- happy dongzhi / winter solstice festival!! and wooo all around for longer days.
my first attempt at making savory pork-filled tangyuan 汤圆and omg they were so good!! a restaurant in my hometown makes a version of these and i’ve never seen them anywhere else, so i decided to try making them myself. I used the filling from my xiao wonton recipe (halved the recipe to 1/2 lb of pork), and the dough was made with 3 cups of glutinous rice flour to 1 1/3 cup room temp water. lmk if you’re interested in the full recipe!!
and if you also grew up celebrating dongzhi, i would love to know if you continue to celebrate and what traditions you carry on :)
