good work man! Will you be trying the GrillGrates on this bad boy?
that would be killer. Stay tuned.
Looks great! I've had my 1050 since they first came out, and I'm very happy with it. It was delivered damaged, and I never sent it back for a replacement. I'll probably use it for another season and then get the XT. By then all the bugs, if any, will have been worked out. Thanks for another great vid Tommy, keep them coming.
Wow everything you said is what happened with my 1050
good point.
Great vid Tommy ...the meat looks great, and they definitely hit a home run in their R/D department
Agreed.
Impressive. Steaks look wonderful.
Getting to 700 is quite a feature. You used it well.
Looks like you have a new favorite cooking machine.
Cheers.
JT
Thanks 👍and correct. I love this thing.
Oh man I’m hungry now. Awesome video Tommy
thanks-
Looks great Tommy!
As grease fires were a concern on the 1050 when doing alot of steak the grillgrates brand grates worked well to stop that but had that weird temp issue when covering most of the surface area. Can you test that out on the new pit? That and the battery power mod to power the pit.
coming soon...
does anybody have any idea when this XT s coming to australia?
Hey Tommy, as always cooked to just about perfection. As far as the master built, I like everything I see the only question I have is they move the controller from the shelf to right on the chimney. do you think there’s any heat issues as electronics and heat are not a good combination. i’m assuming the controller doesn’t get that hot but what are your thoughts? Have a great one as always🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
I think XERO issue. This pit is just about perfect!
I have the MB800 and just a PSA, but if you have a big grease fire, check your thermocouple (mounted inside for controller) as mine was melted, and of course the pit wouldn't work well at all. I decided to pull the factory controller and upgrade to the Fireboard, and the better type K thermocouples, and it works awesome now.
great tip... thanks-
Put a couple of grill grates on the XT and you have a steak machine.
coming soon
Yes, it's something I wanna see with your Masterbuilt, and that is it sitting in my BBQ area in my backyard 😂😂😂
post of the year😂😂😂😂😂
Great video! I am able to get the flames to hit the meat on my XT - if i leave the meat over the front manifold and keep the fan on (don't pause when opening) it will shoot flames to meet the grease dripping on the manifold. If its too much I just move the meat to the center between the manifolds and the flames drop back. It's an awesome design.
good call..... thanks-
Could you make a video showing it please?
@@tmnt87 a sear video?
@@thegalleryBBQ yeah, trying to get a flames to reach the meat
Or just tell me if it’s possible
Nice HT! I'm doing a roast tonight, sitting with some Uncle Steve's since yesterday!
awesome my man....enjoy it!
Great video Tommy. I don't tend to grill much on my 800 - I usually use a Weber GA or Kettle to reverse sear.
New Zealand distributor doesn't have an ETA on the XT coming here but I'm seriously looking at replacing mine when it does. Little concerned what the price will be when it arrives though.
Im guessing pretty high. When it hits, LMK...
The XT did a nice job on the rib eye and the picanha! 😋🔥🍻
I love Picanha
Char = good - Flame = also good, but unpredictable - better to have char and no flame than uncontrolled runaway flame - I think back to all the things uncontrolled flame has ruined - lol
I just picked up a Picanha from Costco - I'm very anxious to try it on my Camp Chef Woodwind Pro. - Thanks Tommy, your cooks are always so informative - Cheers!
Picanha is my favorite cup of beef to do rare med rare.
So ive had my 560 since very early on with these amazing cookers. I've 4 years. There are two downfalls. The grease fires during high temp cooks after low and slow smokes... and the thin material. Does this new version correct both? Specifically have you done a few low and slow smokes....then high heat cooks? Any fires?
Id say so....
Few Questions Tommy....how is the fuel consumption? My 1050 could never make it through a full brisket cook. Also, bypassing the switches on the 1050 allowed us to keep cooking with the lid open. Is this no longer an option with the improved magnetic switches?
good questions. Ill answer both in my review video coming soon.
Are the temp probes and thermometer on the XT better than the previous models?
I think they are. That said. I trust my chefstemp more!
Thanks Tommy With my 1050 with the LSS mod manifold I can get a better kiss of char rather with the original 1050 manifold
However I’ve been looking hard at the XT to replace my 1050 but am now scratching my head as to if it can get the perfect kissing char ?
What do you think ?
i was tossed during the filming but now i think they nailed it. Id run the 1050 in the ground then pick up an XT... or sell it on facebook marketplace and use that money to offset the price!!! Thoughts??
Wait what boooooooooom!!! Great content Brother
Appreciate it!!
Hey Tommy! When will these be available at retailers?
They coming now....
Love watching your masterbuilt series, picked up my 800 beginning of April, Love it, but I've ran into one small issue, it wont go over 500 degrees. I bought it already built form home depot, checked all the wires to the sensors everything seems connected right. Love the grill, this is the only small annoyance. Also after every cook I turn it off and when I use it again it wont connect to the app on my phone and just says offline, I have to delete the grill from the app and add it again for it to connect. Have you ran into this issue before?
Two suggestions. Make sure your screen that sits above the ash catcher is 100% free of ash. Also. to get over 500 you need plenty of fuel in the hopper. LMK if that helps.
@@thegalleryBBQ hopper is completely full, screen is clean, I will set it to 600 and it will go to 499-498 and the fan turns off and will just sit around that temp.
Hey Tommy, need some help here. Just purchased the XT and in my first cook within the 2 hr cook I get the “hopper door open” with it being closed. Didn’t want to bypass the switch being that it’s brand new, any thoughts/suggestions??
Weird.... Maybe an adjustment??? keep me posted gallerybbq@gmail.com
@@thegalleryBBQ Maybe but shouldn’t it had come out from the start instead 2hrs in the cook??
So what do you like better the tahoma or this new masterbuilt? How does the older masterbuilt compare to the tahoma. Which pit would you rather own
I left a comment on one of his recent videos that has some relevance to your question. A couple weeks back I picked up my Masterbuilt 900 from Costco and this is why.
1. MB has double wall insulation (Tahoma does not).
2. MB cooking chamber is very tall, allowing for a drip pan / heat deflector on the main grate and your meal on the 2nd grate.
3. MB can become a long hold warming oven since it can go down to 150f, compared to the Tahoma which has 225 as the lowest setting.
4. The Costco 900 version of the MB comes with a pizza cooker; haven’t used it yet, but I assume it works well.
5. MB 900 price is $650, Tahoma is $700.
Hands down, the MB Gravity 900 all the way for me!
Tahoma is newer and across the boards in that biscuit test burns so even. That said. On this cook here i shut the pit down 3/4 full. This AM I went and looked and its still 3/4 full. I wish the Tahoma would snuff out the fuel. Thats my one major gripe that I wish they got right!!
Unless I was watching a different clip, it looked like you were staring to get some flaming action going on towards the end of the cook?
Those steaks looked freaking delicious man 👍
Very little. At first I was a tad disappointed but then i started to realize that thing thing is designed right! More testing coming!
How long to get to 250 deg? Thanks good stuff!
Pretty quick although maybe not as quick as the 1050.
That was interesting about manifold....I'll have to wait to get one but your reviews are pushing me to it. The wife on the other hand says I don't need another 😂. Do they make a cover for it?
im hearing the 1050 cover fits perfectly
Will the 1050's rotissarie fit on the XT?
Sorry, not sure-
@@thegalleryBBQ : According to Masterbuilt's site. It fits All the Gravity series models now. Just thought you'd like to know.
@@drzubradt thanks;)
👍
thanks Joe..
Tommy just ordered ribs from wildfork...40$ purchase and charged me 78$...who can I get ahold of to set things straight? Nothing but damn automated response.. any help will be helpful..thanks bro
Damn... why so much, shipping?? did you use the 20 off?? Email me gallerybbq@gmail.com
@@thegalleryBBQ I have recite of 40+ charged 70+...was free shipping on first order. Trying to find out how to get ahold of them... I'm trying to figure out how I can show you screen shots.. hell I'm 63 and not to savy with this new stuff
Maybe with lump over briqs.
Ill try... That said. The lump gets dusty which is why i never use.
Definitely jealous that Masterbuilt sent this pit to you for free! Let me know when you're bored with it. I'd be happy to take that off your hands.
4 years of hard work to get to that point..... Cheers
@@thegalleryBBQ congrats on your channel just discovered you all the way from downunder
@@anthem3560 Thanks my man... Much appreciated!
like to see more char, flames kissing the meat, but Mb is not known for searing. wildforks sells the best meats. their pichanas are excellent. Mb makes a great product..
thanks scotty!
Ultimate grease fire test is to sear up an A5 Wagyu ribeye! 😂
Nah smoke a pork butt over 10 hrs. Then reverse sear some ribeyes. that a prefect set up for a grease fire. Ask me how I know 🤣🤣
@@edwardmanders6319 😂
Ill try and grab one😂😂😂
@@edwardmanders6319I did that the other day. The whole grill was a blaze of fire. A 560 though, and the taste of blazing fire was not what I was looking for 😂
Can you make a mods video for the XT please.
So far no mods needed...
If you have any ideas... LMK-
When he cut the big piece of meat it peed itself😂
I think i also peed myself. lol
Medium rare is the best temp in my opinion, you get more flavor from the beef. If it goes to mediums or well, you lose flavor.
agreed.
